Brad Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/scans/gottadeal-blackfriday2007-joann.pdf warning, the scans/pics aren't the greatest as far as capturing the entire pages, so you'll have to make do with it until we get something better :)
StephanieD Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks for posting! I was hoping they would have more yarn on sale though.

lucyismycat Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 WhooooHooooooo! I will actually be getting up for BF now!! .99/yd fleece and 20% entire purchase. I have several no-tie fleece blankets to make! You might want to look at the ad again, I thought that flannel was .99/yard, and fleece was 2.79/yard. That's still a good price on fleece, so far this year they haven't had many sales where it was even 2.99/yard.
kselzer Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 hey i seem to have a reason to head out on Friday, lol! i always need more scrapbook paper and stickers
hopeky94 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I have several no-tie fleece blankets to make! Slightly OT, but-- how much fleece do you normally use to make one blanket (like a throw size blanket to cover up with while watching TV or put the kids on for a nap)? Just wondering how much it would cost me to make 3 or 4 of these, for my mom and nieces... TIA! :)

miller205 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Yes, I am pretty excited. I have been wanting to make some no-sew fleece blankets for gifts for my D's and maybe their teachers. Also wanted to make a holiday one for my house.
redraccoon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I will definately be there. This year I know to pull my customer number before I pick fabric - the line gets long in a big hurry.
snowbound Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 fleece is 2.79 it's the flannel that is .99 That is an awesome bargain though!
jbdinos Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I use 2 1/2 yards per side for one blanket. I have to make 7 blankets this year. YIKES!!!!!if you use 2 1/2 yards per side, how big does that make it? I am considering doing these for my boys for their January birthdays with a football print on one side and baseball on the other and they have twin beds and would like to do them big enough for their beds.
lucyismycat Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 2.5 yards would make a blanket 90" long and roughly 55-60" wide, since fleece varies in width. I make a lot of quilts, and my twin sized quilts are usually 70" x 90" or so. If you sew, you could add a border to the fleece to make it wider.
Guest Mom1979 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Yea if I go to STL I may hit Jo Anne's, the fabric sales are pretty good at .99/yard if they have what I want.
Shann Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Thanks for posting! I was hoping they would have more yarn on sale though.aww me too but whoo hoo! gonna stock up on fleece
hopeky94 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 For a not-very-crafty and minimal-sewing person like me-- is there something I could make or do with the .99/yd flannel?? It seems like such a good price, and I love the feel of flannel shirts, sheets, etc... I might be able to do something that requires a simple straight-line stitch with this fabric, if I get a plaid or striped print! LOL TIA!!
lucyismycat Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I've made pj bottoms out of them before, but they didn't last very long, I even serged them and they kind of fell apart at the seams. However, I've used it to back quilts before and had reasonable success. Some people make those raggy quilts that are supposed to have frayed edges, that would be a great use for this flannel! Another idea might be to cut up strips and tie them around a wreath frame (I saw a lady at Hancocks doing something similar last night as a demo). Pillowcases are wicked easy and might be a good use for this, especially the little travel ones. Those make good gifts on the cheap. Good luck!
Guest Mom1979 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 This is not my local jo Ann ad, ours is not as good on the fabric, oh well thanks anyway!
vucikn00 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Does anyone know if the Joann's doorbuster deals are usually available online? I saw something I'd like to get, but I'm out of town and would prefer to have it shipped to my house. Thanks!
