CG480 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I am not sure if this Question has been asked. If it has I am sorry for a double post. But when do you go to mass
mghtymth27 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Christmas Eve -- midnight (I guess you could call it Christmas day)
Great Dane Mom Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Christmas Eve. This year it will either be 4:00 or 6:00. Our church here does not have a midnight mass. We always come home and eat pizza, then I always bake a white cake with white frosting and the kids decorate it. We eat this on Christmas Day to celebrate Christ's birthday.
mitchandalisha Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I enjoy going to the Christmas Eve service at our church, but this year my family is having Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and since Christmas is on a Sunday this year I will just go to church on Sunday morning (Christmas day)
queenofshopping Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 my mom & i think it's so funny that they still call it midnight mass even tho most of them are at like 10 instead....dont go anymore but when we did we always went on christmas morning
toujours2u Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 We will be attending the Christmas Eve mass at 6 pm because my children are in the pageant. If I am still awake I may sneak out for the actual midnight mass. I need to attend as many services as I can because I am converting and I just can't seem to memorize the Nicene Creed!
krissy72 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I don't go to mass at all. I am not Catholic.
queenofshopping Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I need to attend as many services as I can because I am converting and I just can't seem to memorize the Nicene Creed!how does that one start again?
Illinoismom Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 how does that one start again?I go every Sunday, I don't know them by name but is that the one that starts we believe in one God
queenofshopping Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 oo the we believe in one god, the father, the almighty, creator of heaven & earth, of all that is seen & unseen...? im rusty, just wanted to test my memory
CG480 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
queenofshopping Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 ah that brings back some church-y memories...some of our wording was different tho, but they prob hadnt changed the one we said for like a hundred years...dont worry, once everyone is saying it together it'll just flow
joann Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Our church has services At 4 and 6 on Christmas eve and another at 10:30 on Christmas day. Unfortunatley we can't go to the ones on Christmas eve, so it'll be on the day. I really want to go, but it's going to be a challenge getting DD'S out of the house!
toujours2u Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I'm going to print that out and read it once a day and maybe by the time I can receive some of my sacraments in spring I'll have at least that memorized. My 6 yr old son taught me "Hail Mary." He goes to Catholic school so he learns the prayers and comes home and teaches them to me. It's hard to learn a new religion when your 35.
bayhaysay Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I'm not Catholic so we don't go to mass but Christmas does fall on a Sunday this year so we'll go to church on Christmas day this year.
Steakgoddess Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I do not attend a Catholic church, so I don;t attend Mass. We will be going to our church's Christmas Eve Service at 7 p.m.
elena_398 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 I either go to the childrens mass at 4pm or the evening one at 7pm. I would like to experience the midnight mass, but the kids wouldn't make it. One year I always tell my husband I will go myself. I heard it is absolutely beautiful
Gporter34 Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 I'm not Catholic but I have always loved going to midnight mass. When I was in high school, my best friend was Catholic and I always went with her.
