Do you think you spend to much on your kids for Christmas????

I set a limit to spend on the kids every year. This year we have had a good year so we are spending a little more than normal. We usually buy 1 large ticket item and the rest is toys and clothes. This year both boys have asked for Power Wheels Vehicles!! Not sure if Santa will find them on sale or not? The one on sale at Walmart I dont think it will work because of the weight limit.

I dont think I do, but other people think I do.

Why is it others insist on putting their :gd_twocen in? Hubby has one family member who insists on telling me how to raise my 10 month old. Now I could see if she had several more children than I or if my kids were messed up...but she has one and this baby makes #4 and my others are happy and healthy and everyone adores them. Ok gettin down off my :gd_soapbo

I don't think I do either. Each of my kids gets one or two toys for Christmas each year. Now granted, they are all toddlers (3, 3 and 1) and I know we'll buy more quantity wise as they get older. But for now, this is just right. With what they get from the Grandparents, we don't need to buy them anything really. LOL.

I must admit I do go overboard at Christmas. I think it stems of growing up dirt poor and just having the bear minimim I over compensate . I dont know why but I do. My kids have every electronic known LOL from PS2 Xbox Gamecube to PSP and DS We are thinking of getting the 360 for christmas have one on hold but not sure since kids want computers.. :runaway:

My husband tries to put a limit on each kid, but to be honest, I can't help but overspend if I have the $$$ to do it. I love giving gifts, I love shopping for gifts, and especially for people I love more than myself - my kids. :D So I don't see the harm if you have some extra money and it makes you happy, why not?

I try not to go to far over board. I usually buy one big item and a bunch of small stuff that I have been collecting all year. Some years I forget what I have bought and when I pull it out of the closet I can't believe it! This year has not been bad I haven't gone to far overboard for my 8 year old. The 15 and 16 year old step kids are getting cash. I don't know what to buy them any more and everyone loves green!

I fully intend to be the mom that gets looked back on for going completely insane with christmas... it looks like santa exploded in my front room each year and i intend on it staying that way.. My children also have 7 sets of grandparents that help that explosion take place as well!

I probably do, but they are good kids and they deserve it. It comes from my mom and my grandparents going out of their way to make sure I got pretty much everything I wanted for Christmas when I was little, even if they didn't have much. I feel like I need to give them alot. I always stop and think, how would I feel if I were them? So, I over do it to keep them smilimg and they always end up smiling even if they don't get what they want. There is always someone who will try to say that I give them too much, or spoil them, I just ask them WHO HAD THESE KIDS? Then they usually shut the h*ll up!!! lol

I do tend to go overboard. I love seeing her smile when she sees all of her presents. I'm just thankful that my husband and I are able to get the things that she wants.

We always stress the importance of charity and thankfulness to her. She loves to help me shop for toys for charities, so I think she's turning out just fine. :woot2:

I go nuts at Christmas! My husband yells at me but I just can't help myself. Last year when my granddaughter was just turning two, his parents didn't even buy her anything because between the two grandmoms she got so much. This year I have started already (August) and keep going. Its like an obsession with me to buy this kid stuff.

I used to spend way too much, but have cut down considerably since last year. My dd (12) doesnt necessarily appreciate anything anyway as she is a spoiled only child who expects us to do stuff for her, and the stuff usually just winds up on her bedroom floor getting trampled on anyway. I have been trying to talk my parents into not buying her toys and little stuff anymore that she is growing up, but they wont listen. She is only getting a few things from dh and I, but one is a laptop with accessories, so no, I dont spend too much anymore.
