  1. Stockings are fun but I have to watch how much I spend. Dd is way too easy to buy for. She is kinda girly so loves to get stuff from Bath and Body Works ( I bought up a bunch of American Girl stuff when they were selling it off), nail polish, art supplies. I usually catch most itmes on sale during the year. Ds 12 is a bit harder but a Napster Card makes him happy, though it doesn't fill the stocking. He may also get a pack of cards or small rubix cube or such that he likes. In the past he has gotten hotwheels or small model planes. We don't buy much candy anymore....maybe a bag of kisses to split between the family or Christmas pez.
  2. Ebay often has good deals on Webkinz, too. I have bought several over the last few months. Which 2 do your kids want? My daughter has asked for the goldfish, toucan, croc and MANY more. lol I hope she knows i can't get tehm all nor can Santa!
  3. Anybody tried this one? I'm wondering if it is good enough for a 12 yr old.
  4. Are there any codes for Lands End now? I found some pet clothes I really like and would love a discount of some sort.
  5. Thanks. I'm glad someone understands all that.
  6. Can you watch movies on the Sansa Fuze 4g? I see where it says watch "video clips" but can you actually watch a movie? I wouldn't want to on a 2" screen but my 12 yr old probably would want to.
  7. Sale ends today. This is a pretty good deal for the NASCAR lover even though no free shipping. I got a nice youth Dale Jr. Hoodie, youth Dale Jr. t-shirt, youth Dale Jr. sleep pants and a nice boys Dale Jr. watch for about $65 total. Shipping was only $5.99. I think that was a pretty good deal if you have ever praiced NASCAR apparel and nothing I bought was clearanced. The deal does appear to work on clearanced items, though. Thanks for posting.
  8. I need to figure out which one is best. I know lighting is a big deal even with more expensive cameras. I find myself wishing I could bring the sun with me sometimes for a flash even with my nice camera. I would like her to be able to take pictures indoors at a reasonable distance with out too much trouble, though.
  9. Thanks. I hate to pay $80 and not get one that will last a while and take pretty good pictures. We have had such bad luck. I think the Kodak has pretty good reviews.
  10. Hi, I'm looking for an adult quality digital camera for my daughter. We have been through the "kid" cameras and "no name" brand cameras with terrible luck. Even my kid knows when the picture is fuzzy or dark. I have seen the Kodak camera that is listed in several BF adds for around $79.99 and wonder if this is a good camera for her. If anyone knows of a camera for around this price that actually works , I would love to know about it as well. It doesn't have to have tons of megapixels or alot of functions just needs a flash and decent pictures.
  11. We have had Sandisk mp3 players and love them. My 12 yo son will be getting the 4g Fuze for Christmas if I can get one from one of the sales. We like that they are compatible with Napster and most other music sites, except of course, itunes. I usually also include a Napster card in their stockings.
  12. I'm striking out. I hope there are more sales to come. Toys r us is sold out online and the sale ends Sat. I doubt our store has it either. I guess it must be popular.
  13. Thanks for all the ideas. I wish the 25% was good on videos, That would have been the kind of deal I really need. I wish i thought my son would like it but he has DECIDED to hate Disney Radio. lol If they had a SIng It for Contemporary Christian music like the teens at church listen to, he'd be thrilled.
  14. We buy different brands since both my kids are hard to fit. My dd age 9 needs a little more room in her clothes and ds needs alot less room. Sometimes that dictates where we buy. This year Old Navy jeans work for both. He can get slims and the plus size girls seem to run less plus than JcPenny's so they fit her better. Old NAvy holds up well, is adjustible and you have a few styles to choose from. Good enough name that kids don't get teased or anything. We also love Levis for jeans but they don't fit either kid this year. My son is still very small for 12 but he will probably begin shopping at Aeropostale once he grows a little more. That seems to be "in" without the huge price tags I see at Hollister and other similar stores. We always shop sales and I'm pretty good with finding deals on ebay to keep them somewhat in style. My dd loves Limited Too but they really don't fit her well and I think some of the styles are too old for her. I love Gymboree for many reasons but often can't aford much unless i catch a sale or find something on ebay. I like the durability of Gymboree , the more rooming style and sizing of clothing so they are comfy and that the styles are more appropriate. I mean, my 9 year old can dress there...look nice...and look 9! I guess my kids wear several different name brands but I never pay anything close to full price. It's all about knowing how to find a deal, I guess. I never think much of it until I have a friend tell me I need to teach her how to shop, etc. lol It has become more of a challange as my kids have become harder to fit but..... Oh....with shoes...definitely look for a sale on name brand...especially for athletic shoes. Brands like Walmart, Kmart and Payless have better prices sometimes but they don't hold up well for us. A pair of Nikes or Sketchers or adidas last my kids twice as long as teh cheaper brands and I do not pay twice as much. If you shop the shoe discount racks at kohls, JcPenny's and Sears, you can find kids shoes for $20 or less quite often and Walmart wants $18 so.....I buy off the discount racks and buy ahead when i can and my kids are always in name brand. It does get harder to do as there feet get bigger, though.
  15. Does anyone know where I can find this with a discount? It is about $60 and my daughter would really love it but it is really too expensive considering we just bought the Wii console. Just wondering if anyone has seen it for less or has seen a deal that would work for it anywhere.
  16. Yes. Kohl's does inflate their toy prices. That's why you must know what the toys sale for elsewhere to determine if it's a good deal. I only buy there this time of year when the sales are more reasonable. The prices i got were better than BF at other stores, so I figured worth my time. Do I really think the item was 50% plus and additional 20% ? Nah......but it was a good price. ;-) I'm glad someone else was able to get a good deal, Tara.
  17. Today I got an email from kohl's stating that some things were marked %50 off plus with Holiday20 you get an additionaly 20% off everything. With $100 purchase you get free shipping. I found some good deals. The Baby Alive Potty Training Doll my daughter wants was marked down to $29.99 and I got for $23.99 which is cheaper than Target has on BF. It normally costs $48.88 at Walmart. I also got a ripstick for my son for $55 which is cheaper than Target has on BF also. It is regulary $99. I also picked up a Wi game for aound $15 and a Ds game for the same. I think they can be gotten for $9.99 on BF, but I went ahead and picked them up in case I don't get them that day. Still a good deal and I slept in today!
  18. I do see more of the things the kids want in Target's add. They aren't huge items but I had really not seen much of what my kids wanted anywhere. My son wants a ripstick and ds and PS2 games. Dd wants that potty training doll and a camera. I'm not sure I will get up too early but will either try to get there early or maybe price match these items somewhere else? I guess I need to try to remember who price matches andhow it works. I was prepared to do that last year but ended up not needing to.
  19. I am hoping there will be something better coming out, too. I'm still holding out for Target. There are a few things at Sears that I like but doubt I will be getting up to early if nothing changes. We were actually considering going to visit relatives since the sales just aren't there for us. We usually stay in town to shop. We were hoping for inexpensive desk tops or laptops for our kids and hubby was hoping for a flat screen tv. The tv would just be an extra, though. I haven't seen any really good deals for ds games or PS2 games. Maybe Amazon will have a good deal before Christmas. Usually we see so much we would like to get that we are split between stores and sometimes overspend. This year....I don't see that being a concern. I hope things improve. I know the economy is bad. Even in our area which does ok, I think sales are down. The brand new Circuit City down the street is closing and liquidating their stock. Sales are worse right now than at the main stores but...closing none the less after less than a year open. I have also been told that Best Buy isn't doing well, either. I would think some really good deals would spark sales but maybe they are not looking at it that way.
  20. I use Napster and have had no problems in the last year. I just pay as you go not for a memebership or anything. And, if you happen to be military, you can get a discount on Napster. Regular price is $.99 per track and albums are usually less that $10 unless they are just released. I have found it very easy to use and I have always found whatever I was looking for for the kids, my parents or myself. NApster works with most all MP3 players.
  21. Merry Christmas and the best of years to everyone! God bless and keep you all.
  22. I shop at Walgren's some but apparently not enough. Can you explain what a register return is and how you get one? I'm not sure I understand. I could use some more Coke's at that price.
  23. I have a friend who is doing really well right now. This has not always been the case but she is really happy now and wants to give. She knows that with me not working ( staying home with kids was my choice) sometimes it's hard to make ends meet. She gave me some money one time to buy dance recital pictures, etc. becasue she knew Iwas skimping on that and she wanted my daughter to have the memories, etc. I wouldn't have accepted the money but she told me that while she was prospering, she would give and maybe one day if she needed something, someone could give to her. Also she told me, don't worry about paying me back. This is a gift but later maybe you can give to another friend who needs something. Her theory is that we all go through different seasons of life and that we are to share our blessings when we can. All this to say that maybe you can tell your friend that you know she doesn't have the resources to give lots of presents this year but that you are doing ok and you had already bought the presents for her kids. Explain that you really wanted her kids to enjoy the gifts and that maybe another year when they are doing well, she can give some gifts to a toy drive or another friend who might need or enjoy the toys. It's sad that we can't just give anymore out of the goodness of our hearts. It is hard to be on the receiving end sometimes but a great joy to know someone cares.
