I'm very disappointed this year!

In Maine none of the stores can open until midnight friday morning.....so we leave at 5pm thanksgiving day and stand in line eating papa johns pizza in the freezing cold.

My 17 yo daughter, a close friend and my sister in law. We all have job. The friend is short w/short legs so her job is standing in line to check out while the rest of us are runners....we gather all the stuff and bring it to the front of the store where the friend is standing in line. We all cash out and are on our merry way to the next store in no time!

The best thing about black friday is the hidden deals you don't expect AND spending the day with my 17 yo daughter (her last year before going away to college). Our tradition on Thanksgiving is Papa John's pizza in the parking lot of Old Navy/Kohl's!

Freezer Apple pie filling--I make this every year to have with french toast, pancakes or waffles (or by itself) Christmas morning....nothing fancy but is good! Easy to make and freeze ahead or leave it to the last minute and do it up the night before! 24 cups of apples peeled cored and sliced 5 cups water 3 tablespoons lemon juice 2 1/2 cups sugar (can use Splenda!) 2 cups brown sugar 1 cup corn starch 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg peel and toss apples with lemon juice in a large bowl pour water into large pan and bring to boil over medium heat combine sugars, corn starch, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg in a small bowl. Add to water stir well and bring to boil. Boil for 2 minutes stirring constantly. add apples, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 6 mins cool for 30 minutes-ladle into 5 freezer containers leaving 1/2" head space, I used freezer bags! cool for no longer than 1 1/2 hours! Freeze....great on ice cream too!

I just called and had NO problem ordering 4 pair! I even asked if the price was right....they are back ordered but it says 'Stock for Fall' which led the woman to believe they would be getting them in, they just hadn't received their shipment of them yet but as soon as they do they will ship. The ads are disappointing at best. I have seen nothing worth going for but will go with the friends/family as it is tradition! I was late starting my Christmas shopping and had hoped that BF would be THE day to finish up my Christmas shopping but I don't think that is true. I have seen better sales going on now than BF. Not impressed.

Our Old Navy and Kohl's are side by side and Old Navy opened 1 hour earlier....I think 3am....this means I have to make a choice of which to go to first if they open at the same time!
