sbaldasare Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 http://www.scholastic.com/bookfairs/events/warehouse/ Information is up on the site for the customer appreciation sale in December. I printed my fast pass good for $10 off of $50 and can't wait. It's a great way to get new books at a very good discount.
VTmommy Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Bummer, no sales listed for states of NH, VT or even MA!
dancglady Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Thank you! My sister and I just made a date! :)

VTmommy Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Thanks!!! I clicked on the Community Book Sale, not on the Customer Appreciation Warehouse Sale list. That makes much more sense...I've been to the one in Williston, VT! LOL
lumbab Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Great post! I'm going to go to the one in our town and get books as party goody bag gifts instead of candy/toys this year. Considering all the toy recalls this year, it seems books are a safe way to go.
ellen zachariia Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Thanx I knew about the sale but not about the coupon until you mentioned it.
vbamother Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks, my son works in a college library and there is one listed near him.
iluvdeals Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks, I've been waiting for this sale to pick up some Christmas presents.
ljvoskuil Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I have never been to one of these sales and I was wondering what the prices are like? It would be a 45 minute drive and I am not sure if it would be worth going or not?
bovichtj Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I have never been to one of these sales and I was wondering what the prices are like? It would be a 45 minute drive and I am not sure if it would be worth going or not? They advertise prices of 30-80% discounts... The average is about 50%. I went last spring, took the $50 coupon thinking I wouldn't use it, but did :) For $42 I must have gotten 20 books... they also have great prices on notebooks, posters, and all the other stuff that comes in a book order. VERY good deals, esp. before Christmas!Joanne
ljvoskuil Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Thanks for the info. I think I just might go and check it out once.
wendygraham Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 thanks for the post!~~ i signed up, can't wait to check it out
mywarmbluefleece Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Love these- I am a teacher! Thanks for the info. for some reason, Scholastic didn't email me this time to remind me!
sbaldasare Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 Love these- I am a teacher! Thanks for the info. for some reason, Scholastic didn't email me this time to remind me! Now that you mention it, I didn't get an e-mail either. I had just been checking every so often.
shoppingal Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 So this is not open to the public?? "Warehouse Sales are exclusively for Book Fair chairpeople and volunteers, registered homeschoolers, and school personnel: principals, administrators, faculty, teachers, librarians, media specialists, and other educators" Man, I was excited!!
bovichtj Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 So this is not open to the public?? "Warehouse Sales are exclusively for Book Fair chairpeople and volunteers, registered homeschoolers, and school personnel: principals, administrators, faculty, teachers, librarians, media specialists, and other educators" Man, I was excited!!I have never seen anyone "carded," lol... homeschoolers are welcome, and they don't ask questions. That seems to be just a cover line :)Joanne
sbaldasare Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 I always just pick "volunteer" when I sign up. I've never had them ask any questions and I've been going for several years.
iluvdeals Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 If you register online and get the fast pass, you just show them at the door that you have the fast pass and they let you walk right in.
trbarginhunter Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I have been going to theses sales for years and no one has ever asked how I "qualify". And if someone did I'd say volunteer. Because I do...for the PTA, Girl Scouts, Church. Or homeschooler. Because I do...just not full time, but DD is always interested in something they aren't teaching. Really, I think it's just a cover line as an earlier poster mentioned. Don't forget tissues--it can be really dusty, not dirty, but enough to drive my allergies nuts. And they have books for all ages, not just childern. Lots of cook books, gift books, some non fiction for adults. Klutz kits, some American Girl stationary items (no doll items), posters. Watch the computer items to make sure they are current (a friend forgot to check and couldn't use the software she bought). Typically they have a lot of Harry Potter items, they publish the books in the US. Journals, pens, books, etc. Have Fun!
khuddle Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 yep.. I have gone for years! When I was buying for a child care center and now that I am not.. I still go. I teach sign lang. and sunday school.... and I will buy for my sons school class... They really do not care.
vsa3janes Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Before you go to the sale check out sortfloorbooks.com. They have Scholastic books for less than 1/2 price. There is free shipping on $10 or more until Nov 26th. I rcvd my first order today and the books are all new. The only blemish is a pen mark over the upc code. I bought books that were at my granddaughter's school sale last week. We visit the warehouse sale every year but now I will shop this site instead.
jendeere Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I printed out the coupon and pass a few days ago, I hadn't ever heard about these sales but I'm willing to make the 2.5 hour drive to check it out!
trbarginhunter Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Oops, forgot to mention that if you have specific books in mind they have "locator" note books that can tell you which shelf and section to find your the books. They are fairly thick (think phone book) and fiarly small print, but they can be a lifesaver if you need specific titles. I didn't find out about these until last year, it saved me a lot of time for the few specific titiles I wanted.
SweetLittleAngels Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I just wanted to say thank you for this one. I worked as a volunteer in our local sale today and for my 2.5 hours of work, I was able to get 12 free books. So, thanks OP!
conj Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 I signed up as a volunteer - but they didn't call me. I did spend $40.
pria Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 My DD is 2.5 yrs old. Can someone please recommend books for that age? Thanks
