Spotted1
I've never shopped at (or even heard of) REI but I had to roll my eyes a bit at the 'go outside' aspect of their announcement. Pompous.
drod58
I will "go outside" to do my Black Friday shopping in other stores.
tyreejames
I have purchased some North Face items from REI; its not a store that would even be on my radar for Black Friday so no big deal to me. And I will be outside on Black Friday, going from store to store
Brad
We've never posted a Black Friday ad from them, so it was never a big day for them. So this seems like more of a PR stunt than any meaningful gesture on their part.
emilyjp
I think they know their customer. Their customers would rather be out doing an outdoor activity than shopping anyway. My husband is one of them he hates shopping in general especially crowds when shopping. So it appeals to people like him.
bribri25
It's not the Black Friday openings that are crazy; it's the 4pm THANKSGIVING DAY openings that are just not called for. For them, it's just a half-***ed PR stunt that probably won't change anyone's opinion of them. Fine by me, though.
Kanyon71
They have stores here but to be honest have never been in one. Some of my friends swear by them but the couple of times I have looked at like hiking boots and stuff their prices were always higher than Dicks or Amazon. freesia39
Things to love about REI: 1. Fantastic return policy2. Rewards card with rebate on purchases each year They are an outdoors store so the opt outside makes sense.
