gymgirl975 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 We were at Walmart around 2:30 looking around the store. My big hope was to score 2 IDogs. Well, we were looking around where the pallets were, and there was no big pallet of IDogs, but there was a big display in the middle of an aisle. They were the ones that are there every day. They were not in plastic and there were no instructions not to pick them up. So, I picked up two and put them in the back part of my basket, just for fun, and kept looking. So, about 30 minutes later, they remove the display of IDogs and take it to the back, I guess. There were at least 20 IDogs that had been on display. I'm starting to feel a little guilty, but I figure if anyone asked I would tell the truth. Anyway, when the Blitz IDogs, come out, they start announcing there was only 12. I went to get in line for them to insure I would get at least one at the 10.00 price, and I did, but I couldn't ask for 2 with there being only 12. The blitz Idogs were in a black box, and the other Idogs I got where in white boxes. Well, I put one of the white boxed ones up and go and check out. Sure enough, the white box Idog rang up 29.99. I pulled out the ad and showed the cashier and told her I got it from another shelf. She pricematched for me with no problem. Was that an okay thing to do? I felt kinda guilty since they pulled the other Idogs off the shelves, but a.) I think it's kinda rotten to have surplus stock that you won't sell for the advertised price, when there is such a limited number (12_ of a highly advertised item, and b.) I didn't dig in any kind of plastic pallet before time and I just got it right off hte shelf. It didn't say not to put them in your carts. Was I okay?
musiang Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 If an empolyee did thier job, they should have been pulled from the shelves. I know all the Vsmile were pulled off the shelves and other items that were on the sale, so in my eyes you did fine, just got lucky. Count your blessings and enjoy your purchase! :)
ShopperMom Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I wouldn't worry about it, good for you!
mom_of2boyz Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Look at it this way, that left one extra for someone else.
angelicswtnss Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 You did absolutely nothing wrong. If you ask me, the way they treat their customers is wrong. Enjoy your purchase!!
guilliam Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I was looking for the DVD "CLICK" that was in the ad for $9.72, but when they opened the box of dvds for $9.72, that movie wasn't in it, even though it showed it in the ad. The worker told me they must not have gotten any of that one. So, I went to electronics and picked one off the shelf and put in my cart, was going to show the clerk the ad if it wrung up $19.99 as marked on shelf where I got it, but no need, it wrang up $9.72 as it should have. But they didn't put any of the newer movies with the sale ones, even if advertised. I think hoping people would just think they didn't have any. That is just wrong!!!!
-msmama- Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 should of went to Target, they had click, pirates of carb, Treasure & about 5 others that rang up for 5.95 though sign said 8.98, on the shelves. I always price scan items before buying, but then at 9 am most stores had died down & I still got the couple things I wanted.
Mrs.Gumshoes Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I'm not seeing where you did anything wrong. They get to set all the rules, we don't have a say at all. So if you found a loophole, good for you!!
smiller713 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 The way I see it - your store lets you in before 5am - so they take chances like that. No biggie. Our stores close Thursday night and reopen at 5am; so there is no chance of that happening. I think the store should have had more than 12 items though - our store had a whole bunch of them. So it really depends on the store.
cotejb Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Nah..They shouldn't have had them out that soon before the blitz...
ratlenhum Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 I did the same thing!! With 5 of them!!! I don't feel bad one bit. The ad said nothing about black box or blitz item only. It simply said "assorted i-dogs" The girl rang the first one, it came up $27.72. I told her they were $10. She looked at the ad, changed the price, and I was on my merrry way.
Trish1298 Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Don't feel bad. Be excited you didn't have to spend $30 dollars on one of them!
J_Man Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 That's what I did. I asked one of the employees where the I-Dog was and they pointed out the shelf in the toy department. There were no pallets. Tons of other people had grabbed as I was until there were none on the she'f. They rung me up at full price and I pointed to the ad. They made the correction and I was on my way out the door. It's their fault if they handled it wrong. The ad didn't make any rules about what was and wasn't on sale. There was no pallet (it wasn't even on their map).
aerosmithgirl Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 Same thing happened at my WM. Not listed on the map, no one knew where they were. We found the regular ones high on a shelf no one could reach in the middle of the isle. Finally, about 4:45, they brought 2 small boxes of them out in a buggy. They had 36. This, IMO, was a big item considering they are normally $27 and it was a limit of 1 of course.
2knightsandaprincess Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 The $2.50 towels and the sheet sets were all on the shelves in there normal aisles, nothing in pallets. If you wanted them, you just went to the aisles and grabbed them. Eventually people figured out and they were gone by 7:00 am.

I went through that store twice looking for the sheets. I don't think you did a bad thing. They should have taken them off the salesfloor alot sooner.
davephillyj Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 YOU GO! You are not in the wrong!. Wal-mart does us wrong by saying they didn't get things in ( several ad items at my WM:mad: ) But, yet they have the ones that they pull off the shelf. That's what's wrong! They have no shame for some of the shananagans they pull, neither should we, when we get around them.
CrayZMama80 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 When I went there after going to all the other places we went...the sheet sets were still there. Our store had them on a pallet in the aisle. I didn't know these were part of the sale so I scanned them. I was happy to find out that they were only 39 for 600 tc. Man are they soft! Can't wait to climb into bed tonight with those! To the OP.. I think anyone there would of done the samething. Don't feel bad.
daworths8 Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Awwwww man I wish I would have thought of that Only thing we (me and MIL) werent able to get our hands on 2 idogs. They put them in a crazy spot tho back in the car service check out area, by time we figured it out they were gone and people had arm fulls of them Oh well not bad just missing out on this, got everything else on my list.
pjgurga Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 some of the items we got they were also on the sidecounter but we didn't know they were the same price until later in the day. the higher ups didn't let us know that some of the same was already in stock. that's communication!
willowlane Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 I didn't get to Walmart until around 10. All I was there for was a few of those 3 in 1 stick vacs, I got one red one from the bin and two blue ones from the shelf, all of them rang up at the 12.77 price. I never thought a thing about it.....

Was I okay?I did almost the exact same thing, only the one I picked up was in the exact same spot as they had always been in the toy dept. There were no other pallets arounds with them, and only about 10 of them out (in white boxes), so I just figured it was the $10 one and WM didn't want to mess with making it a special. I went about stalking out the other items I wanted. Later when I went back into the toy aisle, I was told the I-dog I had was not the sale one, the sale ones were gone, but when I went to check out, and it rang up at the higher price, I played dumb and said "Isn't this on sale for $10?" - the cashier looked in the flyer and saw the ad, and immediately gave me the $10 price. I never did see the ones in the black boxes - were they different in any way? Hope my dh likes it - birthday and Christmas in the same week stinks when you're fourteen!
Princessarky Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I think you did a good thing.......they shouldnt have pulled the items anyway my stores around here still have several of everything and they are still selling them for the sale prices
christib327 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 I don't think you did anything wrong either. If it's the same item, just in a different box, they should have ALL been $10! I think you did the SMART thing!!! :)
