What do ya think?

Since looking at the ads, I'm thinking about going to Walmart and putting the dvds & cds that I want on BF into layaway. On BF I go back and price match them all.

Think it will work?

I wanna do the same thing...I'm wondering if anyone else has some thoughts...What other DVD's is WM offering? I'm curious to find out which ones will be on the 1.88 $ 2.88 list.

What timing!

I was about to ask the same thing... My biggest concern is that since there is no picking up or putting items on LAW (as heard in other posts), will they be open to PM?

Ohhhhhh... I haven't thought about that. I'm gonna call my Walmart now.

You mean we can't pick up items on Black Friday that were previously placed in Layaway?

I just called my Walmart and spoke to the mananager. He said they would be opened all day for pickup on BF. I would call your Walmart and ask just to be on the safe side.

I've made my list of dvds and cds. I'm going today to lay them away so I don't have to worry about them on BF.

I WILL call today! Thanks...Do you know the complete list? OR where I can find it?

I looked through the Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart and Kmart ads posted on here. You can click on the blue tab at the top of this page that says "Shopping List." You can add some dvds this way and then print out your list to take to Walmart with you today. I don't think it has all of the dvds listed though. You'll probably have to look at the ads like I did.

One store (cant remember which one) had some dvds 2 for $8 but I didn't notice anything that I just had to have.

Here's my list:

Best Buy

MI:3 - $7.99 (for a friend)

Memiors of A Geisha - $5.99 (for same friend..lol)

cds-

Keith Urban - Love, Pain and something something for $5.99

Now 23 - $5.99

Circuit City

Grey's Anatomy Season 1 - $8.99

The Office Season 1 - $8.99

My Name Is Earl Season 1 - $18.99

Rescue Me Season 1 - $14.99

All my dvds will be for hubby for Christmas. While in Iraq he bought several differant complete seasons of shows and he loves watching them this way now.

The cds are for my daughter for Christmas.

Add: I checked Walmart.com on the prices of the dvds and cds. They totaled $160.31.

The total, if I price match them will be $76.92. Only $57.95 of it will be mine.

won't work, tried it last year with game boy and a few other items. The BF items come in with different upc's and are packaged differently, the movies usually have cheaper cases. YOu can try anyway.

I think the movies would work. I pricematched 24 Season 5(I think it was 5) last year pretty easy.

I can understand why the gameboys wouldn't work with the upc's.

I tried to layaway my movie list but they only had MI:3 and Grey's Anatomy in stock. I'm going to the Walmart in the next town and try there. I didn't bother with them because I wanted to try and get them all together.

Some of the items scan at the BF price because it is a completely different item and or upc. I remember last year we were at WM and they had the Game-Boy Sp's on sale. They were gone within seconds. We found out they were only sent about 10 and it was a specific color. They lure you in with a deal and make sure they note in the ad "limited quantities available", but they never tell you the quantity. I am going to try shopping online as well as in the stores this year. I may not be able to fight the crowd in person but I can beat those with slower servers.:D

The BF movies will have the same UPC codes as the ones in-store now. They ring up at BF prices because the system is programmed to change prices at certain times. The same reason if you go buy a PS3 on the 17th, they'll tell you they "can't" ring it up until 12am, and they actually can't, the software will update at 12am, so in some cases it won't ring up until 12:02.

The UPC codes on items are printed AT THE MANUFACTURER. The store has nothing to do with it, they just get the bar codes from the Mfr. and put them in their system. Movie studios don't make different bar codes for the same movies....unless they are in a 2 pack, there may be a sticker on the plastic wrap.

If something is made for WM/BB etc. they will make a new upc, but the product will be changed in some way.

My WM sold 3 colors of SP's last year, red, silver and black, about 6 days before BF, all remaining SP's magically disappeared......

Just like BB this year, Westinghouse 22" LCD $199, I went today, they have at least 30 of every other lcd monitor, but all the 22" westinghouse's vanished......

Just to let you know Walmart is ending their layaway program. Last day to place item on layaway is 11/19, must be picked up by 12/8. This is company wide and is posted at all stores. Announcement was made about 6 weeks ago.

That would be great if only WalMart was not doing away with their layaway. My understanding this is chain wide. So you might want to check with the local WM
