shopping mom Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 DS's girlfriend want dishes for Christmas. My son says she wants purple. I have forund these two sets. One solid purple, one white with purple flowers. Kmart.com has 10% off housewares and the price differences is less than $5.00 a set. the also have free shipping if you spend a certain amount. I do not know her that well I just want to be nice to all prospective DIL's:) Which one do you like best. Hopefully the pictures will attach and the poll I am trying to expand my computer ability
Iliveforblckfri Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 My choice would be the white dishes with purple flowers, but then I am 41. I would go for the solid purple ones for a young adult. Good luck.
Gumball Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 You need to attach those pics as thumbnails because I can't see them well enough to choose.
shopping mom Posted October 20, 2007 Author Posted October 20, 2007 You need to attach those pics as thumbnails because I can't see them well enough to choose.I would if I knew how, but unfortunately I am computer duh!! if some ones can do it please do. This was my first time to get any pictures to post.
steph1 Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I like the solid purple -- looks sorta like fiesta ware. Cute for a young adult.
Kandy Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Out of the two above I'd go with the solid purple. However, I kinda like this one: http://s7.kmart.com/is/image/Sears/9990000069302211?hei=250&wid=250&op_sharpen=1&qlt=90,0&resMode=sharp&op_usm=0.9,0.5,0,0 Martha Stewart Everyday Hydrangea 20-Piece Set Kmart item# 9990000069302211 Mfr. model# 103681
Guest JustMeDiana Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I like the solid purple -- looks sorta like fiesta ware. Cute for a young adult.
doublehsmom Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I like the solid purple ones my self but I'm 22...lol.. funky!
becca0884 Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I like the solid purple. It does look kinda like the Fiesta collection, that I love. I'm 23 if that helps at all.
PerkynPunctual Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 Well, I'm, well let's just say I'm NOT in my twenties, but I vote solid purple also. You know that she wants purple, but do you know if she likes florals? I ask because I love purple but don't care for florals or grapes or any of that kind of busy stuff. I would prefer the solid purple for myself
HBKitmitto Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 She did say purple so I would go with the all purple ones.
kubisiak Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I would ask DS to question DFDIL on what she would really like. Dishes last a very long time and if you wanted solid and got floral you would be looking at them at every meal and thinking about what you really wanted. I am 56 and I like the solid purple. Much more modern and you could add so many colors to your table setting/decor if you wanted too to make it look different.
dealluvr Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 purple cause you could change the glassware to make the plates look different when you need to and purple is my favorite color i am over 50:fluffy:
jbdinos Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I vote for solid purple and I am 38. But I am rarely if ever a "flower" person. My oldest DD is 19 and she likes the purple too, wrinkled her nose at the flower ones... lol.... With solid she can add clear glasses or glasses with something purple on them over the years if she starts to not like want totally purple anymore. Personally I wish I had the $$ to redo my dishes, appliances, etc and I would go with bright colors as well... :-) Hope this all helps you decide... whichever one you decide I think I would see about attaching a gift receipt just in case and make sure she knows you won't be offended if she returns them.
mgmckny Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I'm 49 and I vote for the purple! But I also love that color. She could mix it with white dishes if she wants to change it, or if she needs to stretch out place settings for a crowd...
Gumball Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I looked it up on Kmart's site and I vote for the purple too. She could also decide to go for a rainbow effect and have other colors in there too (like Fiestaware).
Spotted1 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Solid purple. I'm not a floral person, and solids are easy to snazz up or dress down depending on the atmosphere you're going for.
christib327 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I really like the solid. It definately gives her more options than the floral does, in my opinion
jacky-O Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 Okay I am in my early 50's and I love the solid purple, but I am also very artsy... Jacky-O
jarerice Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I like the purple better. But I picked the white becuse I think it would match more stuff and not stick out.
