  1. Here are some options for online ordering:

I'd recommend the last one, from Sima, as they are more a more well-known company than the others. If you choose that one, be sure to order it from Amazon for $25.64 to get free shipping (see the "More Buying Choices" menu on the right).

You should be able to find these at any local Target/WalMart/Best Buy/Circuit City pretty easily, probably in the same $25-30 price range.

  2. I think I know what he means, I was actually thinking about this the other day. For a lot of items there are places that sell it for considerably less than other places, but some people don't know it. For instance, I used to be a sucker paying $30 an inket cartridge before I found websites selling generics. I just recently learned that eBay is the best place to buy Mach3 razor blades - you can get them for half of what you'd pay in stores. I think anything where if you were to post a question asking where to buy a particular item, and everyone answered the same store, that would be a good candidate for what AFB is suggesting. Not sure how you would want to implement it though, as it wouldn't lend itself perfectly to a forum setup.

OK, that's kind of what I thought. I don't know how something like that would be implemented though. People can always just search and find the relevant threads.

As for the Mach3 blades, I still remember when more.com was around ~4 years ago and if you bought them once, you could buy them "forever" for 99 cents per 3-pack and free shipping if you bought them with any other item(s). Unfortunately, for more.com forever meant around 6 months before they went away, lol.

  3. Glad everyone made it over, lol.

I was surprised it went as well as it did considering we were moving a pretty complex site to a new server, and from cPanel to DirectAdmin. Other than a few minor changes I had to make (which were done before propagation) because of cPanel/DA differences, there were no problems at all. This should be the final move for a long time :crosses fingers:

  4. Just an update:

Tomorrow morning we will be moving GottaDeal to a new server. Therefore at some point tomorrow morning (most likely around 9am ET) I will be closing the forum :2lock: so no new posts get lost during the transition. With it being the holiday weekend, hopefully you all have better things to do with your time :)

The main site will continue to look and function the same, so the only way you will know when the nameserver changes have taken effect is that the forum will once again be open, which should happen sometime tomorrow afternoon if all goes well.

Everything is already set up on the new server and from what I can tell is working perfectly, so I don't anticipate any actual downtime for the main site. I'm sure if something goes horribly wrong :cry2: , RossMAN will let you know via a post on ATOT.

  5. Hello mqalbani, and welcome to the forum :)

The best deal I see currently is at Dell Home who has the PT-L500U (exact same model as the AE500U) for $1,799.10 with free shipping. Use coupon code WS6GF919DQJFDQ to save another $30, and your final price is $1769.10 with free shipping.

    Hope this helps. Great projector.

  6. Good suggestion Bobby.

As the site is designed now, every deal is assigned a general category (such as video cards, hard drives, cell phones, mp3 players, etc...) so if those general categories were acceptable, we could easily implement something like that.

We have no specific database field for price, mostly because not every deal we post is for one specific item with one specific price - we post a lot of deals for special sales, new coupons, more than one item, etc... so doing it by price would not be easy.

Another option would be to let you enter one or two "keywords" that must appear either in the title or description to trigger the alert.

I could code something like our daily newsletter: You enter your e-mail and what category you want to "subscribe to". You then confirm the subscription via a confirmation link (to prevent spam problems). Then whenever we post a new deal, it checks to see who, if anyone, is subscribed for that category and e-mails them with a link to the deal. Every e-mail would have a unique "cancellation" link once you no longer need the updates.

Before we implement it, we need more feedback, so anyone else who is interested in something like this, reply here. Cause I sure aint doing it for Bobby alone, lol. :)

  7. Nope. In DA you can't create a forwarder for a username that already has an account set up for it. So you can have mail to a certain username go to an existing account or be forwarded somewhere else, but not both :(

If anyone knows a way around it, please let me know.

  8. Glad we could help :)

If you wanted to go the real-cheap route, here is a used version of your current phone on eBay that you could probably get cheap:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=64355&item=5716917523&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

Read the part about the button cover being missing - you could just use the one on your existing phone. Put your SIM card in there and it should work.

Otherwise there should be tons of options on eBay (do a search for unlocked gsm phone) and HoFo (and Amazon if you want to pay a little more)

  9. Then it is GSM, so you should be able to take that card out and insert it in any unlocked (or Cingular "approved") GSM phone. There is that model at Amazon I linked above, or search eBay or HowardForums.com for an unlocked GSM phone with any features you may need. Depending on your needs, you could get an older model for well under $50 shipped.
