I was just talking with my cousin yesterday, her kids are 11 & 12. I asked her if they would like a digital photo keychain and she said it was a wonderful idea. She wishes she had thought of it first. I found them online at WalMart for $12. They may come up cheaper in the days ahead but this way they are checked off my list.

I have made a family basket using a dvd, jiffy pop popcorn (most kids haven't seen this and are amazed to see it pop on the stove), kool-aid pkgs, some fun curly plastic straws (from Dollar Tree 6 in a pkg), plastic cups and some of the show size boxes of candies (from the Dollar Tree). Another good basket for kids is one filled with arts & craft & puzzle items. Even older kids can't resist a new can of playdoh. The Dollar Tree is a wonderful place to find get things for this basket as well. They have search n find books, puzzles, color pens & pencils, craft project pkts, molding clay, crayons, and so much more. I have made a large filled basket for under $20. The Dollar Tree is a great place to find items to fill a basket and make it look fun. They usually have colorful containers to use as a "basket" too. Check out their storage isle for all sorts of colorful, different size containers. As you can probably tell, I am a big fan of the Dollar Tree.

Thank you! I bought a pkg and shipped it to my daughter for my new grandson.

Mine arrived today - the box is huge! My granddaughter came to spend the night and saw the box on the porch. She read the word "Toy" on the label and wanted to open it. I told her it might be a Christmas surprise and we couldn't open it. Hope the house inside isn't quite as large as the box it came in. I was planning on it being easy to store.

TY - I ordered one through Amazon. The shipping was a few dollars cheaper and I had other things to order from them. It just killed me to pay this much for shipping for something I really didn't need to buy. But it will be worth it Christmas morning if my granddaughter loves it. I'm home sick today - if I don't log off it may be a very expensive sick day.

Hersey's makes kisses for announcing the new baby. I saw them a Factory Card Outlet but you could probably order them on line from Hersheys. They were $4 for a bag. They were pink or blue and the little paper said "It's a Boy/Girl" They would be cute in a candy dish for the hospital room, too. I saw suckers too, they were pink/blue with a stork carrying a baby. SIL used these when my gd was born.

What about a gift card to a local gas station chain? My brother in law was a home care nurse and was always stopping for a fountain drink, coffee or snack. We have QuikTrips here and they are a great one stop place.

We play a game called pig, take a deck or two of card (depending on how many people) pass out one card to each person. Starting with the dealer pass start another card around the table, as the dealer looks at the card and passes it they take another card and pass it. So multiple cards are being passed at the same time. When someone gets a pair they lay down the card and put their finger on their nose. Everyone around the table passes cards and watches for someone to put their finger on their nose. If you see someone do this you put your finger on your nose. The last person to put their finger on their nose is out. Then you deal again, start passing and keep going until one person is left, they are the winner. It is fun to watch how many people keep passing cards when others have their finger on their nose. It is a concentration game that requires everyone to mutli-task. When we play the kids can play too, this makes it fun for them because usually they are left to play games on their own.

I make scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit, potatos and donuts or cinnamon rolls. I can make this while they are checking out their goodies. It is quick and saves room for a big dinner later in the afternoon.

I keep seeing things to buy my ss and I don't even know who they are....this could get out of control. Glad we are only days away from knowing who we have.

One of the local cities passed an ordiance this year to keep anyone over 13 yrs of age from trick or treating. This is because they have vandelism problems and it seems to start about this age. Most kids I know stopped by themselves when they are 12-13. It think as this is a good age. It does bother me when older teens come to the door in what could barely be considered a costume or none at all. And when they bring a car load of kids to the subdivision because they know it is the place to get "good" treats - that really bothers me.

I don't think it would have to be the doorbuster but just items they didn't want to go out to shop for. The cost would be either a percentage of the items, plus taxes, or a flat rate for the time you spent shopping. If they can afford to pay full price all the better. You could shop for them and not worry about finding a bargain price.

The coupon was my daughters. Coach sent it to her in the mail. She is a big fan of the Coach products. SIL started her on this path a couple years ago. The Coach store employee told me if you sign up online for their emails you will recieve coupons also. I would offer to share but it was a one use coupon with a code they recorded.

My niece is 12 and I scored a great Christmas gift for her today. She loves Coach, which is normally way out of my price range for her, but I had a $50 off $150 coupon today and was able to get her a wristlet for free. My daughter (28) ask for a wristlet for her bday and it was $98, the wristlet for my neice was $52 so I only paid $2 for her gift. She will be so surprised, she will never expect a Coach gift from me.

I am curious if anyone has thought of offering this service for a minimal fee? I personally do not shop on BF. My goal is to have my shopping completed by then and be home putting up my Christmas tree. But I know some of you love to shop on this day. My boss can't stand to be in crowds and said she has considered paying someone to do her shopping. One year my sister in law offered me cash to do her shopping. (I did it for free)This made me think there are probably other people that feel the same way. With so many trying to make extra cash in these days I wondered if this service might be a way for those of you that do shop to make a few extra dollars. Just thought I'd throw this out in case some of you might think it is worth looking into. IMO I would only do it for people I worked with or good friends. This way I know they would pay me back for the purchases. What do you think? Would this be something you are interested in?

Stocking are first and everyone can open them at the same time. Gifts are opened by the little ones first going back and forth, taking turns to open one gift at a time. Adults, who are my dd and sil, alternate opening one at a time also. This is the only way I can see them and take pics. At my Mom's, later in the day, each family takes a turn handing out gifts. No one can open a gift until the giver has completed handing out gifts. Then the gifts are opened by groups who are sitting by each other and can be in the same pic, starting with the kids on the floor. This has worked well for years. It used to be a free for all and if you were the gift giver you never knew if they even knew who the gift was from and for get taking pics.
