Getting items for stockings is one of my favorite parts of Christmas shopping. I have never done a theme before but was thinking this year of doing a bathroom theme of body washes, purfumes, chapsticks, deoderant etc. For my ds10 and dd5. Do you think this would be something they would enjoy or not? What do you guys stuff your stockings with?

My daughter is 17 and she is constantly needing ponytail holders, so I always put a bunch of those in her stocking. I can usually catch a pretty good deal on them at the CVS/Walgreens/RiteAid on Black Friday. Also Bobby Pins for her hair.

If there ears are pierced, you can put several pair of earrings.

I always put new toothbrushes, make-up, hair-care products, lip balm, dvd's, gift cards and whatever little sentimental  items I might find for my daughter(19). My son is 5 so he's alot easier... Hot wheels, dvd's,toothbrush, crayons, colorbooks, lipbalm, and whatever else I might run across thru the year.

Ive started putting Axe body wash and American eagle body spray in my DS stocking. He's 11 and started wanting the "smell good" stuff about 2 years ago. I also buy money soap for both my DH and DS stockings and they love it. My 6 yr old DS doesn't care for all that stuff just yet

My kids (the grown ones) don't think its a stocking unless it has a toothbrush in it!! I thought about not doing stockings for my older ones a few years ago but they did not like that idea at all. This year I have quite a lot on clearance for the girls but not the guys.

I have the standard toiletry stuff also and something "good". usually toothbrush, deodorant, axe spray, plus a goodie like an Xbox points card or iTunes card. I have 4 sons that range in ages from 17 to 8. They actually enjoy the bathroom stuff. I try to buy a gift set (like axe or something popular) and take it apart & put it all in. They love it!

In our house your stocking gets a new toothbrush and I usually find odd and ends from clearance racks and small toys and candy but everyone's stocking gets $5 worth scratch off lottery tickets.  Everyone looks forward to that more than anything else.  From the in-laws on down.  It is the one thing that everyone opens together hoping someone gets rich LOL

Walgreens usually has a few items "free after voucher or rebate" on Black Friday that make good stocking stuffers for someone (child or adult or either depending on the item).

Also watch Rite Aid, CVS, and other pharmacies for a smaller number of similar offers on small items every week.

my kids (DD20 & DS18) always get toothbrushes,  our stocking stuffers still include things like hot wheels, a christmas ornament for their future family tree (they have gotten one from their grands and me every year since they where born - I try to get something they like that year, ie we have winnie the pooh, Rudolph, Pokemon, Jack Skeleton, cars, etc ), .xbox live,, gas cards, dvd, itunes, cd, nail polish, colagne / perfume , body spray, hair brush/comb/ pony tail holders, rubber bands , duck tape and whatever other odds/ends that will fit

Somewhere in the archives there is a huge list of stuffer ideas... I remember looking at it multiple times but can't remember where it is.  A ton of good ideas if you can find it... for now I'd say gift cards, tickets to a movie or show, jewelry, cold hard cash...  Socks and undies can take up a lot of space if you need filler.

I have a 17 DD and a 13 DS this year.

DD-chapsticks-she loves Baby Lips and eos (those little balls?)

single eye shadows (usually get those cheap with coupons)

ponytail holders

small face sunscreen (she is a redhead & lacrosse season begins in Feb and you wouldn't believe how easy she gets burned on cold days!!)

gum

Froyo gift cards

DS-cologne/AXE type

football cards

those long baseketball socks

gum

PS gift card

usually a small RC car of some sort

I usually don't spend a bunch on stockings, but try to fill them up!! I use my coupons and try to sale match during the weeks leading up to Christmas for freebies!!

I always find it amusing how everyone is so into stockings on here. I don't know if it's because we live in Miami and have nowhere to hang the stocking (other than gingerly on the wall hooks) or if my family JUST never really bothered with them but stockings are mostly for decoration in our house. sometimes an occasional russell stover chocolate or piece of jewelry finds itself in one and then we get prompted to "LOOK in the stocking".

STockings are HUGE here and I hang mine on nails in the doorway. Our kids can get their stocking anytime they want, but have to wait until about 5 to wake us up. Usually minutes after I fill it, they are picked up. I could never put toothbrushes in one. It just amazes me how many do. In our house when I was young, it was an apple , orange and some nuts, then little toys. I put a dvd in my kids, wallet, chapstick sometimes, anything I can find that is little and they are literally bulging . Always put a candy cane in the top,. 3 or 4 boxes of candy. My youngest likes crabby patties, he always gets them.

Stockings are a big thing in our house too! One year, I gave DH a new smartphone. I had the carrier switch service over in the middle of the night. The next morning you could hear it ringing from the box in the stocking. It took him forever to figure it out. :sidesplit DD(16) received her first expensive jewelry this way a few years ago. I try and stuff the toe with something unexpected and special. Then it gets filled to the brim with Tarte Make up for her, they have waterproof eyeliner and she is a varsity swimmer... And he gets RC vehicles. They both get gift cards for iTunes and XBox. Last year I found some great deals on Transformers for DH. He still likes getting small toys, especially when they remind him of his childhood..... This year is gonna be really though. I need some inspiration!

I have a niece who is a swimmer also, can you let me know what the best Tarte eyeliner (waterproof) is? I looked online and saw many different options (pencil, brush with a little container of the eyeliner?) Thanks !!!

My 8 year old daughter is getting a yo-yo, a book about yo-yo tricks, a Sigg water bottle, Chapstick, nail polish, a pomegranate (because fruit is traditional!), and a few silver dimes for her war chest. She always gets a tube of lip balm, fruit, and silver every year but everything else changes.

I usually go to the after Christmas sales and pick up fun little toys/gadgets at half price then add to them throughout the year.  Of course I finish with candy

Posted

My kids' stockings are usually full of nothing but candy.  Half the time I buy more than will fit. There's always a box of Nerds, a box of Gobstoppers, a Hershey's Kisses candy cane, a box of Starburst, and then whatever other individual serving candies I find.  I think that started because my oldest doesn't like chocolate (except Hershey's Kisses - go figure), so I went out of my way to load up on stuff he would like since I couldn't do the big chocolate Santa Claus. I swear, some of it never even gets eaten.  Every once in a while I will put a gift in the stockings, usually if they get a gift card or something, but mostly it's just the candy.

Reading about all these people that put toothbrushes in the stockings makes me feel a little guilty. LOL

Stockings are usually the most exciting thing at Christmas and I'm feeling guilty.  Just not into the spirit yet.  Jeff has been in and of the hospital twice and a month in a nursing facility and once again I'm tapped out, emotionally and financially.... We do stockings and the bigger gifts don't come until my EIP (which is like a bonus) in March...  Trying to build up enthusiasm but it's really been hard.  Maybe the cold snap tonight will shock my system...

So far, she likes the pencil best. This goes on quick and smooth, not much hassel. It is a little expensive... Last year I was able to get a five pack, hoping it comes out again!

Hope you get into the spirit before it's too late :gdhug5: .I'm sure it would be a great disappointment to all if avoided and may greatly improve health/outlook if done.

HOping I'll get into the Christmas spirit also.  This is not like me.  IT's my favorite time of year and even the boys are worn down this year.  Maybe after payday next week and Wasabicon with the boys....Shouldn't even be doing that but my pass is comped as the Steampunk group is doing panels and I'm presenting one of those...
