jarerice
How big is your Turkey? How many people do you feed?
bayhaysay
I have no clue how big the turkey is, I've never been responsible for cooking it (thank goodness).
kieransmummy
No too big, it just the six of us.
jarerice
I cooked the Turkey once in 10 years. Everyone said it turned out good, but noone has asked me to do it again!!!! My Mom always did one and so did my MIL. Now that Daddy is no longer with us, I get my Mom to come over to MIL's and everyone has a blast. There are Dh and me and our 2 kids, Dh's twin brother and his wife and their 2 kids, and dh's other brother, his wife and their 2 kids. There is Granny, MIL's sister and her 3 kids. Plus MIL's other sister comes over and her DH with their 2 older kids. And we can't forget about my MIL and FIL. It alot of fun!
blakes_mommy
I just got a 20 pound one for 9 of us. I think I need bigger but I love tons of left overs!! I will end up making an extra breast just to be safe!!
pogiporkchop
I don't even know if I'm getting one this year... too much trouble to go through for just 4 of us. Might just do a turkey breast this year if DH really wants turkey ("it's only once a year," he says). Of course with Meijer's current deal (buy the roaster that's on sale, get a turkey up to $25 and a chef's knife free) I may still end up with a turkey :)
berry1014
We have a 26 lb turkey. So far there will be 9 of us there for dinner. I am still waiting on answers from a few more people.
BFQueenofNY
I always buy a big turkey regardless of how many people I feed. I only do it once a year and it makes me happy :)
amez74
Dh's work always gives him a free turkey for the holidays--They never say the weight on them he just tries to pick out one of the bigger ones. Usually it is dh, me and four kids--lots of leftovers for sandwiches and potpie
pogiporkchop
Now that I know I'm going to get that roaster I better figure out what to do with the free turkey!
shopping mom
I have not bought ours yet but it will have to feed at least 25 at last count.

Spotted1
25lb turkey, plus a ham. There'll be 9-11 people here.
Princess7915
My turkey is 6'3 and 250lbs....sorry guys I couldn't resist!!!
guilliam
We go to my parents' house, but I did buy a 21 lb turkey because the local grocery store had a sale, if you spend $50 you get a turkey for $0.29/lb. Cost me $6.xx for a 21 lb turkey!! But dh and the kids like for me to cook one so they can eat it while I'm shopping on bf! So I'll probably cook it the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Kat07
My mom usually gets a 26 pound turkey that feeds 10 adults and 10 kids.
Iliveforblckfri
I don't even know if I'm getting one this year... too much trouble to go through for just 4 of us. Might just do a turkey breast this year if DH really wants turkey ("it's only once a year," he says). I thought that way last year about a ham. There were only going to be six of us. My nephew wanted a ham really bad. I held my ground. If he bought it, I would fix it. He didn't think that was fair(He is 24). Afterwards, I felt bad. It did cause bad feelings. Hubby and I stay at their house when we are in town. This year I will buy a big turkey and a ham and chalk the cost of it up to good will.
wyntyrose
Two 20lb turkeys and 2 hams, not sure of there size. We will have about 60 people for thanksgiving. Being military we have neighbors and single soldiers over. I can not wait.

pogiporkchop
Well, I got my free turkey - a nice little 13 pounder. Had a 20 pounder that a manager brought out from the back but gave it to the elderly lady who was making dinner for 10 people :) Now I'll be making turkey dinner early, tomorrow if possible, and then I can say I cooked a turkey! jazzy442
I have not gotten a turkey yet. I`m thinking about doing the deal with the roaster, knife and free turkey at Meijers. We always get at least a 20 pound bird for 6-10 people and lots of leftovers. Yumm.
mgmckny
I have 2 13lb turkeys in the freezer. When we used to do the big Christmas lunch at my house my husband suffered from turkey envy. He went to the store and got the biggest turkey they had (more than 26 lbs). We had to strap it in the booster seat to get it home! I wish I had pictures!! Now a smaller turkey does well for us. dd50
I usually get a 11 to 12 lb turkey, but this year my DD and her family will be here so I will get one around 18 lbs as there will be 9 of us.
kristablu28
I just picked up my "free" 25 lb turkey the other day. Our local supermarkets have this thing where if you buy $300 worth of groceries over a 6 week period you qualify for a free store brand turkey. If you want a Butterball (like I did) then they deduct 99 cents off per pound. The Butterballs are on sale for $1.29 a pound, so I ended up only pay around $6.00! I'm a happy bird! justjessie99
We had our "Thanksgiving" last Sat. We had a 12lb turkey Jennie-O Oven Ready, I love them ever since I did that Buzz last year, LOL. We are only a family of 4, so 12lbs was enough, plus we had left overs. The big family Thanksgiving is on Thanksgiving day at my parent's house and I have no idea how big the turkey is...LOL It's big..LOL
KittySkyfish
This year it's going to be just the two of us, so I bought a 9.5 lb turkey. Wee lil' birdie! I prefer a whole turkey over just the breast because I like to make stock w/ the bones n' carcass. :)
MandaJo111
I feel so lost this year. This is the first year ever that Thanksgiving will not be at my house. I am flying out to see the in laws so they are taking care of all the food... I am really going through withdrawals already (I love to cook!) I am even making a pumpkin pie this week to help me through it
dmmiller
I'll probably just do a small breast this year. Just gonna be me and the kids. DH has got to work, and no one is planning on coming to visit.
elena_398
Never a set turkey size. There is only the 4 of us, but my husband is a Turkey junkie. He wants me to get "a big one" this year for tons of leftovers. I was also asked to get the "good" bakery kaiser buns for sandwiches. LOL
princez916
I get the biggest turkey I can find in the store, usually 20+ lbs. We will have 13 for T-day, that I know of anyway (dh's family members like to show up sometimes). Dh cooks t-day dinner, including dessert, I just help with a few things, and of course I get the joy of the inevitable cleanup.
