Higher gas prices and mortgages that are adjusting upwards are two things that people have to spend their money on rather than the deals that we have seen so far. With these two items alone, I agree with you B&M stores need to do better to see people swarm their doors. As for me, I don't care what is on sale or not, I will be at the stores early in the morning. I just realized it now, but one of the reasons I love being in the stores is I am a true morning person. I love being up and productive., while others are still sleeping:tired: Darla

I thought that way last year about a ham. There were only going to be six of us. My nephew wanted a ham really bad. I held my ground. If he bought it, I would fix it. He didn't think that was fair(He is 24). Afterwards, I felt bad. It did cause bad feelings. Hubby and I stay at their house when we are in town. This year I will buy a big turkey and a ham and chalk the cost of it up to good will.

Not so much on Black Friday, but go to the malls the weekend before Christmas. It is hard to imagine that it is the season of peace and tranquility when you see people arguing over a parking spot. :slapcry:flame:

Ever been a victim of a shopping robbery on BF??
Iliveforblckfri replied to Scanner420's topic in 2007
I have been tempted to do that, but always restrained myself. I take enough elves with me, that it would be hard to take something from my cart. -
How do you budget for Christmas money? How much do you spend?
Iliveforblckfri replied to jarerice's topic in 2007
I get paid a per diem for days that I travel. I save the fall per diem for Christmas and the Spring per diem for Summer vacation. It is just 42 dollars a day, but I can usually get four weeks in before BF. Other than that, it depends on whether we have renters who pay their rent. If we do, I don't worry about what I spend, if we don't I worry about it and think of evicting people on Christmas morning. (I wouldn't do it, but the thought is there for people who don't pay rent and lie to me about it.) -
Fleece is $1.99-4.99 a yard. The biggest thing I pick up are sewing machine needles for 50% off. I do machine embroidery and go through a lot of needles. In addition, if you are an educator and get the educator discount card it comes with a 40% off entire order. The manager told me that I could use that on BF. I kept my coupon, so hopefully it will work. Good luck.

I posted that I would leave home at 4 am originally. We leave at that time to get to Denny's. I want everyone who is with me to have a good breakfast. I am not stopping for "I am hungry, thirsty, have to use the bathroom, or anything else. If you are shopping with me, take care of everything before you leave the house.":smart:

Don't worry I think we have had enough excitement here to make up for you not checking in before. Darla

Looking for a good deal on wireless router
Iliveforblckfri replied to fizzler's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Thanks for asking this. I have the same question. -
They will have a lot of socks. I only buy my socks on BF and at FM. They do PM. The local manager ever offered me Starbucks if I come to him first on BF. 22 days to go.

This one is a great favorite in my family. we bake the potatoes instead of boiling them. My son who is in the Navy and lives in a motor home makes it as his contribution whenever he visits someone for the holidays. Made my day when he said this.

Does anyone else have to drive far to get to the closest retail store??
Iliveforblckfri replied to poofu02's topic in 2007
I live on the east coast of Alaska. I will be flying(no roads to get out of town.) 400 miles to Anchorage to spend the week with my SiL to have Thanksgiving and more importantly to me, BF. I bought my dh a plane in March so that it will be cheaper for him to come and get me rather than me take a commercial flight each time. Darla -
>>> Official Black Friday DIGITAL CAMERA Discussion Thread <<<
Iliveforblckfri replied to Brad's topic in 2007
Two features I want in a camera are rechargeable battery and anti shake. I found one at a great price this summer for the anti shake. I kept it until I got it home and found that it wasn't rechargeble. (I didn't even think they made battery based ones at that level.) I am trying to learn my camera this week so I know if I need a new one or not. My sons and nephews love when I decide to need a new one. They get the old one.(Only a few months old.) -
Wal-Mart Threatens Legal Action Against GottaDeal.com

She has the Boogie Fever.." This was the song for me to be on hold today. Somehow it felt how I think we are all feeling about this issue. Good luck Brad and to all of us. If we don't get through to them, I think we will make an impression on them. -
I love my hubby, but at Christmas time, I could easily throttle him. He is gift purchasing impaired. There are a lot of Christmases that there is nothing from him. Best Gift - The necklace I got from DH about 15 years ago. Worst Gift - The year we visited MiL and I got nothing. We exchanged names in hubbies family and the people with my name were going to be at the gathering at my mom's house in the afternoon. Don't tell anyone, but I like any gift.

>>> Official Black Friday MP3 PLAYER Discussion Thread <<<
Iliveforblckfri replied to Brad's topic in 2007
After buying three no name mp3 players for my son, I am thrilled that I got him an iPod last year. The plus of the iPod was the casing. He didn't have friends lose his mp3 players, they would drop them and break them. I have been lucky enough to win/earn two iPod shuffles, I am hoping to get one more to give the only nephew that doesn't have one. -
Not only do I save them to my hard drive, I make sure I have a hard copy of the ads with me for everyone who is going out with me on BF. A meeting before shopping is good to have to divide up the stores and shopping needs. I am willing to make two visits to a store on BF. The first is for DB and the second for items that are on sale for the whole weekend. I believe in note cards for this meeting. It is an easy way to divide up each person's list. When my kids were little(so there was more to buy.) I would color code the lists

Best Buy Black Friday Ticket System, FAQ and Sample Ticket
Iliveforblckfri replied to bigjimslade's topic in 2007
I never had the desire to get something at BB. Last year my nephew wanted something. He planned to get up at 4 am to get in line. We went to a store across from BB and saw the line at 7pm Thanksgiving. We called him, saving the money wasn't worth managing an Alaskan night outside. I may do BB this year if the deal on the large tv is worth it to me. The also depends on the weather. Nothing is worth camping out at 10 degrees or below to me. Have a great time all. -
Does anyone go to work AFTER BF early am hours?
Iliveforblckfri replied to floridasun5's topic in 2007
Me too, I would take the day off if I worked in an office. I used to run a daycare and I would hire a substitute to come in for me that morning. I also could make it back to work by 8 am. I am good at BF shopping. 33 days to go. -
Help me choose a set of dishes (update in post 41)
Iliveforblckfri replied to shopping mom's topic in 2007
My choice would be the white dishes with purple flowers, but then I am 41. I would go for the solid purple ones for a young adult. Good luck. -
Wal-Mart Threatens Legal Action Against GottaDeal.com
Iliveforblckfri replied to Brad's topic in 2008
Here is the email that I sent. Good morning, This may sound silly as it is only October and I am already chomping at the bit to prepare for the day after Thanksgiving. I look at the ads, planning what I can purchase for gifts and for myself. I usually start my shopping experience at WalMart. This may change this year. I travel 400 miles by plane to be in a city that has stores. I am not at home to get the ads mailed to me, so I depend on sites such as Gottadeal to get my information. I also share this information with coworker who can't travel to the city. I shop for five different families when I am in town. They depend on the ads I give them online for information. I would hate to see you lose these sales. Good luck with the decisions your department needs to make. -
My plans never change. If you go with me, plan on hitting breakfast at Denny's at 4am. We make our WalMart plans then. Three people going. We will divide our lists up three ways. The goal is to be out of WalMart in less than 35 minutes. Then onto Fred Meyers or Sears. Freddy's is where I spend my time due to the 1/2 price socks. The goal is to be home by 9am. Good luck all.

I wear Carhardt socks for the day. If my feet stay warm the rest of me will follow. I also have the gang I am with go out for breakfast before going to the first store. We eat a good meal of hearty food before we hit the stores.

Wow, I feel so not into wrapping. I host a pizza party with people who like to wrap. I keep things organized, they wrap. I will provide the paper for them to wrap their own gifts if they want. I just don't want to wrap presents. I always figured out what gifts Santa would being by looking at what I don't want to wrap the most.

LOL I can't imagine not going overboard when my boys were little. It would bug my mom and others in my family. Others felt that they couldn't compete. I would have been better at this had the person who asked to set limits didn't ask to limit the gifts to one gift per child. That was the total that the child would get -- from everyone. This changed for me when we asked our sons if they wanted gifts or a trip. It came out what was important. We kept going for six years.
