BoulderChick Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Hi Everyone, While reading the posts I've noticed that a few people give gifts to 40+ people. Wow, That is a lot of people! So I was thinking about who/how many people we give gifts to. Here's my list DH Mom Dad Brother My BFF 1st BIL & SIL and 2 Nephews 2nd BIL & SIL DH's Gma and Gpa DH's Dad and his new wife DH's Assistant Total of 16 people. So, 16 people total, 4 of the gifts are Couple/Family gifts and are Colorado themed gifts. The Nephews each got cool age appropriate gifts and books. DH's Assistant loves to workout and I put together a fun gift for her. I enjoy shopping for DH, my Mom, Dad and Brother, the most. I Love my family and I know them better than anyone else. So they are easy to shop for. My Mom, Dad and Brother will recieve at least 5 gifts each and a bunch of stocking stuffers. Oops I almost forgot about the puppies. Treats, Toys and a new bed and collar for my girl! Who do you shop for? How many different people? Happy Holidays!
dmmiller Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Besides my kids & DH, there are teachers and a few kids the boys are friends with. Both our families have either a gift exchange or non at all, so only about 2 gifts there. And then I have 2 nieces and a nephew. So all in all.. about 12.
mcapel4444 Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 -Dh & I haven't exchanged gifts the last couple of years- money issues. Although I did pick him up a few little things this year, and will make him a stocking with candy in it. - My 4 boys -My parents -Brother & his family- sil, 3 nephews & 1 niece -Other Brother So 14 in intermediate family. I don't really buy for dh's side anymore. But when I did, there would be an extra 10-12 presents. I also do something for various friends each year.

I should still get something for my uncle (who is also my boss and my favorite uncle :))...but I can't think of what. I think he'd like his own personal batch of chocolate chip cookies with walnuts. I also buy something little (about $5) for all of my co-works of which there are 32 but I don't count them on my real list because they all get the same item--this year it was a cute yankee candle tea light holder and 2 tea lights.

jbdinos Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Well let's see DH (this year we bought new living room furniture for each other though) 5 kids and 1 son in law 2 grandkids my sister, bil, 2 nieces my BFF, her DH, and 2 kids My MIL and her BF My ex-stepFIL and little brother in law (age 12) DH's grandma and her DH My DH's ex step mom (raised him) Rest of DH's siblings, father, and grandparents go in a name draw so we get 2 names from there All of DH's under 16 siblings, neices, nephews go in a drawing for kids and so we get 4 names from there. So that is 30 on my list. But we do a token gift to my FIL if neither of us get his name because we appreciate how well he did raising my DH with no support or assistance from my MIL. It's about respect, nothing pricey. We do same for grandma on that side if we don't get her name (but I did this year!!!) Then at work I have 8 staff that I buy something small for to let them know I remember them (usually around 2-3 dollars each) and of course any teachers or bus drivers that have been exceptional with the kids. So I guess that puts me over 40 too.... WOW.. I had no clue it was that many..... and the sad thing is that a few years ago I cut out all of my family except my one sister that I am very close to. Cut out some friends that we used to exchange with and started the name draw (huge family for DH, name draw for adults goes from 10 gifts to 2. Name draw for kids goes from 9 to 4) At least we have a good place to get good deals!!!!!!
conj Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I had the over 40 post. DH & I buy for: Each other (2) the kids(2) his sisters & their husbands (6) His nieces, nephews, their spouses and their kids (8) his folks (2) his SM grand kids (3) his grandmother (1) my folks(2) my sister, her fiancee and his daughter (3) Her roommate (1) An uncle and aunt (2) the babysitter and daycare (2) DSs teachers (4) DDs teachers (1) close friends (11) the neighbors (3) my hair dresser (1) My work gift swap (1) In addition I buy ornaments for everyone in my office every year. I took a tag off the angel tree this year, and a brought a box of toys to the radio station toys-for-tots like promotion. The kids have their own lists - many are the same people as above - and I buy the craft material so they can make their presents. This does not include the 4 December birthdays....
childofsolitude Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 My mom, my dad, my two sisters, my sister's fiancee, and my niece. That's all.
Grassy Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Husband 2 boys -- that's the majority of my spending this year, I'm having another baby in March, so I feel like spoiling them more than usual. Their totals each are still under $75.00 per kid. My Grandma My Grandpa in AZ Mom/stepdad Dad/stepmom Brother, his wife, his baby Mother & Father in Law Husbands brother, wife, 2 kids Husbands sister Husbands other sister, husband, 2 kids 3 dogs 2 cats 1 bird mail carrier 2 preschool teachers It's not too bad. I find deals, and I make handmade gifts for the teachers and mailman and each female of the family, but still get nice gifts for EACH person in the family. I mainly focus more on the kids. The brothers/sisters/in laws are just "thought gifts".
Grassy Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 My mom, my dad, my two sisters, my sister's fiancee, and my niece. That's all. That sounds so easy, and relaxing. I hope you have fun shopping for your main "loved ones". :)
