Pretty good deals on this site
jdrd90 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I have never purchased anything refurbished. To be honest, I would feel guilty giving my son a refurbished Ipod. Please don't attack me for feeling this way lol Someone convince me that this is a good deal lol. The price is great, just can't grasp the whole refurbished thing.
whotami Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Is this a newer model than the one on www.apple.com for $149 and free shipping? It just says "previous generation" on Apple. If it is the same I'd rather go through the Apple website.
simplydivine Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 LOL!! I can relate, I used to feel the same way. Two years ago I took the plunge and now 99% of the electronics I buy are refurbished. They look brand new when they arrive. I've bought refurbed mp3 players, 'puters (1 laptop & 1 netbook), tv and have never had a problem. I always figured if it looked like something the dog coughed up when it arrived, I'd send it back asap.
speeddiva Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I love refurb. I've never gotten one that was bad.
jdrd90 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I always figured if it looked like something the dog coughed up when it arrived, I'd send it back asap. LOL did a spit-take on that one lol So, they are packaged new? The only person to know it is refurbished would be me?
speeddiva Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Alot of the time it will come in a plain box instead of the packaging you see in the store....or there will be a sticker on the box. That's the only difference.

whotami Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Doesn't it say 2nd Generation? not on the apple website.
tgunn_ocs Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 We purchased three of the refurbished ones from the Apple online store. These are for our younger kids 6-7-8 and will be fine for them. They carry the same warranty as a new one from Apple and the kids could care less. On a side note, in my business I have purchased many a refurbished cell phone from Verizon and you would be hard pressed to know these are refurbished. They come with all the accessories and are in new condition. I would recommend this route for anyone who is looking to replace a damaged phone or needs a new before their contract is up.
simplydivine Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 The TV came in a plain box, the others came in the original packaging with a tested or refurb sticker on it. Very small and easy to take off. If it comes in a plain box, toss it and put it in a stocking...lol!! Or.... get some of that double sided tape or strong glue and wrap the box with it so they "become one"
simplydivine Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 Comparing the specs of the two, they appear to be the same.
whotami Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Comparing the specs of the two, they appear to be the same. Thank you so much,,,,I'm new to the Ipod world!
simplydivine Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) LOL!! Me too! I bought an ipod for my son last xmas and will one day buy one for me My daughter just turned 12 and has had sanza's, yes, plural. She is soooo rough on them which is why I buy refurbished for her.....LOL!! SelenaV Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Ok, I'm really interested in a refurb'd laptop. Any sites y'all recommend I use or any I should steer clear of? Selena
simplydivine Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 I check on this sitelinkrefurbdepot also newegg.com, hp.com
jessifarr Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 I just received a 8gb touch from the Apple site last week for my daughters birthday (and this is the 4th ipod we have ordered refurb from Apple) and I HIGHLY recommend it!
cjs9473 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 When you purchase refurbished ipods on the Apple site, I know you get the same warranty as you would for a new one. We have purchased two refurbished ipods from them and have never had a problem.
knudsons Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Just ordered 3 for Christmas gifts, I have spent about 10 hours searching ad's and calling places as this one the one big ticket all 3 kids asked for. I have ordered Kodak refurbished before but never even thought of that this time. Thanks so much to the original poster.
Kibit13 Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 My DH orders from B&H a lot and has not had any problems with them.
mildmom Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 What's in the Box: Apple [Refurbished] 8GB iPod touch iPod touch Earphones USB 2.0 Cable Dock Adapter Polishing Cloth Quick Start Guide 90-Day B&H Warranty So does it not come with a regular power charging cord? Do you charge it through your computer? What is the Dock Adapter? Do I need to buy a Dock?
amood06 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 What's in the Box:Apple [Refurbished] 8GB iPod touch iPod touch Earphones USB 2.0 Cable Dock Adapter Polishing Cloth Quick Start Guide 90-Day B&H Warranty So does it not come with a regular power charging cord? Do you charge it through your computer? What is the Dock Adapter? Do I need to buy a Dock? No ipods come with a power cord, you can buy separately. The USB cable is what you use to charge ipod and dowload songs until you get a separate docking station or power cord for home outlets, trust me they have tons of accessories for ipods. I would buy a separate dock like one that has a speaker if you don't want to keep hooking it up to your computer. As far as the dock adapter, I'm pretty sure I threw that away accidentally not knowing what it was. Apple ipods don't exactly come with real manuals. Your kind of on your own trying to figure out its capabilities.
tgunn_ocs Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 for anyone wondering, the boxes from apple are white, and at the very top of the box, they say Apple Certified Refurbished. They are like new otherwise. Five Below is a great place for accessories if you have them in your area.
krmckee Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 So it seems the 8G are out of stock at Apple Anyone know if they will get more in??????
siillyy2000 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I just bought one from B&H I believe I have bought from them before . I did check apple but they were sold out oh well I"m sure this one will be find
krmckee Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 So is a refurbed ipod from them the same as one from Apple? Do they go thru the same refurb process???
davidmg1 Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 Comparing the specs of the two, they appear to be the same. There is not much difference between a 2nd and 3rd Gen 8GB iPod Touch. You would see a difference in the 32GB and 64GB 3rd Generations...they have a higher speed chip and a few other features. I was planning on buying one for DD8 for Christmas from Apple, but being OOS worries me. I bought the same one for my DD11 for her birthday this year and she loves it. No problems with refurbs. Guess I better jump on this one.
amood06 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 NOOOOOO!!!! Out of Stock I was planning on buying the 8gb (refurb) from apple for my daughter. I'm going to have to start jumping on deals when I see them and stop waiting for the price to drop lower.
jdrd90 Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 It's showing in stock for me. Oh wait , sorry..I thought you meant from this site.
