I really hate rebates! I am a cash buyer for Holiday shopping and I don't want that extra money out of my pocket while I wait for a rebate that won't come until after Christmas. I like the store cash at Kohls but not at some of these stores who say..."This price after bucks or store cash." I want to pay the sale price NOW and move on to my next store. Sorry had to rant about this. It's been bothering me for years! Anyone Agree? or Disagree?

I totally agree with you. Sometimes I pass on some items only because they have rebates.

I use strictly plastic for everything and have no problems with rebates other than them being a pain. We've never forgotten to send one in and ALWAYS keep copies(scans) of everything submitted in case we don't hear back.

I can see how it would be a bigger pain if you ONLY use cash and/or are one of those people the companies love who forget to submit them or follow directions.

I DO dislike some newspapers, Walgreens and a local pharmacy come to mind, that give you item price after coupons. It's nice of them to point out that a coupon IS available but their reduced price is rarely worth using the coupon:P

WORSE than rebates to me is how EVERY store seems to be itemizing $off coupons so that if you return something you get screwed. I've always noticed at Macy's but BB did it to me this week on a rewards zone thing too. I was not amused.

I actually like rebates. They aren't hard to do if you follow directions, I have never had any troubles getting my money back with them.

The rule that my SiL and I hold to is that we have to send off the rebates on the day we shop. She is great at it and will keep me honest about getting it done. Otherwise, I would forget them and kick myself later.

I don't think the rebates are hard to fill out and I have done them in the past.

I just don't like fronting money. And btw even on plastic your paying interest on that extra money.

Wait what do you mean? You don't get back what you paid if you have to return something? I would be livid!

That can make sense if your $30 purchase got you to another tier to earn an extra $10 off your purchase, and returning drops you below then you should only get $20 back because you have to return your reward too.

Sort of, You lose a portion of the coupon. Macy's receipt shows the $20 off coupon divided amongst all items so say you bought 10 things they'd each had a $2 discount. So say an item was on sale for $10, they show a $2 discount with it and they'd return you $8 for item. So you only really got $18 off total for using coupon once return taken into account. For BB my rewards was $5 but I bought 4 things and had to return 3 since the ppl they were for had already bought so I only got to use 1.25 of my rewards certificate and lost the rest of it.

Lesson learned, use certificates for myself and avoid the issue in future.

Like I have always said and will continue to say......I don't see how it takes a company to take 12 plus weeks to process a rebate when it doesn't take but 30 seconds (or less) for them to pull the entire purchase price, which includes the rebate amount, off of my credit card? I don't shop for items that have rebates and refuse to purchase anything that has rebates. I don't agree with the turn-around process in getting your money back, it's ridicoulous (sp). I won't do it.

I hate them too.

My hate leans towards not getting the rebates.

Once at lowes bought a stove that stove qualified for rebate it printed out form and everything, sent it in and got a letter back that it didnt qualify.

Staples is about the same, nothing I ever bought with rebate ever got me a check after.

I really take the time to make sure I am doing them right. Send in the right stuff. Its a 90/10 chance for me.

I did however get a rebate off some toilet paper years ago. Saved upc's off so many and sent them in and got a check.

I rarely do rebates anymore. It's just such a pita to hope the rebate shows up.

Actually the only ones we've done for some time now are for Menard's. We've done hundres of rebates through them and I've never once had a problem. We've done a lot of work on our house or purchased other items there.

I was really excited about the Kohls ad having programable crock pots for $9.99, until I read the fine print that says "AFTER $10.00 MAIL IN REBATE". Burst my happy bubble right then and there.

I don't do rebates either. All I have ever gotten was cheated.

That seems to be the common thread here it seems, sucks for you guys :( I have always gotten my rebates, once had a scare with staples sending a postcard saying it was denied but apparently it was a glitch in the system.

I don't particularly like rebates, but if an item is a good deal with the rebate, I'll take it. I've never had a problem getting my rebate. I just hate the long wait.

I am not a rebate person. I usually skip them, but this year aropund school time staples had a lot of good items with there easy rebate. I held my breath at getting a check but was suprise when it arrived, but still I will most likly pass on any rebates on black friday. I think that the stores should wait for the rebate and pass the savings on to the customer. They have a better chance at getting there money then we do. All they have to do is threaten not to carry there products anymore and BOOM ... Check magically appears :gdclap:

i don't really have a problem with doing rebates per se, but as a Canadian who comes down to the U.S. to shop for BF, i'm not eligible for them. so for someone like me and the tens of thousands of others like me who come to shop, it stinks!

I am not fond of rebates that you have to send in, but mostly I hate the type you get on the bottom of the receipt. Like CVS. They advertise it as a "sale" but it is really the regular price and you get $2 (or whatever) back in extra care bucks. That is fine if I use the $2 but if I don't get back there to use it before it expires then I just paid full price.

Haven't done mail in for a few years. Last time I done one was for Staples easy rebate online. I remeber checking status of rebates to see if they got it, processed it and mailed it.

i do not like rebates either. But if it is a good deal I will buy. Last year did 2 rebates from Kohl's and got back within a few weeks. It seems the only time I haven't gotten my money back is if I have forgotten to send it off in time. But I would rather not have to bother with them.
