shopping mom Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 Because of this site and the deals posted many have already completed some, most or all of their shopping. I was just wondering who has done what. As for me I don't have enough done to say I have done anything. I have gotten a partial list together of ideas but that is it.
conj Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I don't have a percentage - but certainly some. We are trying to cut back this year, as we tend to shop for everyone... and it is time some of the grown-ups get moved off the list... Thank you for including hanukah! Last year we gave the kids teachers Hanukah presents.. (we figured what the heck, people give us Xmas presents without considering what we celebrate... so why couldn't we do the same?) it went over very well. This year DD has a Jewish teacher - so it will be more appropriate.
sunni0913 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I am about 60% done. I try to buy all year long that way I am not rushed and broke at xmas.
natasha Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I normally wait until Oct(Toys R Us big book), but the majority I do on BF. My kids are 13 and 10 and aren't really into toys. I don't like buying electronics to early, b/c if we have a problem. The receipt is only good for 60-90 days.
mccabefamily29 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I haven't started...and yes panic is setting in. I hate doing it all at once.
Miss Star Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I haven't even thought about getting started but yesterday my mom did mention we should get started on the shopping list lol
Spotted1 Posted August 26, 2008 Posted August 26, 2008 I haven't started yet, and its making me nervous. I usually pick up a few things from clearance all year long. I just haven't seen a deal/item thats made me go "OH! Perfect!" for anybody yet.
cassgurlie04 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:shoppingtime:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:
Miss Star Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 So I have a small list together now and will probably pick up a few things next week lol
elena_398 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Im 90% done with my kids. (Target helped with their electronics... Flip camcorder for my son for $50 down from $149, DS systems for $125, Games for my daughter- $14.99, etc) Oh and amazon.com helped too. lol
zim05 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I have yet to start and probably wouldn't until BF, the only thing I would get now is the Wii and the Wii Fits if I see them anywhere!
JennG Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I have a few things done... My list are made and I am waiting on my husbands list. He is a PITA to shop for because nothing ever is on sale! UGH!!!!! I need to cut back on my kids toys this year. I always buy waaaayyyy to much!
DramaQueenLucy Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I still have more then a few things to buy but I have my Parents done, all the kids little stuff done and now I still need to get each childs big gift, some video games and gifts for the mail person, teachers, boss, etc
krissy72 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 I wait until bf. My DD10 always changes her mind on what she wants so I don't dare start early.
berry1014 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 We are about 25% done. Still on the hunt for some good deals. We will really kick off our shopping in Oct and will hopefully be done by BF weekend.
arci122 Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 A few items done, and a good part of my list started for ideas.
guilliam Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I usually try to get the main items my kids want way in advance to make sure I get them. But so far, the kids and dh haven't mentioned anything they want:shock:
Kanyon71 Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 None here. We're trying to figure out if we're going to be moving out of state soon. Once that's figured out I'm sure we'll start picking up things as we see them.
hockeyfanamo Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I'm finished with our youngest niece. This year we got her a pink DS, Padded Case, and 3 games. My Mom, MIL, and Mamaw each get goodie baskets each year. I have started them with B&BW, and a season each of thier favorite TV series. I usually end up finding small items that they would like and adding them until I mail out the baskets. They seem to really enjoy the suprise each year. They just never know what will be in them Our nephew will get giftcards and I'm not sure for my Sister in Law.
chrisjuvers Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I've been picking up Wii games like crazy for about $9.99 at the TRU sales and I have 4 boys so I will need a ton of stuff!
Kaarak Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 This is the first year that I haven't started yet. I am definitley getting nervous. I'm going to start putting together an organizational notebook with lists, etc.
vsa3janes Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I am about 3/4 of the way finish. I hope to have everything done by the end of October.
Vickis3js Posted September 4, 2008 Posted September 4, 2008 Well since we are taking out kids to Disney this Christmas/Hannukah they are done. I figure several thousand on a vacation is good enough. I made my DD's appointments at the little boutique in Disney on Christmas day as a surprise and my DS is going somewhere with DH so thats their special thing. BUT I am still going out on Black Friday. I have no clue what for but darn it I am not breaking tradition. I would seriously miss it if I didn;t go.
chrissy1979c Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Wow I haven't even thought about making lists yet or shopping yet. I just want BF to come!! I'm so addicted it's not even funny and the sad part is, this website has made my addiction about 200% worse!!! I'm on here so much reading everything I can Thanks for all the advice! Keep it coming!!
Bigbroad55 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Usually I have a few things by now nothing yet. Between the car accident in June totalling out my car and me being on bed rest. ETCETC
Scanner420 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I got a few gifts for my oldest son that I thought he'd like and wanted to be sure that he got. I'll be looking for a few more items between her and BF before the big sales happen. (wanna keep the kids happy this year)
abentley Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I am still waiting on ideas for our ds18, now that he has moved away for college. I have one other gift to purchase to be ready to ship out packages..other than that I could be done, but I won't quit shopping and looking!!
elena_398 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Just ordered my last gift for my daughter- a portable dvd player from Walmart (bought from there as I have $100 in Walmart gift cards) and a cd. Paid only a few dollars out of pocket. So this BF, I have to watch as my kids are done so what I buy now will be "extras"
miller205 Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I am seriously in a funk as to what to buy. This morning I went to TJ Maxx's skiing and snowboarding event and put a North Face jacket, Columbia snow pants, and a North Face Fleece hoodie on layaway for my 2 d's. Other than that I am clueless. Maybe a GPS for oldest D. Youngest D is so picky about everything I hate to shop for her anymore. And forget about DH!!
