yummy mummy Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 ohhh i didn't even know this existed!!! anyone know if anywhere in NY does this????
arci122 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 no tax free here in NY, but they do it one weekend near back to school and one weekend in the spring. Vt is close, just go over the border where there is never tax on clothes
overtheedge Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 SC did it in 2006 but not 2007, would love to know if they're doing it this year!
wx4svr Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 KY, or Louisville for that matter, doesn't do anything like that.
drod58 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 New Jersey is always tax free on clothes and shoes and the food that you buy at the supermarkets.
guilliam Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Ohio taxes you on everything they can think of as much as they can get away with
iloveblkfriday Posted October 5, 2008 Author Posted October 5, 2008 SC did it in 2006 but not 2007, would love to know if they're doing it this year!they did in Seneca, Anderson and other parts of SC 2007
angelbabymommy Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Delaware is tax free everyday, all day of course...:)
BrandyJervas Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 I wonder if any other counties in NJ do tax free
Tara3117 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Depending on where you live in NY, it might be just as close to go to MA, which is also always tax free on clothes. (However, those of us lucky enough to live on the NH border will be shopping there as always!)
Princess7915 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 I think Virginia would Tax your Taxes if they could figure out a way to get away with it!!!
ljl3185 Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Ohio taxes you on everything they can think of as much as they can get away with It seems like Ohio gets away with anything and everything it wants to and doesn't really do anything at all to help its' residents.
andybrooke Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Ohio taxes you on everything they can think of as much as they can get away with
dswright Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 It seems like Ohio gets away with anything and everything it wants to and doesn't really do anything at all to help its' residents.Amen to that, we left 5 years ago and haven't looked back. The problem is that KY isn't a whole lot better. Income redistribution is big here, take from the rich areas around Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati and move the money to the poor areas.
Iliveforblckfri Posted October 12, 2008 Posted October 12, 2008 Come vacation for Thanksgiving in Alaska. We are tax free. We don't have as many stores, but we don't have to pay taxes. We also don't have the crowds. This doesn't mean that there are not lines outside WalMart and people camping out at Best Buy.
Scanner420 Posted October 13, 2008 Posted October 13, 2008 Delaware is tax free everyday, all day of course...:)And there's always a 2-3 hour wait to get into the Christiana Mall every Black Friday.
johjstc Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Is Ohio's black friday sale prices different then everywhere else? I could be wrong but I thought I heard something last year that some prices were higher.
fairydustcrissy Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Is Ohio's black friday sale prices different then everywhere else? I could be wrong but I thought I heard something last year that some prices were higher.Yes, Ohio has some law that makes doorbuster prices almost impossible, so most things are significantly higher.
KrystalMae1231 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 ILLINOIS IS THE SAME WAY. We are now up to 10% tax on takeout and 8.5%-10% on everything else. NOTHING IS TAX FREE!! i even go to our auction house and they tax. Wasn't that stuff taxed when it was purchased the first time!!!! I hope we get a good president to help relieve some of this crap.
Ohiocat2382 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 I'm pretty sure our door busters were the same as everybody else's (Our ad's were the same as the one's that were posted here). I think it's Michigan or Wisconsin that has that law. As for taxes, anything and everything is taxed. I never knew other states had tax free days or were tax free.
yummy mummy Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 LMAO try living in Ontario, Canada! not only do we pay FAR, FAR more for everything than you guys do, we also pay 13% sales tax on top of everything! i think you guys are getting a deal compared to me lol! oh and that just went down in the last couple of years, it WAS 15% !
sbwolfer Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 salem county in south jersey is always tax free salem county is tax free cause it is so depressed areaIt's not tax free. Clothing and food are tax free. Toys, electronics and most of the things you'd purchase on BF are not tax free. I find it kind of sad if you live there and don't even know how much tax you're paying on the stuff that you buy. Delaware is tax free everyday, all day of course...:)Which is why I cross the bridge to shop there! Plus there isn't much other than Walmart in my area. Everything I want is in Delaware! And there's always a 2-3 hour wait to get into the Christiana Mall every Black Friday. I go every year and have never waited any longer there than any where else. They've opened at 3 a.m and I get there around 1:30-2 am and get in within minutes of the doors opening. I hear they aren't going to open until 5 this year though which sucks.
hwunch Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 I will get the exact date soon but I think South Carolina is doing this again I will get other states as well if any others do this but if anyone else knows any info let us know please! SC will NOT be doing this again per the SCDOR website.:(
