They were marking down a number of kids craft items and kits today. I was wondering if anyone bough the Clay Party or what every it was called from that stuff. DS1 was wanting to make some clay sculptures, but the clay his aunt gave him doesn't harden. I was wondering if anyone knows whether this stuff does or not. It is pretty cheap, so I may just get it anyway. But it would be nice to know. -

Yep, housewares are more or less the "hardware" or tools type of things for the kitchen etc., and domestics are the "soft lines." Of course that doesn't account for things like blinds and curtain rods, but it is a decent description. -

If anyone is looking for this, these have 2 different UPC codes. One is $4.97, the other is $19.94 or something like that. be sure to check that and scan both. -

Can you believe they didn't even have security cameras????? I was pretty shocked. Our stores are almost all inside old-fashioned malls. I agree, doesn't sound like any kind of robbery, but I sorta doubt the gang initiation, thing too. Seems like they'd more likely use them to take out a known enemy or something. But maybe that is too many cop shows talking... -

WOW! I didn't know there was such a thing as a "professional" cereal dispenser. Heck, my 4 year old can dispense cereal, and no one pays him. maybe I should look into compensation.... Sorry, just couldn't resist. I am somewhat tired of all the so-called "professional" stuff out there on the market. I guess anything can be professional if you call it that. -

If I am not mistaken, adrewell was talking about looking for deals that aren't clearly marked. If you follow this discussion regularly you KNOW what is on clearance in most of the country. Quite often you can find those items, not marked at all, or in another department, or less than they are marked. That is especially true the week or two after a big clearance event like what they did with toys a few weeks ago. People do returns. Oh, and there are often online returns, too. So, we search for them. Now, adrewell, I don't want to get in trouble for speaking out of turn, so if that isn't what you meant, you correct me! -

I found someone's toy stash today. Got some of those Knex racers from Christmas clearance ($.49 - didn't want to push for the 90% price as they might not have gone for it since they were NOF) and some small Lego Aquaraiders sets for $1.24. Pasadena-Lake store has a fair amount of the bulk stuff on end caps in the sporting goods & downstairs in the cleaning stuff. A lot of the cereal upstairs. I think it was still 15% -30% off, but if you were looking... I noticed at Madre that a lot of the grilling supplies were 30% off - grill covers, etc. -

Yep, and in keeping with my reputation...could you please add it to your profile? It really helps us all to keep from having to ask that question all the time. Just click on the Control Panel above on the left and follow through the links. -

Yeah, probably that's it. I think they call them buggies in England, too. Or maybe it is something else. funny how different that can be from place to place. -

Unless you used your credit or debit card, in which case they can look it up for your using the card. A lot of us carry those types of receipts around with us in hopes of being able to buy at 75%, remove the red tag and then walk over and do the return immediately using the 50% receipt. -

Several stores have a variety of kids licensed bedding items marked down. It is a real YMMV as I have been to about 5 stores, all with different things marked down. The only commonality seemed to be the Diego twin size sheets. Some stores have only full sized bedding marked down. Some have the little pop up baskets marked, others don't. so, if you are looking for any of this stuff, it is a good time to check. -

Each department has clearance usually. You can generally find clearance items on end caps around the perimeter of the store (hence the title of the discussion). But you can also often find clearance in other areas. When they start at 30%, they often leave it on the shelf in the normal place. Then they tend to consolidate it in an area in the department, on an endcap, etc. In our stores here, they often move smaller baby items to an endcap in girls or boys departments or onto those rolling shelves they use for tshirts and such inside the department. Just look for red tags and scan it because they are often wrong. -

For anyone in SoCal - the Alhambra store is a bit behind and just marked sporting goods today it looks like. there is a Barbie golf club set sitting there (behind the larger sets) and several regular sets. they also just marked all the outdoor garden lighting. -

Yes, but there are always a few cashiers who will try to argue. Not usually a big deal when you have a lot of stuff/coupons, but can be a problem if you don't. But I just stacked a Clariton MFG coupon with a register coupon for Claritin yesterday. DS1 has allergies and the DR. said to get kids Claritin (I really needed to add another bottle of stuff to my medicine cabinet). That stuff is expensive! But with a $2 MFG & a $3 register coupon it came down to only $4.50. UGH. -

You know, I think every single one of us had that reaction the first time! I wanted to do a little jig right in the aisle. -

most of the time it needs to be hit with a scanner. You can often approach the markdown team while they are working and ask them to check an item. Otherwise, if it is hidden, you can give it a few days and see what happens. Sometimes they seem to update the system over a weekend. But most of the time it needs to be hit. -

That is so weird. This has been sort of the standard here for a couple of years. In fact they look at you like you are crazy if you say you don't want the drink. It is up on the board in all our local stores. -

Oh they are, but DO NOT BUY THEM!!! My husband, Mr. Mild Mannered, was NOT happy and ended up throwing it away! It took nearly an hour to put together (not joking, and he is an engineer), then he couldn't get it to work. You need to have a particular kind of bed, I guess, we have bunk beds, and it would not fit in. It was absurd. He was about to lose it. He took the whole thing to the trash. I suggested I could have returned it, but he wasn't about to take it apart, and he told me that it was impossible to take out of the box without destroying the box. He said for $7 he would just toss it. We have had, for about 5 years now, another Winnie the Pooh one I bought at Target when DS1 was ready for a big boy bed. The problem is that it is getting pretty ratty and the fabric cover is all torn and unraveling. Truly ugly. But DS2 will still fall out of bed without one (we tried). So, I am hoping whatever they bring in with the new products is better. -

Of course that assumes that she has a pretty recent model car. I have a '93 Camry, and there is no keyring door opener.... -

Worth a try, but they may not go for it. Look at some of the similar ones that are clearance to be prepared to give a clearance price when they ask you if you saw how much it was. Always go for the young and inexperienced looking cashiers, too. More likely to be successful. Worst case they may send it to the price change team. If it was a return, it may show up with the red & white tag in a few days.
