wx4svr Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I'm gonna come out and say it right now... is ANYONE else not impressed with their sales?! Seriously.. I would have thought they would actually have something better. Guess I will be waiting for more to come in.

I would have thought they would actually have something better. Guess I will be waiting for more to come in.Oh yes, I am not impressed at all...I Have been camping out at Best Buy for many years now....This will be the FIRST year, I am not doing that ANY more...nothing seems worth it to me...
wx4svr Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 If you aren't impressed.. I suggest we merge that part of the equation over to http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=125413
afrey66 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I see one thing I want. I just don't know how badly I want it to battle the insanity of Best Buy on Black Friday.
BCBGirl Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I'm sharing this with the entire office right now and scheduling a conference call just to discuss the ad? Thank you Brad!! What do you think about the washer and dryer for $549? Seems like a great deal..?
shopping mom Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 The only thing I see on my list that is not on sale somewhere else is the Transformers on blu-ray. I will probably try to price match it somewhere else.
dragonballnutts Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Not Impressed at all !! Does anybody else think that maybe this is just a ploy and that maybe they are gonna sweeten the deal as we get closer to BF? I mean seriously, the PS3 deal was weak compared to what Walmart did last weekend, the Toshiba laptop was nowhere near the two hundred mark and everything else was just horrible. I hope they make improvements because seriously I will not even be stopping there the way it is now.Best Buy has been making it a habit of doing TWO ads. The regular one and then the one that can be viewed "online only" I sure hope they do that again this year. If not..looks like I am not going.
jennie_bebe Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Question: So the "2nd-online only ad"-will that only have sales online, or will it include sales that will be in stores on BF? Thanks, I cannot remember from last year.
countingcrow Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Question: So the "2nd-online only ad"-will that only have sales online, or will it include sales that will be in stores on BF? Thanks, I cannot remember from last year.Best Buy always has 2 ads, the paper ad, and then their unadvertised specials (some are in-store only, some are available online and in-store) on their website which they usually promote on tv the few days leading up to Black Friday. Almost always the best deals Best Buy has are the unadvertised specials which you have to look for on their website. last year everything in the paper ad, plus their unadvertised specials went on sale Thanksgiving Day. Also, many items in their ad are being beat already by other BF ads, so I would expect Best Buy will drop some prices to match, like the Sony Blu-Ray player for instance.
jamieva Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Well I guess I'll be going to Sears for the Sony blu ray instead of BB
flyjar Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Well I guess I'll be going to Sears for the Sony blu ray instead of BBGo to KMart, Thanksgiving Day instead, $180.
BrotherFlounder Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Pretty unspectacular. The laptops are decent enough, but the rest of the ad is kinda meh. On the other hand, I didn't see a single item listed with rebates; they're all with "savings".
DaFees Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I feel we are not seeing the whole picture in this ad. I feel someone is either giving us incomplete or invalid information. I'm not trying to say the ad is fake, but seriously were all the movie deals. I look at last year's ad which had like a whole page of movie deals including the everything HBO half off. I see nothing to this effect in this years ad. Plus this years ad is 14 pages shorter than last year's ad. Something seems odd. Am I right?
mommy2justin Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Where are all the movies and CDs? That's usually the only things I'm after.
noehlp Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I'm sharing this with the entire office right now and scheduling a conference call just to discuss the ad? Thank you Brad!! What do you think about the washer and dryer for $549? Seems like a great deal..?Lmao. Ok, are you seriously having a conference call about it? I guess that might be a good idea, just would be a little funny. lol

Am I right? In one of the ad scans a lot of the blu-ray movies and tv seasons shows at great prices are barely shown, but they are there. I was surprised not to see the HBO in this ad, but it has become a yearly tradition to put those all on sale, so I wouldn't give up hope just yet.
dragonballnutts Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Best Buy does not do rebates, any manufacturer rebates are paid for by Best Buy on your behalf, so you get the savings instantly. You don't get all your savings instantly and some rebates have to be sent in by you. I had to send in one from Best Buy for my free Vista upgrade. I had to send it to the Microsoft manufacturer, Best Buy did nothing but sell me the pc.
ashemgra Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 don't they usually have a little half page flyer thing attached to the ad for door busters? I can say there is nothing in there that is worth getting in line at 5 am friday for! I'll be skipping BB if this is it!
countingcrow Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 You don't get all your savings instantly and some rebates have to be sent in by you. I had to send in one from Best Buy for my free Vista upgrade. I had to send it to the Microsoft manufacturer, Best Buy did nothing but sell me the pc.The Vista upgrade program was a special case because the computers being sold did not have Vista already preinstalled. Best Buy does not do rebates, they quit offering mail in rebates a couple years ago.
dragonballnutts Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Ok...I am sending out an APB for deals like these: BestBuy - Toshiba A135-S7403 Laptop & Canon 3-in-1 Printer Bundle - 229.99 BestBuy - eMachines Celeron Desktop w/ 17" LCD & All-in-One Printer - 199.97 ^These were part of the "secret sale" that did not show up until a few days before Thanksgiving. BestBuy - AT&T GoPhone Pay-As-You-Go Cell Phone - 5.99 BestBuy - Big Daddy, King Kong, Few Good Men, Best Friend''s Wedding DVDs - 2.49 Too much stuff to list! But I want prices that make you wanna slap yo momma! BestBuy - Compaq Dual Core Desktop w/ 1GB, 250GB, 17" LCD Monitor - 399.97 < This one from last BF had the Compaq brand name and was Core Duo. The one they are offering this year is $100 cheaper for 1 more gig of ram, more hd space, and a bigger lcd monitor, BUT you lose the name and processor speed. Seems like $299 might just be a pretty sweet deal on a desktop.
Klownicle Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I think the sony laptop is a decent deal. You won't find a blu ray laptop for under 950$. And this one is a SONY for 899.99 with a free casino royale on blu ray. I like that. The Internal Blu Ray Rom by LG is a good one too. Its 99$ on newegg right now, but this is in store which you usally don't see at a place like bestbuy. Not on sale by much, but id pick it up just becuase its local.
batojefe Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I bet they end up with an even cheaper laptop. Since they just came out with a $300 one, I think they will hit a $200 or $250 mark.
ginabarrett Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 I know that a year or two ago our Best Buy did not follow the ad that was released on here. They said that the ads are regional and they were right... the ad that came in our paper was completely different, though the ad on here seemed legit for some members in their areas. I had gone to buy something in advance and then was going to price adjust. I hesitated on it as it had a hefty restocking fee if they didn't price adjust and I just returned it. I decided to believe the employees (manager included) and am glad I did, our ad was totally different. Just FYI
Guest CS.Dean Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 Looks like a year for smaller items from this ad. Still really curious about the secondary ad that everyone knows is comming

I know the movies are missing--they always have DVDs and CD's at terrific prices--is somebody messing with us
General MarioXx Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 ya i almost wanna call shenanigans on this ad. i wont cause i dont know for sure, but..... i just dunno
