  1. Yep, there wasn't much I saw at Best Buy or any other store actually. I did get a few items at Best buy online earlier today so I won't have to go wait in line there. I'm very thankful for that! My thoughts are to go out around 5am maybe to Wal-Mart then I'll hit a few other stores after that just to look around. Beyond that I might just people watch. I am very glad that most all items are online this year and seem to be in good quantity! That's a good think and might help next year's fun come back. Once all the Ebayers buy stuff and can't re-sell it, they'll think twice about waiting in line for 36 hours or more.
  2. The past year is the first year that people said forget Thanksgiving and camped out. The got there the night before Thanksgiving in tents. By noon Thanksgiving day there was over 50 people in line. By the time 5 am hit, I'd say there was probably over 3,000 people in line. The news media caused a frenzy last year with all their coverage. It was horrible. Even if anybody wanted anything, no person in their right mind would sit for 2 days to say $20 or so dollars. What was pushed last year by local media is how people are buying items and selling on Ebay for a large amount of cash. I hope people that tried it will now see that they didn't make a ton of money and will stay away this year. All of the people that got there that early each bought the front page items and any good deal in the ad. I think no store should have less than 20 of an advertised deal. If it's a high demand item, they shouldn't be allowed to advertise and only have 3 items. It sucks and if that was the only item you were there for, you wasted time that could have been used at the next store. That bait and switch crap doesn't work with most because most people leave if they don't get what they were there for. They don't buy something else like the store hopes for.
  3. Oh I won't be going anywhere. I've checked the site all year long. I'll be out Black Friday too even if there's nothing I want to buy (though there are a few items I'll probably go ahead and get).
  4. What I've noticed is that due to the number of people that have been getting out the past 3 years, stores seem to be holding back on the deals. Plus they're waiting until closer to Christmas for some of the deals. Around here, people jump a sale when items are first put on clearance. It used to be that people would at least wait for 60% off, but they're ready to fight the day 10% signs are put up. I don't know why people have gotten to be that way, but it's not fun!
  5. I used to have fun before it turned out to be such a horrible thing as it is now. If people wouldn't camp out or stores would have a strict rule that you can't hang out in front of their store so long, it might be better again. They should make it so that you can't line up any sooner than 2:00am. Those willing to stay for days on end make it so normal people don't want to get out. Because of that, I tend to try and buy what stores put up online. If they have the deals online that they do in store that morning, I'll buy everything I can. If their server doesn't give out, I come out of it with everything I want and just go out to the stores after they open for the fun of watching the people act like fools. "Oh no, Christmas is almost here and it's not like I had all year to think about it". Yeah I hope the few items I wouldn't mind getting will be able to be bought online.
  6. It's sort like they're saying they know there's not as good of deals as in the past and they don't want people to see it too far ahead of time to think about it. They should know by now that a lot of the people camping out for 1 or 2 days don't think anyway.
  7. My wife is in a wheelchair and we still brave the lines. They'll even try and trample her if they get the chance. I try and draw attention to line jumpers with the store manager (who's usually at the front door). That's also depending on when I get there. Now that people are willing to camp out for 2 days, I generally am too far back to even worry about line jumpers.
  8. I guess I can say I sacrifice sleep. I stay up all night so I can easily get out, plus I'm looking at online deals too. People have ruined the fun of the day for me now since it's so many that get out. Not just a few years ago it was lots of fun and you wouldn't see huge lines until closer to 5:00am. Now you have people willing to camp out for days just to say a dime. It's just crazy. Due to these type of people, the stores are responding by not having as good of deals as they used to.
  9. Yeah I'm thinking about picking a store that won't have as many people just to be out. Once all stores are fully open and the main crowd has gone in and wrecked the store, then I can show up and see what's left. If I miss anything, I won't worry since there's nothing really to miss. Still gotta wait and see what Wal-Mart is doing.
  10. Excite truck is good. Monster 4 x 4 is fun. Wario is fun. Wii Play is only worth it due to the extra controller. If it didn't have the extra controller or you didn't need one, I wouldn't get this game. Zelda is THE GAME to get. I like Super Swing Golf.
  11. Just thought I'd update this. They did allow me to return the single item at the local store. I didn't get the boots, but at least I didn't have to pay that crazy shipping charge for the only item they did send. They didn't really question it. But I thought a follow up was needed just to say they did give me my money back.
  12. Last week I had pulled up the Hot topic page seeing what they had on clearance. I'm an action figure collector so I hit all the pages that sell stuff I'm into regularly. Anyway, I found a pair of boots my wife liked that they had priced for just under $10. I saw some I liked that was priced right at $18. They had a figure I liked too so I threw that in just as an extra item. Well day before yesterday I got email saying that the boots I wanted were sold out and they were canceling that order. That made me mad, but I figure at least my wife will get her boots. Well today I get my order by UPS and all it had was the figure. This being a $5 item, they tacked on a $8 shipping plus tax. It's nearly $13 beyond the $5 for the figure and they canceled my wife's boots too. Needless to say, they're getting this back and I want a refund. What makes it worse is that both of these items I ordered remained up on their site over an hour after I finalized my order. My thoughts are that they didn't want to sell it for the price they had it listed because now these items are relisted but at a higher price. I just thought this was horrible business practice. I was near ready to report it to the Better Business Bureau. If they don't refund my money, I probably will. I just thought i'd post this as a heads up to anyone shopping their clearance section.
  13. That site never worked for me. I stood out in the cold 3 different times due to it saying Best Buy would have PS3s different dates before Christmas.
  14. Anybody needing HD cables for the Wii, I just picked up I just picked up one by Psyclone Essentials at Wal-Mart today. They're charging $1.72 for it. The official cable coming out I think is suppose to run about $30. Still no Wii systems either in any store I've been in, Even though i have one, I'm still looking. I did see Target with about 30 of them the middle of last week. They sold quick.
  15. Yep you can use any SD card. I got 2 1 gig ones from Best Buy during the Black Friday sale. Plus I got a Wii stand that came with a 512 just before Christmas. All of them work fine after I downloaded the system update. It will not work right out of the box. For now anyway. I'd assume eventually they'll ship with the newer system update.
