  1. As I perused the GottaDeal website over the past 48 hours, I've noticed many people stating their Best Buy orders went from a status of processing to backordered. Well, add me too the list as well. I ordered a laptop and External Hard Drive at 7:00 am CST on the 24th. I placed a second order about 5 minutes later of two dvds. Four and 1/2 hours later received an email that the DVDs were back-ordered. No big deal as they were $.99 DVDs with free shipping. However, I received a second email 29 hours after I initially ordered the laptop letting me know my it was back-ordered too. FAIL! By this time, all the other National Retailers had already sold out of their "Door Busters" and I had no other choice but to await my backordered laptop. However, my biggest complaint is that the laptop I ordered was still showing as "in stock" on the BB site for at least 12 hours after I placed my order. To me, it seems a bad practice to sell items as "in stock" later to tell customers the item is backordered. So, out of the 4 items, I purchased on the BB website, 3 of them are backordered. This makes me wonder if BB strategically left items up on their site, oversold their products, and only let their customer's know about the lack of inventory AFTER the other National Retailers had already sold their door-busters. This way, BB could assure customers had "no where else to go" and would not cancel their orders with BB. I used to be a huge fan of Best Buy and spend $1000's there a year, but my faith in them has been waning after about 4 or 5 bad experiences. I'm just interested, were your items back-ordered as well?
  2. What good would it do for you to claim you'll store it in your garage. Did you think the associate was going to say "ok, well, then you can return it. I really don't want you to return the laptop after storing it in your 'hot and humid' garage". I think it's hilarious that the associate called you out on it.
  3. Get the $400 Sony. The $229 model is great, but it is sooo sooo underpowered and equipped it would be the equivilant of buying a NEW 1983 Ford Escort. Ultimately it's up to you but the specs on that $229 laptop are like 4 years old. Yes, it's a great price, but I don't really think it's a great investment.
  4. Buy the 2GB of PC 5300 Ram with this machine http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&id=pcat17071&type=page&st=8221541&sc=Global&cp=1&nrp=15&sp=&qp=&list=n&iht=y&usc=All+Categories&ks=960 Only $55. Save $135!
  5. Sears Magellan Maestro 3100 available at sears.com now at $129.99. That's $20 lower than their BF price. (Check reviews before purchasing though.)
  6. YMMV and you probably will see little/no success. Look at it from the CC managers POV. If someone came up to you and asked for your John Hancock on a slip of paper would you do it not knowing the ramifications that could later return and bite you in the A55? At this time of the year, Corporate notifies the stores of their Price Matching policies as no one is in business to lose money. Many times these larger retail chains will negotiate a better price with manufacturers to move older inventory. Now if BB negotiates to get your 46" Aquos at a cheaper price than CC, why would CC want to match it. Companies DO want to make sure they offer you the best prices, but they are not in business to lose their shirts. Your best bet is to buy it from BB and not waste your time with CC.
  7. I would second that request. Might also include # of POIs (points of interest) and Bluetooth compatibility. I know that would be asking a ton though.
  8. Unless you are a Videophile, you don't really need to go 1080P. 720P is fine for 98% of American's. The only time you will notice a difference is when you're watching something in Full HD. Yes you can see the difference between 1080 and 720 when they are side by side, but when you'll probably be just as happy with 720. Unless the price difference is <$100, go for the 720P. On a side note, I am planning on going 1080P. BUT... that's just so I can say I've upgraded to 1080P. I currently have a 50" 720P and LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

    Your Spending

The economy isn't going to affect my spending but the deals thus far may. However I still have my fingers crossed that some big ticket items may be revealed at the last minute (ie online). I'm not saying all the deals are bad, they are just bad for me.
  11. Ho Hum. Nothing jumps out at me. Where are my TVs and Laptops? I haven't been impressed yet.
  12. 20% off coupon could make some of these deals worth while. ie. The Garmin Nuvi 200w is shown at $349. That's not BF worthy, you can buy it for that now at Target. But at 20% off, the deal is a little more attractive. Still, this deal should not hold up compared to BB, CC, or even Sears for that matter.
  13. Technically a sale price is an offer. They are offering to sell you the item at a specified amount. However, I don't think you'll have any trouble getting the discount even if you have to get it from the warehouse.
  14. depending on what you want you might be ok going at 3 or 4
  15. Pretty sure this code applies to regularly priced tv's $1799 and above. So it probably wouldn't work for discounted or sale tv's.
  16. No love here in KC I guess. Congrats to the rest of you.
  17. Do you have it on your BF Copy? Here in KC (64056) we only have it on the 4 day 11-19 ad.
  18. Awww. It's just a little friendly banter. No harm meant! :)
  19. Thanks xslicricx. That should make it much easier than 100's of pm's.
  20. You can take a look at the ad you know. But since you're a newb, I'll help you out. As far as anyone knows, there is only special financing on cameras (15 months). Welcome to the community.

    50" PlasmaSamsung

I'd prefer the Panasonic at CC for $1999.
  22. What are you gonna do? Hang them both on the same wall? I for example have a 52" projection and I want a plasma so that I can hang it on the wall. However, I'm not gonna go from a 52 down do a 42". Although the 42" is a tasty price, you have to go for what you want, not just the best deal.
  23. Awww Rossman...you can't go from a 50" to a 42". You get 40% more viewing area with a 50"!
