kim_r4 Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I got my sticky little hands on a wii and was wondering if anyone could offer game suggestions. I have four kids, ages 6-12. I bought wii play for the extra remote, but does anyone have suggestions for what games are the best ? (Or which ones to avoid!) I saw the tru sale and want to pick up a few more so any opinions would be greatly appreciated! tia

High School Musical, Guitar Hero, Super Smash Bros Brawl (coming out 2/08). They have Elebits, Mario Strikers, Raving Rabbids, Excite Truck, Zelda Twilight Princess (DS loves this), Sonic & Secret Rings, Warrior Ware Smooth Moves & Super Monkey Ball Bana Blitz. Just to give you an idea. The ones that they do have they love.
conj Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 everyone but me is now sitting around playing the new linx game with the cross bow (ages 7-33)
kim_r4 Posted December 9, 2007 Author Posted December 9, 2007 Thank you so much!! I ordered Sonic & the Secret rings and Super Monkey Ball a couple of weeks ago, so I'm glad to see they're good games. Not sure if the sonic one will ever come, since Best Buy keeps emailing me that it's backordered. grrrr That Elebits game looks so cute! My two incredibly destructive boys would love that! I put that one and Excite Truck in my shopping cart at tru, but neither one of them are on the bogo 1/2 off sale. Now I'm on a mission to find them on sale!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my post!
racerfan Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 everyone but me is now sitting around playing the new linx game with the cross bow (ages 7-33)My DS loves the new Linx game also. I forgot about that one. As I type my DD is playing Wii Sports.
LoveNcMountains Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 My BOYS all like Pokemon and Mario games. Individually they all like other things too but I know I can't go wrong with Mario and Pokemon.
ilgetumipretty Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Playground & Carnival Games, kids and parents will love these!
Xfeg Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Mario Party 8 is really great. Its one of my favorites.
dtwdmaty Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 DD's 7 & 10 will play Wario Smooth Moves for hours on end. I like Marble Mania myself. DD10 and I completed the entire game over the course of a few months. Other favs are Raving Rabbids, Mario Party and Brain Age. I've heard good things anbout Mario Galaxy, but it's wrapped up for Christmas....
tinydancer34 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Our kids (5 and 7) love Wii Play (plus you get the extra controller) and Carnival Games. Older DS votes for anything Pokemon, but Big Brain Academy (different from Brain Age) is fun even for him. He can't do all the mini-tests well, but he loves it anyway!
fairydustcrissy Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was really fun. Not really for the 6yo, but the 12yo could definately enjoy it. Wario Ware Somooth Moves gets played tons here as well. Super Paper mario is another fun one. We got Mario Galaxy, but I havent played it yet.
childofsolitude Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 I have Mario Party 8 and it is really fun. I have a 7 year old cousin who likes to play and I'm 20 years old and I think it's awesome. It's great for any age. You can't go wrong with Mario.
littlesdcen Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 If they are boys Cars is a big hit in our house. I even go tractor tipping with mater.(sHHH)
AndreaInNC Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 My kids love Tony Hawk skateboarding and Excite Truck .. they love the driving games which I stink at.
khuddle Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 We got Play, Mario & Sonic Olympics, Mario Galaxy, Mario Party That is what we are starting with.... :)
berry Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Watch the Pokemon one requires having DS version players downloaded. Unless you have DS with previous versions, don't get this game. The game party game is awesome.
ljonesATL Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Something i just informed my sister on, you will need Wireless internet, unless you buy an adapter for the Wii. When i loaded in my Mario Galaxy I was prompted to do a system update. not sure if the game will play without it. So for those of you that do not have wireless internet or the adapter, you might want to get that before the big day. I wish i would have loaded up everything on my nephew's Wii before i mailed it off to him. But a $49 router isn't too bad. And lock down your wireless internet with a good long password. WPA encryption. Happy holidays!
katiesmommy01 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I have a 6-yr old daughter...so i've picked up HSM Sing it! W/mic, Hannah Montana, DDR w/dance pad, Mario party 8, Wii play (for the mote), and Star Wars Lego, and Princess Stories. Got the HSM from ebay for $50.50 and the Princess from Ebay also for $35...so saved almost $15 there. And hit ToysRus today for the buy 3 get one...got the hannah, mario and lego there with wii play for free. I think we are done for awhile! FYI, people who have had a wii for awhile now have told me to get the dual recharger for the remotes, saying that they go through batteries very quickly...so i've picked one of those up as well for $35 at GameStop (saw the same one for $30 on Amazon.com...but at least i have this one).
lakisha78 Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 everyone but me is now sitting around playing the new linx game with the cross bow (ages 7-33)Is this a good game?
First Lady Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Watch the Pokemon one requires having DS version players downloaded. Unless you have DS with previous versions, don't get this game.NOT true! You can play the game without having to download anything from a DS. If you have a DS you can download Pokemon from that, but otherwise, you can start the game without it! We have Pokemon Battle for Wii and played it for quite a while and then my sons friend with Diamond and Pearl for DS came over and we got some new Pokemon from him. But I repeat, you DO NOT need the DS to play this game. It's loads of fun!!!
conj Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Is this a good game?ya, pretty good. EVERYONE is playing it & there is lots of hidden stuff
Dlions720 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 The best games for our family is Mario Galaxy, Mario & Sonic Olympics & Shrek the 3rd.
ljvoskuil Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 What games are good for a 4 year old? Needs to be something an adult can also play.
my2kidsmom Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 What games are good for a 4 year old? Needs to be something an adult can also play.Wii Play and Carnival

I'm clueless on wireless anything...any more info is appreciated so my kids don't think I'm a total loser.
nat1jen Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Wish that I could help you, but I am a total loser in the software/hardware dept. My girls' dad actually came over to hook everything up. It really didn't take too long, but we were already wireless (although I had to call the cable company to get the password). I think the hardest thing was getting the controllers to sync. My girls just made the comment, "Gee mom. You never would have figured this out. See, dad is even having trouble." I bet there are plenty of helpful people on the board that would help you out if you get stuck. You will love the Wii. It is really cool, and my girls are loving it. I'm going to kick booty with my bowling skills.
lovinfavre Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 We have 4 kids...ages 10DD, 9DS, 7DD and 5DS. DD10 & DD7 love HSM Sing It and Hannah Montana games. DS9 loves Mario Galaxy, Wario Ware and Wii Play. DS5 loves Wario Ware. DS9, DD10, friend & DH are playing Wario right now. I'm not much on video games, but I like playing tennis and golf on Sports!
shop2it Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 We have Mario galaxy and it is very fun plus Mario Party 8 is a must. You do not have to have it hooked up to the internet. That's only for downloading games and weather and news info. Ours is not hooked up to the internet and it works fine. Also the Wii Play is fun, I love the cow racing!
