tori_deathangel
just move, if you dwell on it, ya might punch someone out for being rude (but thats like that everyday at my wm), but unforunatly alot of people here forget their manners on that day. focus on the item your getting let it be your mantra and that nice long nap you'll take when you get home
delphernina
I've been pretty fortunate. I don't know if I'm just lucky, or what, but almost everyone I've dealt with has been polite and fun to be around on bf. (well, excluding that time a couple years ago when someone tried to take me out for a cabbage patch doll lol) Holidays don't tend to stress me out much at all - in fact, I take great comfort in sitting in my nicely decorated home watching the kids shake presents under the tree.....smelling all the aroma's of the holidays. christib327
Man, I could really use some tips on this one. Last year about a month before Christmas was here I started getting really stressed. Bad enough that it ended up making me physically sick for almost the entire month of December. I don't know what the problem was really. I was done shopping and all of that, but it really got me last year. I'm hoping this year I can avoid that.
sm1kla
Shop early.
nick_jenni_jocelyn
I am usually so stressed come the holidays with my 2 kids bdays and christmas and travelling. I take many baths during this time, though my DH says he has a remedy and i'm sure i know what it is but i wont ask. LOL!
amyers12345
Stop worrying about it earlier and earlier each year. That just gives you more time to panic. I like to get labor day over with first, August is our most hectic month. 13 birthdays (both kids, me, brother, mom, 4 nieces and nephews, and several that ought to be), back to school, vacation, softball, football, rodeos, etc. I need some recoup time. I get a little burnt out on the gift giving for a few weeks.
abentley
I think the best stress reliver is preparing all year for what you can, and enjoying the season itself. Shopping to me is sport, but I love to wrap. So I save that for some fun. I have 4 kids, so they are all busy in December, and I can't imagine trying to squeeze all of my shopping in that month. Relax!!!!
berry1014
Depends on type of holiday stress you are referring too. The people in the stores while out shopping. Family? Decorating? My best advice is plan early, shop as much as possible early and organize as much as possible. Nothing worse then looking for something when you need it the most. I keep notebook strictly for Christmas. I plan the meals for our everyday dinner along with the holiday dinners/parties. A section for gifts all ready bought and gift ideas and for who. A section for different events we want to attend or do, even simple things like taking an evening and go looking at lights or doing an all night christmas movie fest. Good luck. Great Dane Mom
Don't buy so much. Choose one or two things and stick with it. Or, you could not buy any "things" and go on a vacation. Your kids will remember the vacation way longer than the "things" they got. Can you or they remember what was given say, three Christmas's ago? Betcha can remember a vacation you went on three years ago (if you were able to go on one).
shopping mom
I have to plan carefully both the money and the time, however I enjoy the planning so it helps me to know what I can afford and what I want (somewhere in the planning I make the two match) For example, I can really only do major brick and morter shopping on Saturdays, that means if I count BF I only have 18 days to shop for Christmas. I know I need to do some online shopping this year and those items I know may go on clearance before BF or those items that will never go on sale go ahead and purchase. I also have gotten to the point that I would rather do 1 nice gift that ten small gifts for my kids
lilac100
Ok my biggest stress tip is to hang out here and read everyone else's horror stories. I realize my day wasn't nearly as bad as all that.
mrn8
Visa gift cards for everyone. Let them fight the crowds, let them find the deals! OK, that probably won't be what happens, but I always consider it.

Fishboysmom
We used to go to visit both sides of the family, but now with 3 kids we stay home. Even though we all live nearby it was just too much dragging them out on Christmas Day. They want to be kids and enjoy their gifts and I want to enjoy them. Our families are welcome to come and see us at our house. That was a huge stress reliever. Also going to church and remembering what Christmas is really about helps a lot too.
JazzMama
Start shopping early and take time to enjoy it. My job's ending in mid-September, so I fully intend to savor every moment of my extended "vacation" all the way through!
love a deal
Don't try to do everything. Ask for help. If you have any kind of family get together ask EVERYONE to bring something. Let the kids decorate the cookies.
gr8girls
My mom always told me.."in a year your kids won't be able to tell you 1 gift they received last year, but they'll remember everything you did together". It is so true. I try to do fun things with them, and shop online....delivery to my mom's. I go shopping when I see something I want that's a real bargain and when I am in the mood. If it doesn't get done....Christmas still happens!
vonnyb
I have found that hanging around here and learning of all the deals helps alot. Also, if there are gift items that you want or need just buy them when you see them and hang on to your reciept so if they go on sale you can try to get some of your cash back. Also I try to be finished by the early December, have no desire to fight it out with the last minute warriors, unless there are some killer deals. nedsw33
Whenever you get stressed, just count down slowly from 10 to 1. Just like Carl Winslow did whenever he'd get angry at Steve Urkel in that one episode of Family Matters. haha
