alimfp Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I hide most things in my vehicle anyway. DH's Explorer is kinda nice with the cover in the back.. I may use his vehicle this year when BF shopping. Do you hide the stuff in your vehicle when out BF shoppin'? Call me paranoid, but I'm afraid some dimwit would see a bag I had and break in for it. Silly? Not in my mind.. look at what some do to get that one perfect gift for their kid.
outnumbered Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I hide stuff in my van but that's because I don't want the kids seeing it, LOL. When I get home it has to all stay in the van till I can get them either out of the house or in bed, so I can haul it all either out to the storage shed out back or up to my room and stuff it in my closet.
starshine Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Yep I lock everything in the trunk and lock the trunk pop switch in the front of the car also. Hopefully the stuff I need this year will go in the trunk!
brynnfromtheblock Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Our van is usually chock full so there's no way to really "hide" the stuff, but the windows are tinted dark so that helps a little.
Tracy72 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 my van has tinted windows..so I dont really worry about that here.
elena_398 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I have a mini-van. I just put in the far back by the hatch and have a blanket to cover bags.
bayhaysay Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I have to get my loot out of the van pretty quick because that is the first place my 10 & 4 yr olds will look. The 2 yr old just doesn't know what's going on yet but I'm sure she will catch on quick.
orangedaisy Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 When I'm out shopping, I keep as much as I can in the trunk of my car. Usually that's everything unless I buy something really big.
littlezar Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 My stuff goes in the back of the van (tinted windows make it hard to see in unless you put your face up to the glass) and then I throw a blanket over it. My girlfriend had her car broken into on BF probably about 10 years ago (they busted up the steering column but didn't steal it) and she was lucky that insurance covered most of it (her purchases) because she had all the receipts that showed she had purchased stuff that day. She said most everything was in the trunk, but she had the thing to pop the trunk from inside the car.
leaannk Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I have a cover that can pulled over the back of the storage area in my 4-Runner. I usually just keep the cover closed.
diane175 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 my van has tinted windows..so I dont really worry about that here. Ditto here! My Explorer has rear tinted windows and its hard to see in.
DKS88 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Ditto here! My Explorer has rear tinted windows and its hard to see in. My husband has limo tint on his back windows so you can't see in even if you put your face to the window in bright sunshine!!!! So no problems for me!!!
Gporter34 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I put everything in my van and cover with blankets. We have never had any problems in our town with cars getting broken into on BF. But, when I get home, if the kids are awake, they will run straight out to the van and try to look inside. So, I just take a minute or two to throw a blanket over everything.
jrsgirl8 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I don't have time. Gotta get to the next store!!!! Actually it will be nice this year because I just got a new Caravan witht he stow and go, so anything I want to hide I will be able to!!!
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 we have a Kia Rio...the trunk is broken...so I am screwed.... ugh.
mrsbmb Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I buy a bag of lawn and leaf trash bags to keep in the trunk for xmas shopping. then i put everything inside the trash bags and haul it in the house. no one can see inside. then after i wrap stuff i put it right back in those trash bags and tie them shut so they have to be cut open. they are all ready to be hauled downstairs christmas eve. right now i have two big bullitin boards wrapped and they are right behind the couch the kids sit on everyday..lol they will never notice. kathy
eve Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I buy a bag of lawn and leaf trash bags to keep in the trunk for xmas shopping. then i put everything inside the trash bags and haul it in the house. no one can see inside. then after i wrap stuff i put it right back in those trash bags and tie them shut so they have to be cut open. they are all ready to be hauled downstairs christmas eve. right now i have two big bullitin boards wrapped and they are right behind the couch the kids sit on everyday..lol they will never notice. kathylol to funny:rotflol: :rotflol: i really don't think i'll have a need to do the hiding
alimfp Posted October 23, 2005 Author Posted October 23, 2005 Both of our vehicles have tinted windows.. but if you get the right angle, I can still see in anyway. *shrug* LOL. I usually have a blanket in my van when needing to hide stuff. Not much will fit under the seats sadly.
dealluvr Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 i try to but i have a geo storm hatchback.you can see everything in the back.usually i have a blanket to put over the stuff but in the end if somebody wants your stuff they will get it so i don't get too crazy about it
Chunka Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I always hide, its a lack of trust on others lol
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I wish I could hide the stuff, but as I already said, I have a kia rio with a jammed trunk....and I have to drive 45 miles home with whatever I buy with my son in tow.... (just turned 3!)
michelle_cols_oh Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 about 12 years ago we went to the movies on BF later in the evening and someone broke into my escort wagon :-( insurance wouldn't cover the few things we had in there. i have a mini van now and really wish I had a trunk to lock stuff in!!! i always worry about that. I hide the stuff in the garage (it's a wreck) until i can get it wrapped and put away in the house. it's worked before. now i have a friend without kids so i can hide the stuff at her house
mrsbmb Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 dont forget if you have a pop button in the car to the trunk to make sure you lock the car doors too or anyone could just reach in your car and pop the trunk open. kathy
Tessangel Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I usually do til the kids go to bed! Now that we live in a new house with a huge walk in closet that's where they will go! :)
AuntJamelle Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 This year I will be taking my car and plan to have the trunk cleaned out so I can store items in there as I buy. Thanks to the tips on this thread I will also take a couple of blankets in case I need to throw them over something that has to go in the back seat. I love this site! I've learned alot in a short time!
Postal Phil Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 My car has dark tinted windows so stuff is hid pretty well.
drmy91 Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 We take Goretex fabric and cover ours when we go into places for a long period of time, like Sears.
JanaBanana Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I have a mini van with tinted windows also but I hide my stuff as best as I can...
