msomnipotent Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 http://money.cnn.com/2005/11/16/news/fortune500/blackfriday_gimmicks/index.htm I have been reading on several sites that stores are really worried about bringing in the shoppers this season, so they are going all out to lure them in. Expect better deals all throughout the shopping season.
sperdue Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 This is really cool!! I do remember last year, my walmart had breakfast bars and sodas. It was very nice to be thought of that early in the am!! :)
bassmount Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 It is actually just "Sam's Club" that will have the free breakfast trolley, if I understand this correctly. Sam's Club, a division of Wal-Mart (Research), will open stores at 5 a.m. the day after Thanksgiving and roll out a free breakfast trolley to its members. Interesting way to get people in though. Wonder if BB will have one too. LOL
ebony0421 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Hungry customers can be cranky customers. It just makes sense for them to do something, be it coffee and donuts or fruit.
Steakgoddess Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Eating breakfast normally makes me sick. I can;t imagine eating it on a hyped up day like BF.
stationchief Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Eating breakfast normally makes me sick. I can;t imagine eating it on a hyped up day like BF.I agree. I have a stomach disorder and eating breakfast that early after I get up is a big no-no for me. My tummy will be all tied up in knots alread with all the anticipation and excitement. It sounded like some of those places wold be offering trips and such. Are those gonna be something like lottery prizes for everyone to try for or door prizes to like the first in line?
sanam Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 one more idea , you all can hit the malls later in the day to have some breakfast and shop as welll
saturnboy01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 It would be cool if BB did something like that.
eve Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 so will sams have good deals on BF :D might be worth it
imjustagirl Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Ahh. I hope SAMs has some killer deals :) Last year our Walmart had coffee. There was a table set up about 1/2 way through the line and they had coffee to pass out. First time I've ever seen that so I was pretty suprised!
Aaron Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I've never been to SAMs on BF. I might have to check it out.

They had employees going throughout the store passing it out. I was in the longest line (layaway) when they came around. Made me much happier about waiting. :)

I was actually looking for a thread on this so I'm glad you mentioned it :) I've never done the layaway thing at Walmart, how does that work and how does it work with BF. You say the line was huge That sure doesn't seem fun, but I guess since you know that you are getting what you want it is worth it???
saturnboy01 Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I hope so after being out there ALL nite....
happytreefriends Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 bestbuy offers generic cofee for free, but they put it in pots labled starbucks, with starbucks cups
Mugglemom Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 A couple of years ago, TRU passed out poptarts, and one year they had big trays of Christmas cookies. But last year, they hired Starbucks to come and SELL coffee and muffins. As cheap as I am, you know I didn't buy any. Now I know to bring my own!
blakes_mommy Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I remember being a kid and going with my mom to Kmart they would give out coffee in line. I would think standing in the cold and drinking it that it would make you have to pee!!
Guest all2tired Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Ok so first stop is Sam's to get breakfast and then eat it while driving over to stand in walmart's line LOL Works for me LOL
happyrat Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Heck if I was Starbucks I'd give it away free. Great advertising free of charge. So it cost $100 in coffee, but they would gain some very happy customers I'm sure. What better way to advertise that 400 people walking around town with a Starbuck's cup in hand?

donny2001 Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 The Best Buy here offered free coffee and hot chocolate (Watered down mix) and sugar cookies to everyone in line. I think the employee who was handing it out sure did make alot in tips in the process. I couldnt complain a free snack for standing inline for 2hrs. Great Stuff! DON
venerdinero Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 I seem to recall Micro Center giving out doughnuts one year. :2wiggle:
Christypl Posted November 17, 2005 Posted November 17, 2005 Thats a good idea. Last year ours had coffee and doughnuts.
sperdue Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Just got email confirmation -- Sam's Club will have complimentary continental breakfast 5am - 9.30am.
saturnboy01 Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Our local WM is BYOB..."Bring your own breakfast"!
sperdue Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Also for those of you like me that don't have a sam's card, here's a free pass. It's valid for bf. Not valid for CA, SC, or Elmsford, NY http://www.samsclub.com/eclub/main_std_template.jsp?CntId=blitz-splash-05&pid=_11-22-05_merch_blitzban&
decafmom Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 Best Buy has had coffee and doughnuts the last few years. Thankfully my Starbucks is open 24/7 now, so I'll grab my own on my way to get in line.
