  1. I didn't even bother looking at the ads this year because the majority of sales were on Thanksgiving. Black Friday has been a tradition for me for 18 yrs. this just killed it. People can blame stores all they want but if people didn't show up then they wouldn't be open. I would rather spend time with my family, but that's what I feel is best for me. People have to do what's best for them.
  2. a shirt next year -- so worth staying up for
  3. I have 5 birthdays coming up in the next two months. I can't think about next Christmas yet. Jan: 5 (dad), 8 (mom), 13 (DS) and 18 (partner) then Feb: 8 (DD)
  4. Had a problem with grades slipping with my DD12. What I did, when I'd finally had enough of it, was take everything away from her. The TV, PSP, IPod, etc etc etc ....... anything and everything in her room that may be even a little bit of fun and everything got put in the garage. No computer (unless it's for school and we have one of those programs that records everything typed and takes pics of websites visited so we know), no TV (anywhere in the house), no games, no anything period until her next progress reports came out (about one month). Her grades needed to come up to all B's period. Ok she used to be a straight A student and has been getting an attitude like you wouldn't believe. She had a D in science at the first progress report and in the second it was up to a C but she was stilling getting a ton of F's because she didn't bother to do her homework. So I don't think B's are out of the question. she got her progress report last Friday and all her grades were back up to B's. Next come report cards and I told her if she doesn't have at least B's in all her classes then her stuff would be gone for 6 months. She just kind of did a little gasp and wide eyed look. I told her I know she can do it and she's much smarter then what she is acting. So far that's worked and she's happy to have her stuff back. I would give the Christmas presents but I would also take them away until grades came up. I know that seems a little harsh but it sure worked for my daughter.
  5. I will go with your suggestion. I know she loves SIMS. Thank you!!!!!!
  6. My DD12 wants the dream life game so the price rocks. Problem is I have to be at a swim meet early and will be there all day. So I will more then likely miss out.
  7. I have finally have to jump in. If someone walked up to me and offered $100-$200 for a piece of paper, I would sell it. I wouldn't go out of my way to get extra tickets to sell but I would not turn down that offer. I actually just missed (by one person) selling the right to buy a Wii for $640 last year to a person that was toward the back of the line. If I was one of the 6 people that was able to get one, I would've sold it in a heartbeat. None of the people in front of me took the man up on his offer. He had cash in hand. I know my kids wouldn't have minded if I came home with $640 istead of the Wii, actually they would've thought I was nuts if I didn't do the deal.
  8. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16855604004&Tpk=brown%2bzune I checked newegg and they are still showing it in stock if anyone is still looking. $99.99 (updated price when I started through checkout) with $4.99 shipping
  9. That's how it was last year as well. My Wal-Mart had BF prices on BF items all the way up to Christmas.
  10. convert the garage into a gaming room .................
  11. Heat went out (in the house), car needed to be repaired and truck needed new tires (thanks to a jerk running us off the road and us landing in a rocky ditch). I'd like to say I'm going to spend less this year but that's probably not going to happen.
  12. Either I need better glasses or I've been staring at ads to long. I thought you wrote you were interested in the funeral friend pot I had to read it three times and sound out each word.
  13. Dear Santa, I once had a geek’s daydream. It was scary at first, but then I thought wow what a great idea. So here’s my daydream I had. Wow I hate writing notes then going home and just having to type them all over again. Why can’t someone just invent a pen that can save your notes, rough drafts, or any writing material you have to the computer? Well it could save images too, 300 dpi images to be exact. When I was young I could never understand why my mom wouldn’t let me take my Dell Inspiron notebook with windows XP and a 17 inch screen to school. Anyway the pen would be capable with Microsoft Word 2000, XP, or 2003 along with Microsoft OneNote 2003, Vision Objects MyScript Notes, Microsoft Express 5.0 or 6.0, Microsoft Outlook 2000, XP, & 2003, Microsoft Hotmail, Lotus Notes 6 or later, Eudora 5.0 or later, Netscape Mail 6.2 or later, and AOL 8.0 or later. What a great invention that would be. Then one day wouldn’t ya figure when I was cruising the web and I went to geeks.com and found my perfect invention!!! Since the first time I laid eyes on the Logitech io2 Digital Writing system I knew it was the most extraordinary gift ever. Since I have a lot of notes, reports, and just creative ideas I write down, (for school) but ultimately end up losing them. That is why this gift is perfect for me. Don’t forget about the pocket protector, suspenders, thick rimmed black glasses , all of the superman comics in mint condition, loafers, starch white socks, and new racecar sheets for my bed in my mom’s basement. Love, Mghtymth’s daughter &

  15. It was a few years ago at Walmart. They had a 1gb MP3 player for $99 but the store only had three of them. I got the last one. A lady was way back in line, maybe 40th person and she had wanted one for her daughter. I stopped to tell her that they didn't have anymore (just trying to be nice so she didn't waste her time because she made it known that was the only thing she had wanted). Well she goes ballistic and I hurry out of that area. I went over by my girlfriend that was inline for a digital camera. As I'm telling her about the crazy lady wanting the MP3, she gets out of line and grabs somebody's arm. I turn and look and it was the crazy lady trying to reach in the cart to grab the MP3 player. She held on while an onlooker went to get an employee and the lady was removed from the store. In the mean time, the line for the digital camera started moving and the gentleman that was behind my friend picked up the camera that she had wanted and brought it over to her.
  16. I was at Kmart over the weekend and had the same thing happen to me. I have to say I was surprised. I also noticed that the store was very clean and had been reorganized. They didn't have as much a selection as some others but I was impressed compared to my last visit (almost a year ago).
  17. It's not to hard to come up with another webpage. I'm sure someone will do it once the ads are "leaked" and since they weren't around to get the letter, they didn't know any better so Wal-Mart will have to send a stop letter but by then it will be to late.
  18. Nerdie or not, I did the same thing. I also sent emails to Walmart as well.
  19. My daughter is starting diving and life guard lessons this week, I'm going to have to go check this out. Thanks!
  20. Hmmm -- I'm wondering what I missed this weekend.
