Brad Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 http://money.cnn.com/2007/11/13/news/companies/walmart_blackfridayad/index.htm Since this is a CNN story, feel free to comment on it, but again, do not post about anything not mentioned in the article. "according to sources at two Web sites that track Black Friday promotions" I have no idea who one of those sources could be...
Brad Posted November 13, 2007 Author Posted November 13, 2007 I like this part: Wal-Mart spokeswoman Melissa O'Brien did not address the leaks from its Black Friday sales circular. However, she said Wal-Mart is aware that "our Black Friday plans are the subject of some of the hottest rumors in town," O'Brien said in an email to CNNMoney.com. She said that's why the retailer has expanded early promotions, a practice it started last year. Uh, maybe there's been rumors because you had to be a bully and threaten everyone if they posted it. And the rumors weren't really "hot" and when you see the ad, you'll know why
Just Me Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I was just coming to PM you to ask if I could post the link to this article :) Personally I think this shows how lack luster the ad is. Not sure how good that Dell deal is. I ran the same specs on one (close as I can tell) and came up with a total of $850 so I guess its not to bad. The reest of it isn't impressing me at all Yeah I laughed about the failer to comment on the leak to. All bark no bite as everyone figured.
Brad Posted November 13, 2007 Author Posted November 13, 2007 The Dell deals are not that hot, evidenced by the fact that they are not doorbusters. If you pay attention on the site here, we'll have better deals between now and BF direct from Dell.
Just Me Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 yeah I have been watching. Unless BB cranks out something stellar in a secret ad I think I'll watch for deals here for a new computer
scarface Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Well i think the stores are watching these sites, on another site last nite someone posted the ad on their blogspot site and the blog got deleted by an admin i guess. I seen the ad before that, but people still want to see it even though it sucks because i guess its "walmart".

I seen the ad before that, but people still want to see it even though it sucks because i guess its "walmart".Tis the forbidden. What are they trying to keep us from seeing. Basically its crap lol. They don't want us to see their crap because they know we won't wait in hope that is is good crap. Basically they are worried we will buy better crap somewhere else if we see how lousy the ad is lol. Now I just need the TRU ad I wish that would leak already lol
femalesliealot Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Flat out...the ad blows. It's more like their standard weekly circular...nothing special.
shanni Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 The only people that will like it are ones looking for cheap clothing for their little ones.
krissy72 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Why is it ok for CNN to post the leaked deals but no one else can?
Just Me Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Why is it ok for CNN to post the leaked deals but no one else can?freedom of the press lol
Marcster Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Why is it ok for CNN to post the leaked deals but no one else can?Because "Freedom of the Press" does not apply to privately-owned deal sites.
hoits2000 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 You should have called Walmart on their bluff, I would have. Their ad sucks anyway, Targets is WAY better.
scarface Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Now I just need the TRU ad I wish that would leak already lolThat will be out very shortly.
lucyismycat Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Like other retailers, Wal-Mart is trying to stoke holiday shopping excitement early - fearful that Americans will spend less on gifts as housing and credit problems infect consumer spending. Is it just me, or does anybody else think they completely missed the boat. If they wanted to "stoke holiday shopping excitement early", why didn't they let their ad be shown? <--rhetorical question there, folks.
femalesliealot Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 You should have called Walmart on their bluff, I would have. Their ad sucks anyway, Targets is WAY better.I think almost every other ad is better then Walmart's. Walmart usually had some good stuff that gets me to their store at some point on BF but not this year.
hinman Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I want to know about the toy deals. Are they not going to have any toy deals? I am not going to go to another store and pay more for the same toy if it is cheaper at Wal-Mart. Sorry but I am not, every dollar I have counts so I try to spend it wisely.
hoits2000 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Haha thats weak. A 1400 1080P thats the best they can do? and wow you can save 2 dollars on an ipod!!! woohoo! What a bunch of crap, the only good they had was the 98 hd player.
sandy2000 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 A few of the bf things on "the store that shall not be named" I found either very close to the price available now or exactly the same price. I just really hope the secret in-store specials will be good. I personally will check the website on 11/22 to see.
Tessangel Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I am disappointed at Walmart's ad this year or atleast the rumors I have heard. I think I will be doing most of my shopping on Thanksgiving and most likely at Kmart and Target. I don't plan on going to Walmart at all!!! Seriously folks how many coffee makers and crockpots do you need at 4 bucks???? :lol
hinman Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Brad are you going to do that thing where if we can get it cheaper somewhere else or right now you wil put a blue shoping cart by it. ( Sorry if I got that wrong).
sandy2000 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I think they are going to do that. For me too, financially every penny counts. The ad had "some" good stuff but nothing that was "WOW".

They are like the first thing gone. I guess that is why they keep doing it.
Kim Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I agree about the $4. crock pots and such but I tell you what it is insane by them. They are like the first thing gone. I guess that is why they keep doing it. Just think, with $4 crockpots, they become disposable. A nice feature when making queso or other things that need to be melted.
peggbt Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Having worked for the Disney catalog (when it still existed) I can tell you that they would pull people off their usual jobs to moniter sites just like this one to find out what was being posted, what people were saying, etc. We would take the names that kept recurring to see if there was a trend or if it was the same people griping about the same stuff. To their credit, they would respond to trends. Big Brother Is Watching!
darkzone Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 LAME i was looking forward to their deals on TV after reading that i wanna
samisma Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 they'd have to have something really amazing to get me to come to their store. and that's saying something as they are the closest business to me (other than a gas station). i'll drive the extra hour or so for other retailers. but maybe this is because i'm not hunting for electronics - just toys and baby gear.
ehstrojette Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 money is REALLY tight this x-mas not like any other year has been so i am looking for cheap clothing(prices not make) and some good deals on toys.
