  1. Well, then someone didn't tell our stores, as they haven't all reset, and markdowns were proceeding just fine. A lot of the markdown teams get irritable at the toy sale because so many people hover. If I were them, I'd be annoyed. They don't like going through people's carts because of the time involved and because it often throws their counts off. Particularly if people don't take them and put them back. The markdown team manager explained that to me this morning. I had heard it before, of course, but she told me again anyway.
  2. Thanks rondadeal! anyone else have a list? Sure would be nice to go in looking for some of the stuff I've missed.
  3. OHH NO!!! She probably just went on break! They typically take break around 8 or 8:30 am and are gone for about 20 minutes! I hope you didn't miss everything.
  4. Just got back from stacking a cart fairly full of stuff I want and moving it to another department then covering it with stuff from that department. Doesn't always work, but doesn't hurt to try. Moved a few things into the newly re-set aisles too, hoping they'll miss all but the ones I left for them to scan. Now, if the overnight team isn't too diligent, it should help me get a few of the things I want tomorrow.
  5. Don't believe it. You really want to check tomorrow. She doesn't know what she is talking about with regard to them resetting first. They always do the mark down before they actually do the reset or simultaneous with it. The reason being that they need the space to put out the new product. They can't leave an aisle or two of clearance and be able to get the new stuff on the floor. and they don't want it taking up space in the back. you really want to check tomorrow and at least next week if they don't do it tomorrow. they often skip 50% entirely.
  6. Stores in Pasadena, CA (and Duarte) still at 30-50% on toys. :-( Hoping for tomorrow.
  7. Thanks! I have one store that often goes Wednesday, so I guess I'll slog out there this morning. :)
  8. Be sure to check back. When they do the re-set, they often still have cart loads of clearance in the back. Sometimes it trickles out the next day or over a few days. Our re-set is the same size as always.
  9. Some of the markdown team get irritated when you do that. Some are okay with it. If you know your store and the team members it may be fine. Just beware. They are particularly touchy on the toy days since they often get surrounded by people asking, and it slows them down. They have a quota of items they are required to markdown each day, and if they don't meet it, they can get into trouble.
  10. Not necessarily. First, you want to be sure that Wednesday is the day for your store. If you do not know already, the only way to find out is to go. They often mark toys in the morning. However, I have been there many times when they were not able to start until mid or late afternoon. It simply depends on their workload. That is why you have to get to know your local store well. Our closest stores typically do it Thursday mornings, but one of them has been running behind and been doing it in the afternoon.
  11. They were marking at least some of the stuff (Pooh bedding) 75% off. I wasn't in the market for most of it, so I didn't get in and look at the big stuff.
  12. Most of it was marked yesterday at our 2 stores.
  13. One of our 2 closest stores was resetting toys today, but they just piled all the clearance together. No separation, so I'd guess that is just some local person wanting it that way. I think they are just supposed to move it out of the main aisles. No movement on any of ours. 30-50% off. I sure wish we HAD anything left in picnic. There wasn't much when it went 30%. Now there is about an end cap worth.
  14. I'm on the other end of the valley, though I trek out your way for the big sales after I hit my stores. My main stores are the 2 in Pasadena, then Eagle Rock, Glendale, sometimes Alhambra (though not often) and Duarte if I need to go to Walmart, Home Depot or TRU anyway. I sometimes need to go to Diamond Bar, so I'll hit the San Dimas & West Covina stores. I'll even trek on down to Baldwin Park if I am on that way and have time.
  15. No, that is 50%. It was $29.99 (I bought it for my son for Christmas).
  16. With a very few exceptions, I haven't really seen much of a change. They have been a bit slower on some high value items, but mostly have been fairly regular and predictable still. Toys are always like this for the big clearances. If you go back through past threads, you'll see the same complaints every time about how it is dragging, etc. The boots, on the other hand, may just be getting overlooked, or have somehow gotten in some weird state in their computer system. That can happen. Do you have them stashed? Or have they been sitting out? If they are stashed, sometimes they don't get marked down.
  17. Some of our stores are consolidating the toy clearance. Others haven't yet. They usually do somewhat if only because they have to start re-setting the department right as they go 75%, so that is another reason for me to think it is still not going to happen this week.
  18. Personally, I think a few more toys will go down this week, but that next week will be the big markdown of most everything. I sure hope so! I will be tied up all day Thursday, and won't get anything if it goes then. Historically it has been the last week of July or first week of August, so I think I am safe. Oh, and several stores still don't have the Legos marked at all, so that is one reason I think this is the case.
  19. Yes. It was in last week's Sunday flyer. http://www.gottadeal.com/goto.php?http://pressroom.target.com/pr/news/value/our-low-price-promise-facts.aspx
  20. New rules on no receipt returns. Up to total value of $70 or $75 (can't remember what they told me), but you can do that in as many transactions as you want up to the total value. But if you paid by CC or Debit, you can just have them look it up. But I also agree about just carrying the receipt with you. Saves those ID returns for when you need them.
  21. Yep, that is what they summer toy clearance is all about. As soon as they finish, you'll see the re-set. They'll reorganize some sections and change the aisles around. They'll also add risers on top of the shelving to do overstock. Then they'll start getting in the fall/Christmas merchandise and it will go up, up, up. Given the state of things, and the fact that it is usually not till the last week of July/first week of August in most years, that sounds right. I think there'll be a few things 75% next week, but not the majority. I think they'll also add some stuff next week again. Some stores still haven't even marked Legos, so they need to do that for 30% at least. They'll probably then drop straight to 75% 2 weeks later. But all just speculation.... Too bad one of our stores just had the toy manager fired. Several employees were eating from Food Ave but not paying. All got fired....You gotta wonder what they heck they were thinking. In this economy you just hang on and fly right to keep a good job...
