  1. They are small Asus EEE PCs. They are sometimes called Netbooks or other names. They are not available at all stores.
  2. Got a couple of lawn chairs 50% off today. One store had them at that price, the other at full price.
  3. Ahh....yeah if you need it in the car itself, that would be a problem. If you can go to anyplace with free WiFi, though it is ideal. Our internet was down for a week when we moved last year, so I just took it to Panera and was able to do everything I needed. It has been great. I'd often love to have it anywhere, anytime, but I am too cheap to pay the fee with my wireless company to have it.
  4. The laptops don't require a card. the wireless is built in, and it is ready to go out of the package. I have had 2 of them for the last 2 years, and have not had problems using wireless anywhere I go. I am using one right now to type this at a hotel in Puyallup, WA, in fact. I've taken it to all sorts of cafes, use it at home and have no probs.
  5. Ummm....if you haven't been in a while, kinda hard to authoritatively say that. Could be your store. Could be you simply haven't been going much and therefore aren't finding anything. It is definitely the case that all the stores I frequent seem to be cutting back, so I am not finding as many good deals anywhere. But, Target has been better than most stores for me. I'm sure your fellow perusers appreciate your staying away, though. More for them.
  6. Was it all on sale at your store? At ours it was only specific items. Gloves, some boots (girl ones only) and some of the other odds & ends. It was mostly the pink stuff. But the tunnel and such were not on sale.
  7. they marked our patio furniture 30% off today. Toy clearance should start (30% off) in a week or two. They usually finish it up the last of July/first of August. now I am off on vacation, so I'll see you all next week.
  8. That's funny. I was at one store this morning, and only the small odds & ends decorative items were on sale. They were 50% off also.
  9. Seems like it is shortly after the big July/August toy markdown, if memory serves. Maybe 2-4 weeks later, so that'd be the middle to the end of August. And that would seem about right for the end of the major camping season and beginning of a lot of hunting seasons in many areas.
  10. It is usually in July, so it should start reasonably soon. I bought my patio furniture 75% off the 2nd week of July last year. It was the week before I was moving, and the people at the new house let me move it straight there. That's why I remember. :-)
  11. No need to worry about that. I agree with the other poster that Leapster has awesome backward compatibility on these things. The Leapster2 was just introduced, all the old standard Leapster & Leapster LMax cartridges work with it (as was the case with the LMax when it came out to replace the standard, original Leapster) in addition to the new Leapster2 cartridges. There will not likely be a replacement/major improvement for the L2 for at least 2-3 years at the earliest. It is a safe bet.
  12. Absolutely! I usually try a bottle of the ones I am interested in when they are at 30% (they generally start at 15%) and if I like it, I stash some somewhere in the store or just hope they are there at 50-75% depending on cost and how much I like it. I have had some AWESOME wines, and some stinkers. Smoking Loon was a total bust, and I bought it without having tried it. So, I ended up with a few bottles and didn't bother returning them. Oh well. Some of the current crop are good. I've tried the Australian Sauvignon Blanc with the screwtop, can't think of the maker. It was very nice. So many people don't realize that the high end vintners, especially in Australia & New Zealand have moved from corks to screw tops, so they ignore them. Good for me! People also often ignore the international wines that don't look familiar. Big mistake. Again, some really great deals. We tried one of the Oops! wines from Chile this week and it was very good. Can't remember off hand which one, though. I have a few others to try this week and early next before the next mark down. But there is quite a selection in the clearance stuff. I even saw Sonoma Cutrer Chardonay (hate CA chards myself, though) which is a very pricey wine in general. So, definitely check them out!
  13. you can often buy the games cheaper on ebay, new or used. They also always go on sale close to Christmas.
  14. They mark down every other week, and with bulk stuff it often sells out before it gets very low.
  15. CA is going to start doing it soon, so I guess it will help my diet!
  16. The last time I went to Fridays was in New York in February. NYC requires them to put the calorie count on the menu. OMG! I won't be back. There was nothing on the entree menu with fewer than 1000 calories. It was an amazing, revealing trip! I don't buy my favorite coffee cake a Starbucks anymore, either....
  17. So crazy! Pasadena sold out last week.
  18. Rayovac batteries (which is what I always use anyway), 9V & C both $2.48 for the mulitpacks that were marked down. Great price, and after buying them, take them out to the parking lot, open them and take out the yellow front cardboard thingy that says Rayovac because the back side is a $1 off coupon. Take the receipt and coupon back in to apply to the sale, and get them for $1.48 per pack.
  19. Yep, that falls into the newer models. The one on clearance is a 400 series, and not at all the same. Hubby wanted scheduled cleaning so it would be done during the day, and he loves it. The 400 series had a lot of problems, though.
  20. A word about the Roomba....apparently the one which is on clearance is an older model and it has a LOT of flaws. DH has been researching them for at least 6 months, and everyone with the older models have had a number of problems. So, unless you have a pretty basic need in a very uncluttered, unobstructed room, I'd skip it. We just bought the newest model, the 560, and it is great. We bought a reconditioned one on Overstock.com and have had it about 2 weeks. DH is in heaven and takes care of it entirely (woohoo!!) The older ones had a lot of problems with parts breaking and not being able to navigate that well. The new ones are pretty cool if you have had floors (it isn't great for carpets). We have hardwood & tile throughout the house. It does a decent job cleaning up after the kids on the rug under the dining room table, but we will still have to pull the old vacuum out once in a while. Just my $.02, but wanted to toss it out there.
  21. Argh! I wish our bulk stuff was marked down more! It is only 15%! I did manage to get a ton of individual boxes of Puffs & Scotties tissues, but that's it.
  22. You should read the first post in the discussion to get the basics, but what he told you is somewhat accurate. The mark downs are done by department on particular days of the week. Most markdowns are done at roughly the same time nationwide. Occasionally an item will lag here or there, like this Leapster, based on other issues. Every weekday, corporate sends out price changes to the price change team (they are the ones with the red stickers), and they go around mark down those items. They have no control over the timing, and no one else can do the price changes. There are some variations in the price change schedule, but it usually is that smaller stores will mark down some items earlier than large stores because the item is not selling that well and they need the shelf space for something else. This is most noticeable in areas like toys closer to Christmas. Hope that helps.
  23. Most of the clearance video games got marked 75% off today. Many skipped 50% and went straight down. Variety of games & platforms. Batteries, sadly, did not drop.
  24. not sure if you are asking about the Leapsters or the batteries. The Leapsters should go down on your toy day, either Wednesday or Thursday. The batteries should go Monday.
  25. For those whose Leapsters are still at $55.98, I'd expect to see them go straight to 75% off next week. But that is just my speculation. If anyone else is looking at the Rayovac batteries, there is a coupon on the back side of the front label, $1 off, so buy one, open, buy next w/coupon, etc....
