just a heads up: with the big toy book now being posted on toysrus.com, in the next few days i will be removing those items from the black friday site database and from then on the black friday site will only be listing actual black friday or thanksgiving day sales. doing so will also remove them from your online shopping lists, so if you need the items saved on your list, it would be a good idea to save them somewhere else before they are removed.

Yep, looks like a lot of the items are now online (and many qualify for free shipping on $49+ orders): Big Toy Book Online

That was last week. We don't have another scheduled chat right now, but the chat room is still open :)

Our TRU affiliate rep just sent these over. I don't know if these will be the only Big Book offers available online or not, but I'll post them anyway. Sale starts tomorrow.

I think if stores have a ticket system and do not have a way to stop/disallow the selling of tickets, then anyone with complaints should direct them at the stores, not the people selling the tickets. Personally I don't see much difference between someone selling a ticket for a TV for $100 or buying the TV and re-selling it elsewhere for $100 more than they paid (and both of these happen a lot with BF ad items). Either way, the people behind them in line don't get that TV. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that the end result is the same. So far this thread has been OK, but just a warning that if we start seeing comments intentionally made to stir the pot, those members will face consequences. This is always one of the "hot button" topics each year, so hopefully the discussion can continue as it's been :)

And if you want to keep track of the daily deals posted on the main, year-round GottaDeal.com site, that site has it's own RSS feed: http://www.gottadeal.com/rss.xml I'll post some of the best sales/deals from there on the Black Friday site (as the BF site gets more traffic these days), but there are usually 25-40 deals posted there per day as well that you might want to check out.

There is an RSS feed for all the news items: http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/rss.xml And there are many web sites which you can sign up to get e-mailed updates of any RSS feed. Just use the URL above and you'll get e-mailed updates. Here is one such site that will do that: http://www.rssfwd.com I haven't used any of these sites, so I can't say how quickly they e-mail you once I post a new news item. Also, while we mostly will use the new ad alerts for letting you know about new ads posted, if there is any particularly big news, we'll also included that in the e-mails as well. But the RSS feed is the easiest way to keep updated, and there are literally thousands of things you can do with that - you can set up a screen saver on your computer that shows RSS feeds, have updates sent to a cell phone, etc...

I wondered that myself. I'm not sure if I should be happy or upset to be missing out on the thronging this year.
-
Agreed. That's a nice price and for once a Wii bundle that actually saves you money vs. buying things individually.
-
You might find a few, but the problem is during that time of year, most stores in cold-weather areas don't even carry them, so for a national BF ad, the stores won't feature items that you can't get in a lot of areas. They may have 1 or 2 special models they bring in, but that would probably be it. If you live in an area where they carry a big selection year-round, your individual stores might do deals for them on BF even if they aren't in the ads.

I'm sure there we'll be. On the main GottaDeal.com site: http://www.gottadeal.com/Deals/Category/digitalframe we've posted deals for 5.6" frames for $29 and 7" frames for $35-39 in the last few months, so you can expect similar prices in the ads. Of course with digital frames you usually get what you pay for, so if you go cheap, you might not get as good picture quality or other features as if you spent a little more.

There will definitely be more "real world" contests for t-shirts :)
-
wow, very close. since i'm such a nice guy, i'll give t-shirts to both of you. check your PMs in a few minutes :)
-
LOL. Not that easy. Don't worry - I still have plenty of shirts to give away during the next month :)
-
And for the record, Half Price Books intentionally sent us this information themselves :) (and I'm working on them trying to get a GC or something to give away here on the site too...)

A quick contest that makes the winner do a little work.... Here is what you have to do: 1. Print out the first page of this thread 2. Go to a store that usually has a BF sale (not somewhere like a gas station) 3. Take a picture of the printed thread somewhere inside the store that shows what store you are in. 4. Come back and post the picture in this thread The first person to do that wins a Black Friday t-shirt :) Obviously no photoshopped pics or anything like that. If I have any doubts about the validity of the pic, you won't win. I may ask for the original photo to be sent to me. Easy enough? Just be the first and you win - no random drawings or anything - first one wins http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/images/bfshirt.jpg

I'm going to start posting notices of new Black Friday ads in this forum as well, just in case some of you don't check out the individual store sub-forums that often. You can find the link to the ad and discussion thread here: http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=122832
