Best Buy Backorders

As I perused the GottaDeal website over the past 48 hours, I've noticed many people stating their Best Buy orders went from a status of processing to backordered. Well, add me too the list as well. I ordered a laptop and External Hard Drive at 7:00 am CST on the 24th. I placed a second order about 5 minutes later of two dvds.

 

Four and 1/2 hours later received an email that the DVDs were back-ordered. No big deal as they were $.99 DVDs with free shipping. However, I received a second email 29 hours after I initially ordered the laptop letting me know my it was back-ordered too. FAIL! By this time, all the other National Retailers had already sold out of their "Door Busters" and I had no other choice but to await my backordered laptop. However, my biggest complaint is that the laptop I ordered was still showing as "in stock" on the BB site for at least 12 hours after I placed my order. To me, it seems a bad practice to sell items as "in stock" later to tell customers the item is backordered.

 

So, out of the 4 items, I purchased on the BB website, 3 of them are backordered. This makes me wonder if BB strategically left items up on their site, oversold their products, and only let their customer's know about the lack of inventory AFTER the other National Retailers had already sold their door-busters. This way, BB could assure customers had "no where else to go" and would not cancel their orders with BB.

 

I used to be a huge fan of Best Buy and spend $1000's there a year, but my faith in them has been waning after about 4 or 5 bad experiences.

 

I'm just interested, were your items back-ordered as well?

I ordered my blurays and printer online due to questionable instore stock. The printer and 2 out of my 5 blurays shipped. I found all 5 blurays and hide them in store. Found out that 3 of my blurays got back - ordered. Went back just now to Best Buy and my stash was still there, and purchased the 3 that got back ordered. But I defiantly experienced the loading issues on Best Buy's website. Always a gamble.

I'm worried now. Do they send you an email advising it's back ordered or update the information on your orders? All of my stuff has shipped minus the av receiver which is the only thing I needed but it says "in process" and usually ships within 0-1 days. Should I be worried?

Even if it is backordered. I've always gotten my product from them. I think they have all the stores send back their unsold inventory from the sale and it takes a few days for it to reach the warehouses. They'll send you an email that its backordered and update the information. But unless you know that your local store has it, better off just waiting for it. And If they happen to send you the wrong item, Try having them contact the local store and arranging for an in-store pickup. Because the warehouse may be out, but if your local store has it, you can exchange it. Just have your credit card, ID, and proof of purchase, and package slip.

I ordered the 299 laptop at 9:30 am on the 24th and received it yesterday. I also order 3 of the iTunes gift cards, 2 shipped. The third states in process. It won't let me cancel it. I have sent an email request on the status after I spent an hour on hold yesterday. I just tried to call again and the automated response was to check their site. :mad:

I ordered Ben-Hur 50th Anniversary Edition and it was back ordered. However, I just received an email that the price was incorrect, and they cancelled the order.

I got cancelled too (#3(or is it 4) for the season). Hoping my $179 laptop doesn't get cancelled.

Has everyone received their backordered Levono laptop? I haven't received mine yet and I'm getting a little worried. Hopefully it comes by Christmas. My mom really needs a computer. She has an ancient desktop and can't do hardly anything on it!

Mine is still on backorder too :(.

My cousin ordered a laptop almost a month ago. She kept seeing processing under her order status. I told her to call them and then she finally did last week. They told her that the laptop was on backorder and they wouldn't be getting anymore in until after Christmas. It was a Christmas present for someone. They ended up giving her another laptop a step up from the one she ordered, 30 off of that, and 30 towards a laptop bag. She got her laptop two days later.

I still have 1 item on backorder. I checked it and its available for in an store pickup. I called them to check the backorder and they can't tell me. It's a friggin DVD .. how can you ship it to the store but not to me? I got the email with 20 minutes that it was available for me to pick it up in store. ugh .. I was just there yesterday and it's like 15 minute drive for me.
