JBKing Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 First of all, thanks for a great site Brad and Rossman. My wife discovered your site last year, and we couldn't wait for the ads to start showing up for this year. I'm wondering, does anyone still get excited to see the actual ads on Thanksgiving, even after reading the ads here, weeks in advance? We have our game plan mapped out days before Thanksgiving, but still like to look at the actual ads themselves. Maybe it's the feeling you know BF is just one day away once you have the ads in your hands, or maybe it's the feel of that slick paper in your hands, the smell of newsprint, the actual photos.....
Gumball Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I do because then you have concrete evidence with you for price matching.
heavenlysshine Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Having the ads in hand just pumps the adrenaline through the roof for me. I know. I'm sick with it. ~H~
fairydustcrissy Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Having the ads in hand just pumps the adrenaline through the roof for me. I know. I'm sick with it. ~H~SAme here. This is great, but it just doesnt compare to holding that thin paper in your hands
rkcjwares Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 My girlfriends and I are already lining up our plan of attack! We do spend spend Thanksgiving night calling each other though after we actually get the ads!
happysunshine28 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 This is the first time I have seen a scanned copy of an ad in advance, so in the past I always seen something I missed by reading a list.
oldandintheway Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Yes, I still get excited to see the ads on Thanksgiving because it means BF is finally here . Also, even though I enjoy seeing the ads online and greatly appreciate all the hard work that it takes posting the ads, it would be my luck that one of the stores would decide to change their BF ad at the last minute. Then I wouldn't have any idea what I was looking for.
genoandkiddo Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Having the ads in hand just pumps the adrenaline through the roof for me.Same here, it's like having chocolate for the very first time. Even though we know what is going to be in the ad, you still get a sense of WOOOOOHOOOOO!!! IT'S TOMORROW!!!
star1979 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Yes, it is a chance for me to show my parents what i want and see what they will pay for to re-adjust my spending budget
MaddynAllysMom02 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 yeah, even though I LOVE the advanced looking, I still love looking through the ads on Thanksgiving...............theres nothing like seeing it in print to make it a reality! LOL
brynnfromtheblock Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Of course I still get up and get the paper first thing, but I am still a little disappointed when there's no surprises........Sometimes though there are stores that we didnt' get on line that have deals as well, which can end up totally throwing off our game plan. We have a brandsmart for instance and though we knew exactly where we were going until the had the Gameboy Advance SP's last year for 69.00. Had to restrategize then!!
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 but I am still a little disappointed when there's no surprises! Are you kidding? I live for the paper, WHY? Because, then we get the $10 Carsons card....etc!
brynnfromtheblock Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 We don't have that here... so no coupons
Gator Pam Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I do because then you have concrete evidence with you for price matching. Ditto!
erh12275 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Are you kidding? It is like 10 times worse cuz then I start planning my strategy..lol.
Tracy72 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 yep...love to see everything...lol...my mom brings her paper in for me....we dont get one...last in line on the postal route..which stinks...lol but love the paper
MarkRaby Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Absolutely. For one, there's always a store or two for which no one posts the info early (i.e. last year, it was Media Play). Also, it lets me know for sure that the deals apply in my area. For example, last year, all BF sites showed some really cool Doorbusters at Best Buy, then I get my local ad and saw that they were not in my flyer for Best Buy (they were replaced by a really dumb mail-in gift card offer)!! I would have been really upset if I had gone to BB fully intending to get those offers and then find out right on the spot they were not available. -Mark-
jrsgirl8 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I think that is when the excitement really sets in!!! I usually have the ads memorized and that was before I new about this site!!!
Steakgoddess Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Oh yes!! The papers are great. I pour over them just to double check everything. Validation really. Plus it helps me plan since I am a touchy type person.
Gporter34 Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I still like to have the actual ad in my hands, but I hardly ever even get to see the WalMart ad so it's great to at least see it early and make my list as they come out.
Guest Deals4Me Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 I agree with ya'll having it in hand really makes the day....and helps in PM.
pcsoon Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I like the ads in hand. Their still read over and over even though I knew the deals for a couple of weeks.:)
Tessangel Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 I also like to see the ads and have them in hand! :)
Marcster Posted October 24, 2005 Posted October 24, 2005 For example, last year, all BF sites showed some really cool Doorbusters at Best Buy, then I get my local ad and saw that they were not in my flyer for Best Buy (they were replaced by a really dumb mail-in gift card offer)!! I would have been really upset if I had gone to BB fully intending to get those offers and then find out right on the spot they were not available.I get the Allentown paper delivered, but three years ago I went to BF @ BB in Wyomissing (the other direction from my house, 'cause the Allentown BB is pretty far away) and the some of the deals were different. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileys/Nasties/doh.gif Now I'll pick up a Reading paper (Reading, PA) on T-Day so I know I have the "right" ads.
tootsieroll23 Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Thanks to this site we know in advance what is on sale on BF, but we still fight over which one of us gets to look at the actually ads first. It's become another BF tradition for us.
gigit65 Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 I get all the guys at work bringing in thier paper so I don't have to buy any. Then I spend the next 15hours pouring over everything. OOPS forgot to cook the turkey!!???!!
vonnyb Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 Yup, I still like looking at the newspaper. It is something about sitting down after dinner and doing your final run through before BF.
pinkroses4mommy Posted October 31, 2005 Posted October 31, 2005 It's a Thanksgiving day tradition at my mom's house. We eat lunch, lock all the kids outside so they can't hear us, and make the plan! My mom and my sister go to one place, and me and my mother in law go to another. We keep in touch with cell phones to see who got what! Last year we both went to Walmart, only different ones, that way if one of us didn't get something, the other one did. It is great! The only problem with this site is that now I'm ready to go camp out at Walmart, and it's not even November yet!
masilke Posted November 1, 2005 Posted November 1, 2005 Yes, it is part of Turkeyday for me. Cup of coffee and my ads. I am not too much into football..........lol
