  1. Just looking for a cheapie 15" LCD TV to put in a workout room we are creating. Any good prices out there?
  2. The Kohls cash is equal to an additional discount in my book. That's really what pulls me into the store on BF. We'll spend about 250-300, use the 15% 1 day card, and get 40-50 off another purchase. There's always gift exchanges, teacher presents, or unexpected gifts to buy, that's what makes the Kohls cash great here. We do visit the store late Wed on a recon mission to find out where everything is at for Friday morning,
  3. Definitely buy papers Wed and Thurs. The earlier on Thursday, the better.
  4. After looking at most of the ads, including Wal Mart, we have decided to only shop at Kohl's this year. We may pay a few pennies more on a few things, but the other ads are just not worth the effort this year. Kohls isn't spectacular but has the most bang for our buck with the pick a sale day discount and 10 back for 50 spent.
  5. I work for USA Today, you will not have national ads there for Black Friday. Try to find a large city paper for everything you need. If you are close to an interstate, someplace like a Pilot Truck stop should have several papers from your region.
  6. Somewhat different from years past, Meijer used to be #1 but I see nothing to buy this year: Kohls 1st-use the 15% any day discount and 10 back for spending 50. Macys 2nd-10 off 25 and 1/2 off clearance I'll be at CVS Thursday and Meijer Saturday.
  7. Garden Ridge Shoe Carnival usually has decent stuff Dillards Gordmans Does NY and Company do a BF ad? I have a BF Family Christian store ad that came in the mail, they have some good items for those interested in that type of store.
  8. The WM ad is not a secret, it is out there. Brad does not want to test the waters in regards to WM's up front warning, and we should respect him for that. As for the other ads, I spent 5 years with mailroom access at a daily newspaper. The retailers have a deadline to get the ads on site for packaging, that deadline used to be the Friday before Thanksgiving for Thanksgiving Day insertion, I am not sure what it is now. Any ad not leaked should be on site at the newspaper warehouses by this weekend.
  9. The closest Meijer store to Cleveland would be Sandusky or Mansfield, both about an hour away to the west or southwest. Meijer owned several plots of land throughout NE Ohio but decided not to open any stores in that market. One was under construction in Wooster and corporate told the builders to stop clearing the land. I made many treks out US 30 to Mansfield from Canton on BF during my time in NE Ohio, they have the best deals out there. Now I live near 2 of them.
  10. So far the best ad released. I'll be there Thanksgiving morning.
  11. Got mine today, I know what day I'm saving it for too.

    Garden Ridge

Our Garden Ridge has done that the past several years, that place is jammed on Thanksgiving evening. I have never been during the overnight hours though.
  13. Looks like Nicholasville Rd Lexington, KY is gone but Hamburg remains. I checked in Ohio and it looks like nothing remains between Canton, OH and Cleveland, not sure how many were left in the Akron area.
  14. The exact opposite is true here. Too many bad experiences at Wal Mart sent me to Meijer and K Mart.
  15. Just a heads up, the Wal Mart in Georgetown will go through the ads on Thanksgiving Day and remove all video games and movies that are "too cheap" at the competition and tell you they are out of stock so they do not need to price match. I tried that route and failed. The Frankfort store has the same DM, best of luck to you.
  16. I really don't know how Wal Mart can stay in business in areas with Meijer around. Even Target is better than Wal Mart. Unfortunately had I to buy 1 thing at a Wal Mart while in Florida last week, and it scanned up wrong. I think I would go without something than go to Wal Mart to buy it.
  17. Amen to that, we left 5 years ago and haven't looked back. The problem is that KY isn't a whole lot better. Income redistribution is big here, take from the rich areas around Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati and move the money to the poor areas.
  18. Meijer Meijer Meijer Meijer Then a distant 2nd and 3rd: CVS Kohls
  19. Meijer usually has a better Thanksgiving Day only ad than the BF ad for the day after. Our Meijer was wild Thanksgiving morning at 3:30 AM when I arrived. I drove 20 miles and passed 1 car on the interstate, so I thought things would be quiet. The parking lot was 75% full with 2 TV stations inside doing stories about the crowds when I arrived. The front registers were mobbed at 6:00 when the prices kicked in. KMart usually has a video game or 2 worth trying to buy. Big Lots has an ad too. Garden Ridge is also open with a nonstop 24 hour sale that day. Wal Marts here only close from 6 Christmas Eve until 6 the day after Christmas, but they have no ad. I am usually solo on Thanksgiving morning, then the family gets involved on BF.
  20. I found a Wii at Meijer during the last 15% off credit card sale, making it 212 and change +tax. I was not going to find it cheaper than that.
  21. Meijer year in and year out has by far the best BF and Thanksgiving prices out there. It is always the first stop both days.
  22. I was there last year visiting family. I'll be glad to be back in KY this year though. Massillon/Canton is kind of rough on BF since there is only 1 of everything (except Walmart). I like the Lexington area as I have 5 Kohls within 20 minutes, 2 Meijer, 2 Best Buys, 2 Circuit Citys, 2 Targets and so on-that makes the crowds a little more manageable.
  23. If you are in Meijer territory look for the credit card discount day. At 130 a unit and 15% off with the CC, you can knock $40.00 off the total price. I was able to find a Wii during the last CC discount day and took it home for 212+tax.
  24. Our ad came in the mail for 1-5 in KY. The feature is 1/2 off the markdown price on almost all clearance storewide. Match up with the 20 off 50 and 15 off 50 that came in the mail, and it is time to do some shopping now.
