brinak2005 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Now that we are hearing some of these insanely early opening times, what time will do you think you will be heading out to start your BF shopping? I absolutely despise these 10pm and midnight openings, but what can ya do? For us, it all depends on good ole Wally World. As of now, with the confirmed opening times, we'd probably leave our house around 9:30pm for the midnight openings. If there are any 10pm openings that we plan to hit, we'll probably leave around 7ish. I think the earlier opening times will have bigger crowds since people haven't gone to bed yet......what do you guys think?
Elmck Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Its going to be crazy just figuring it out. It will really depend on the ads for me. I have started my shopping now and have a few people almost done or at least know what I am getting them. I am hoping for good sales between now and BF.
tinkrbel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I agree it's going to depend 100% on ads and what I can get beforehand cheaper on Amazon. I'm not a good nighttime driver AND my mother will be wiped out from Thanksgiving prep so we'll see. It would be so much easier if I had a friend to accompany me.
3 boys Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Depends on the ads for me too. Hoping that Target has all that I want and can just chill in line(avoiding WM:)
momof3luvs1 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I will not change my bf tradition, my bff n I will leave for the outlets at 9pm. My poor dh will have to change his time though because he always goes to Target for me.
khuddle Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 still waiting to see what will happen with store times and sales. Then I will have to figure out which sales are the most important.
AndreaInNC Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I normally shop at KMart on Thanksgiving morning - but my local KMart will be gone by then (if they haven't already closed). It has been my tradition to buy new pillows for everyone on turkey day! Then head out around 9pm to our outlet mall. They had some stores open at 10pm last year (instead of midnight) so I'm not sure what the plan is. Don't really plan on spending alot is my gift to my kids is a trip to Disney/Universal and we leave Christmas morning!
starbeck96 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 It will definitely depend on what time WM opens. That is the only major retail store in our area so it totally depends on them. I am really hoping that I can get a TV and PS3 and DS in one of their Saturday sales so I don't have to wait in line BF for that. The only other big thing is a trampoline for DD. I would love if that was in the early doorbuster..lol. Then I could leave and go to the other towns that we usually shop at.
flyjar Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 11:30pm to get to Target 15 minutes before it opens.
brinak2005 Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 My start time is classified.Come on BigJim....give us the details. We won't tell anyone
Danascraps Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I'm waiting to see what's actually on sale. If I go to Target, I'd guess 10:00 ish. Most of the stuff I need this year, is no BF kind of stuff, like UGG boots and a cell phone.
bfaddict1977 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I won't be going at midnight. I don't go for the big item things. I buy them before bf. Not worth risking they are sold out. I will have lots of gc's this year to tru so that and walmart will be my first stops, then probably target but probably around 5-6 amish. Not before.
bigjimslade Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 The way things are going sometime Monday Come on BigJim....give us the details. We won't tell anyone
pogiporkchop Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I have plans to make it an all night event even if most of what I do is people watch :) No way I'm going to try entering my apartment at 3am... which reminds me I need to remind DH to get BF off of work
playacet Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Gotta work this year from 7am to 3:30pm, so I will be working my plan around that timeframe, but I will make it happen; there's always an early lunch It also depends on the ads for me too.
sassyME Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 In Maine none of the stores can open until midnight friday morning.....so we leave at 5pm thanksgiving day and stand in line eating papa johns pizza in the freezing cold.
tinkrbel Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I have been missing out on PapaJohn's all these years? Everyone else enjoying their turkey and I just get crappy sides, I doubt this knowledge will change THAT.
mamat2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 As many have said It will depend on the ads and opening times. I hate to think I will be shopping Thanksgiving am at kmart, then cooking dinner, napping and then at walmart when it opens
bugsette Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 waiting to see the ads but thins midnight stuff sucks..... might not be going out at all what happened to Turkey Day and family time
Marcster Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 For the last few years, my Black Friday shopping has been small scale compared to what some of you guys do. CVS on Thanksgiving (sometimes with a Kmart T-Giving sale for good measure). Then on the actual day of BF, I've been going to Lowe's first, sometimes OfficeMax and definitely Pep Boys. Small change to some of you, but combined with Amazon's deals it works for me (we don't have kids). Both this year and last year I've had to work at 9 am, but I haven't felt like I missed out on anything. I don't plan on getting up much before 4 am, I have to work a full 9 hour day.
AudreyNicole Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I am planning on Target only this year, and will likely leave around 10:30-11pm for the midnight opening. It's just a mile down the road so I can be there in 5 minutes.
Tad22 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 My Friend and I just met on October 30th, we made our play-by-play plan for 2011, here it is: This year I will be headed to Thanksgiving dinner at 4pm, get home at ~7pm. Rest for about an hour (to 8pm). Take a shower, change, grab my radio and chairs, and pack up the car, that should take me to 8:30pm. My friend will arrive at my house at ~8:30pm. We will be on the road by 8:40pm and get to the store we will be shopping (which is still TBD) at ~9pm. We set up the chairs and blast music and pretty much have a party in line like what we have done in the past! We will meet again on the 12th to discuss everything money and again on the 19th to figure out the store.

I like your game plan ( same precision as a coach for a football team ).
lcplwinkerswife Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 depends on wm and a few other stores ... so we shall see...but if all these places are opening atmidnight looks like ill be out at around 10 thursday night
BlackFriDiva Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I'm kind of peeved about all these early times. They just keep getting earlier and earlier.....But what can ya do?? I'm still gonna shop so I will decide when all the ads are out what my starting time will be. As of now if TRU opens at 10 again I'll be out there by 7.
doublehsmom Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I'm totally lost this year! I don't know what I'm going to do! haha I have Thankgiving thur afternoon and my kids are staying with family and so that won't be an issue I just don't know where I'm going first! If we could just see some ads this would make things SO much easier! COME ON ADS! if you know what time your opening then you should know whats on the ad right! :)
TazErase Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 My start time is classified.Same here. I have a strong feeling Best Buy will be joining the midnight club so I am going to have to do new recon and figure out when the mall will allow us to line up. For the past 5 or 6 years I have been first or second on line. I figure they will continue to threaten arrest for anyone that lines up before Thursday morning but more people will arrive earlier if they open at midnight instead of 5am.

But last year it was sometime wend. I also asked the manager prior to setting up camp if it was ok. He brought me out the ad before "anyone else" got to see it heh. All part of the perks heh. I don't suspect I will need to be there earlier then I got last year. I will do recon thoe prior to line up for the best time. Most people at my store don't seem to get there till (when it was 5am opening like 7pm-12am. So I suspect a earlier lineup during thursday. Usually its about 30+ by that time. So im not too worried.
kimmie0712 Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Like lots of you, mine depends on the ads. We normally hit Target first, but we'll see. Since I'll be 7.5 months pregnant, I'll be waddling to what I need instead of a fast walk, so I'm dragging my husband along this time. :)
