  1. From the site: "For easy installation, kit includes installation and management software, hardware and step-by-step illustrated instructions."

Like I said before, you get mounting hardware, probably a SATA cable, software and manual. With the bare drive you get the bare drive - usually nothing else.

ZipZoomFly has the bare drive for $162 with free 2nd day shipping:

It also says it has a 3 year warranty, which is nice.

  2. We only allow guest posting in the Deal Finder board, just to make it easier for people to help out others since they can give their own ideas and suggestions for a specific deal request without having to register if they don't want to. Registration is required to post in all the other boards.
  3. BenQ is an above-average manufacturer. Better than those SVA/Sceptre/Sylvania models that have been available lately. Here is the Pricegrabber listing for the DVI model:

so as you can see, the Amazon price is $50 cheaper than anywhere else. This is a $400 LCD.

Yes, it isn't as good as the Dell, but the Dell costs quite a bit more...

  4. Same explanation. If we bump a previous deal to the top of the home page, it gets a new ID#, so we can choose to either delete the old one or keep it in the archive. Usually if a deal is less than 4-5 days old, we'll delete the old one. Otherwise we keep it in there in case Google or Yahoo have already spidered the old page. That way people coming to the site get less 404 errors from deals that were deleted. It also keeps Google and Yahoo happy, and we need them happy to get new people to the site :)
  5. Sometimes we copy previous deals (especially very popular ones) to get them back to the top of the home page without deleting the original deal, so it just uses the same forum thread.

I would have deleted the old deal when bumping but I have some Google Adwords ads running which link to that deal page and don't want problems with it no longer being available.

  6. The problem with most online places is that shipping will kill you on something like that, unless there is a free shipping promotion like that model at Target.

For example, OneCall has a nice 24" (not 27") Sony Trinitron WEGA for under $250, but shipping is well over $100 on it.

    I'll keep looking...

  7. Here is a really nice Samsung model at Target.com - $449 w/ free shipping and use 10% off coupon code TCSAVEAUGTEN to get it for $404 shipped (plus tax if applicable). Has all kinds of inputs, progressive scan-compatible, etc... Pretty much one of the best non-HDTV 27" models available.

If you want something cheaper, here are some models at BestBuy.com to look at. Free delivery on most, or you can pick them up in store if you have one nearby:

  8. Another possible option if you want longer battery life would be one of the many reconditioned models at Overstock.com. Plenty of options from name-brand companies like Dell, HP, IBM, etc... Most of these have slower processors that use less power but are still more than enough for most any activity on a laptop. Use a coupon and save more. We'll have several deals posted tomorrow for laptops at Overstock, so stay tuned.
