CircuitCity snatched my deal!!

I and another person were lucky enough to find sandisk memory stick pro duo 512 mb, priced at $19.99. We both picked them up right where they seemed to be dropped under where they are supposed to be hung.

A smile to each other and we parted ways.. and 2 hours of shopping/ research later, the sandisk I bought refused to ring at the cash register. An advisor was told to take me to customer service and tell them to ADD the sandisk to stock; apparently their stock showed zero, so he cldnt see what he dint have.

A Sales manager shows up at the customer service, asks for the problem description, assigns me to another advisor to look for another piece of the sandisk, as apparently the one I had was intended for pick-up. And assuring me that he'll try to match the price as much as possible, he sent me off, keeping the sandisk with him.

Does this make sense? I mean, I was at the store, I picked a legit piece.. and its not that I gave the sandisk away to him, it was passed from the guy at the cash register to the advisor to this sales manager.. you have to give the product to the store people to scan and make a bill!!!

It gets more amazing.. he was nowhere to be found when I got back!! And the 1-800 Circuit City customer service listened in... very empathetic, but of no avail!

There are four store employees who know I had the damn thing, if that was ever to be doubted.. but still nothing can be done, right? The store director refuses to even listen! Apparently, someone forgot to pull off a piece from the floor when there was a web/ telephone order for the piece, so they snatched mine. Feel so cheated!!!!

I'd write 'em or call again (when it's not so crazy). That's odd!!

Did you see this? forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=22081

Yup, thanks- tho' I can use only the pro duo cos of my PDA and the 3.1 cybershot I have. The cybershot isnt compatible with the newer/ larger capacity memory stick pro, and anyway I intend to upgrade next year.. so $19.99 seemed a perfect amount to invest in some much-needed memory for a camera that would not be that much-needed in a year!

But what you say about calling again.. you're right but I'm not sure I'm eager to be recognized as "oh, its the person I duped the other day".. :insane:

I doubt it would matter, but you could try to call that 800 CC number again and politely explain that you are still very upset. Explain that nobody has addressed your complaint and that the more you thought about it overnight, it seems that the manager may have done something improper. Explain that he and the other people in store refuse to talk to you and this matter needs to be addressed. You can also point out that you have little doubt that the store video tapes will confirm your story and if the csr can't help you, demand to speak with a supervisor or manager.

To alimfp, the manager too was part of the scam, remember? When I pressed for an answer he shouted that I was stopping him from carrying out his business.. I asked for his complete name (for complaint purposes) he said he din't have a visiting card. Now what kind of store director is that?!

The video-tape is a good idea.. but I am torn between feeling cheated and feeling like haggling n making a big deal out of $20! I mean, I wonder if I should let it go AFTER all this trouble, or if I should chase it ESPECIALLY bcos of all this trouble!

I have never called the 800 CC number, but I did manage to get another corporate number for CC today. 804-527-4000. Not sure if this will do you any better, but good luck.

I think I will go to CC again tomorrow, lets see what happens. The corp 1800 number I'll try too.. I think more than the $19.99 I am more eager to find out how this ends! :2bat:

Thanks van929 and pcsoon for the infos.. am going to call the corp number and then look up the dell deal as well.

And whatever happens, I'll certainly post here and let you know. You guys have been very helpful :)
