Kayshar13 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Where are they? It seems like noones posting this year i found/posted some things but nothing exciting, i literally was addicted last year to the Amazon toy thread there was constant posting, am i too early still?
brianacolie Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I have been wondering the same thing all day. I don't really like the gold box format for this week. And I'm really starting worry about buying toys now. COME ON AMAZON!
tn20 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Still too early! :) Last year, my orders didn't start until something like December 4th and I stopped ordering around the 14th, I wanna say. If you go to amazon, click on my account, then scroll down, there is an option to see all the orders you've placed over the past 3 or 4 years. Then you can see when you made all your previous purchases. I don't think it lists the price, just the item and the date. It should be coming soon, though! I can't wait either, even though all my kids already have way too much stuff!
chefpatty Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 My orders went from Dec 2 until Dec 15th.
kellmarr Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Im hoping the same thing - I have so far only placed one very small order from Amazon and last year my poor delivery guys were here almost every day due to Amazon! Hope things turn around!
Lyricsmama Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Yup too early! Give it a few more days, started in December last year and the year before :)
rogueleader Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I don't recall there being that many deals last year at all. Not like the year before at least.
chefpatty Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I don't recall there being that many deals last year at all. Not like the year before at least.I recall the same thing. Last year some good deals but two years ago there were some crazy deals. I wonder how this year will be since they say most places didn't stock as much as usual...wonder if Amazon followed that rule of thumb.
Scruzin Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I am ready! Last year the deals just happened to be the last few things my kids were asking for, so I lucked out. This year I am ready. Question, those of you who watch Amazon, do I just need to watch for the deals here in the forum, or put the things I am waiting and watching for in my cart on amazon and see when the price drops?

If you wait until everything is posted here, they might sell out or push the price back up. I didn't know about the sale the year before last, when it was supposed to be so great, but I heard that Amazon and Target were feuding over something in 07, so Amazon was basically trying to tank Target's online toy sales by offering everything Target had on sale for dirt cheap. They got everything straightened out, supposedly, before last year, so there wasn't a huge toy sale in 08. My guess is that 09 is going to be more like 08 than 07. But, I didn't have any problems with last year's sale. I got a lot of things that were on wish lists for VERY cheap! My hopes for this year are that Amazon and Walmart go head to head online. They are already doing it with movies, hopefully that will go into toys. They did last year with Cherry Blossom Market stuff and I got it for CHEAP.

deljack27 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Hopefully they have a deal on Geotrax and Handy Manny toys. I have some of the toys in my cart but so far the prices have only increased.
brainfreeze Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) Checked my order status from last year. Started on the Dec 2nd. I got my very best deal on Dec 2nd (lego star wars) and it continued solid for two weeks, less activity on the weekends, straight through to the 15th. I got particularly great deals on the 2nd, the 9th and 13th. The 2nd was the day after Cyber Monday...so that could translate to Dec 1st this year. Also I noticed Tuesdays were particularly good for me. Anybody else have particular luck with a certain day of the week, and in what category? I noticed I got a lot of board games on Friday the 12th and Monday the 15th. It may have been I was too busy on weekends? Anyway, watch out it might hit on the 1st! angleyez423 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 We have been waiting for this and starting to get worried. Our purchases started on Nov. 27th, but maybe that was just a good purchase outside that window. Since we travel 3,000 miles for Xmas we have to have everything shipped there and Amazon has been great for that....but we are so stuck on DD5 this year because she wants expensive Barbie, Littlest Pet Shop and some other things that are always best priced during that sale. I have it all in my cart waiting to go down, but that doesn't always work if the seller isn't Amazon. I noticed on LPS a lot of it is other sellers and it keeps falling out of my cart because they go out of stock. Thankfully DS7 is almost done, and unfortunately we have to travel with his stuff because he wanted big Lego sets and we got a really good deal here at home. He just needs some fillers that I always get from Amazon during the sale. I'm going crazy here, I want my shopping done!!!!! Anyone know any good Barbie sales for Princess or 3 Musketeer Princess???? Her #1 request at minimum $25 each. I think that's pricey.
pinkshamrocks Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I add items I'm watching to my cart and wait/hope for the price to drop, too. Works well... sometimes I even forget I wanted something until Amazon lets me know the price of items in my cart has dropped... lol
mabennett Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 how do you get the email that the price has dropped?
Brad Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 how do you get the email that the price has dropped? There isn't an e-mail. You just add items to your cart, and then check your cart periodically. There will be a message for each item that has had its price change.
erinplus3 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 My ordering started last year on Nov. 29th and went pretty much every day through Dec. 15th. My biggest ordering day was Dec. 4th. I think we'll start seeing some price drops on Tuesday, after Cyber Monday is over. I definitely ordered more from Amazon in 2007, but 2008 still had some really good deals. I ended up returning almost every toy I'd bought from Walmart on BF last year because Amazon ended up beating the prices by enough that it was worth my time to take them back to the store.
allshoppedout Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Hoping an experience Amazon shopper can answer my question--it isn't regarding a TOY deal, but Amazon in general. I placed an order for a Magazine subscription $20 for a year--- that was on NOVEMBER 22... It is Nov. 30--8 days later--Now the price is $10 Will they adjust this at all?To top it off--it says SHIPPED-- but below that subscription won't arrive until approx JAN 11 .
Lyricsmama Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Amazon no longer price adjusts They stopped doing it last year, it sucks! Magazine subscriptions always take a few weeks to get usually between 4-6 weeks or something like that.
Premo Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Has anyone tried to purchase the Spinmaster RC cars? bogo? Says they will deduct at checkout but their not. Called amazon and the guy said it doesn't show up in their promotions.. Anyone else tried?
Kayshar13 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Posted December 1, 2009 ya 07' was amazing it was my first year shopping on amazon for Christmas i was hooked, last year wasnt as good BUT i still got a ton of good deals, i never thought to go check my last year orders for dates.. good idea!! looks like we should start seeing deals now!! i already got some good ones thi syear but the previous years that toy thread was on fire all day and night long!
debbieshops2003 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Its December 1st....now I'm starting to stress. I've placed some orders. I bought a Sony Blu Ray player for my sister and an external hard drive for my husband and a few movies for my kids....but where are those GREAT deals we've become accustomed to???? I've had such awesome luck with Amazon in the past. I bought keyboards, slingboxes, video cameras, toys, sporting goods etc....I'm not finding anything THAT great. I'm ordering...but only one or two orders a day as opposed to the door being blocked by boxes when I get home. I can only buy so many dvds for my kids. Its gonna look like Blockbuster blew up in my living room if they don't start their sale soon. Let the sales begin!!!!
tn20 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I'm trying not to worry about it for a few more days! If we get through the rest of the week and things don't start happening, then I'll be disapointed. If I remember correctly, either here or on another forum I used to go to, there were a lot of people last year that started posting that the sale wasn't going to happen because it had already started at that point in 07. Lets just keep our fingers crossed that the economy didn't ruin our annual toy sale and take the extra couple of days to put all the items we're interested in into our saved items!
angleyez423 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I'm not worrying until Friday since that's my next day off. If it starts too soon, that's all I'll think about at work!!!! I start work at 7, right when the legos went on today...and we aren't allowed to use internet. Oh well, I used it anyway and was able to pick up the IJ Lego set today. Since my husband and I both got it into our carts, he bought DS's and I was able to let a co-worker buy mine. That will make 3 little boys happy on Christmas (he got it since it had 2 planes and his boys won't share their legos, lol). I hope the Lego deals continue, although we are going on Lego overload now!
jleigh1219 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I recall the same thing. Last year some good deals but two years ago there were some crazy deals. I wonder how this year will be since they say most places didn't stock as much as usual...wonder if Amazon followed that rule of thumb.Yes, two years ago totally rocked!! Last year not as much. I seem to remember that everyone kept waiting for the really big day to start and there was not a really big day nor crazy sales like there were in 07.
o_arlene Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I agree that 07 was a great year! I was checking and I have orders from Dec. 5,6,7,9,12,13 and 16! that's a lot! and most of my orders were price adjusted (so sad that they are not doing that anymore) let's hope for good deals! I am ready
persse3 Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I was just thinking about this. My first Amazon order was in 07 because of gd! Last year it was good but nothing like 07. Hopefully they get moving with the sale soon. My little on needs a ton of stuff still!
Scruzin Posted December 2, 2009 Posted December 2, 2009 I am ready. I feel like I am getting to excited and the sale will never start.
