1. I did a quick search and didn't see much support for WAP in vB. There was one plugin, but it was in beta I think.
2. And here are a couple animated banners as well. Both are 468x60. You'll have to fish around to click the invisible banners. Both animated gifs start fully white and are therefore blending in with the background. Sorry! Alternately, you can try these links for animated banner 1 and animated banner 2.
3. Brad will be releasing official Black Friday @ GottaDeal banners within the next couple weeks. In the meantime, I threw together some generic banners for anyone's use. Feel free to use these on your website, blog, forum signatures, or wherever. 2 banners are oddball sizes, and the rest are 468x60. Disclaimer: I'm not a graphic artist. Looking at these banners will prove that. If you have graphic design skillz, please feel free to make and post your own, too! If you need motivation, just look at my banners, shake your head, and show me how it's done!
4. You forgot to mention that you're going to buy the winner whatever the item in #1 was. You are doing that for the winner, right?
5. I bring the ads with me, even if I have been to that store. This year, I was in Staples later in the day and was able to show someone in line how the item they were going to get for $20 after rebates could be purchased at Circuit City for $5 after rebates . . . and that yes, they had quite a few in stock when I left Of course, the ads also help pass the time while you re-read them for the 50th time in line.
6. I'm guessing furniture could probably be the last stop of the day, since you'd have to go home and clear out your other purchases anyway. Is there really going to be a rush at the furniture store to be one of the lucky 10 people to buy that oak table for half price? Maybe. I certainly wouldn't know :)
7. Most of my family shakes their head in bewilderment when they find out I started my BF shopping at 11 pm the night of Thanksgiving and finished a bit after noon on the following day . . . then they curse me for all the deals I got that they didn't.
8. The link supplied for referring people to the GD forums is straightforward: http://forums.gottadeal.com/index.php?referrerid=XXXX However, if I tack the referrer ID on the end, I should be able to send people to a specific thread and still get referral credit if they sign up, right? http://forums.gottadeal.com/showthread.php?t=47207&referrerid=XXXXI don't see why it wouldn't work, but I wanted to confirm this before I used this method and rip myself off from all my referrals.
9. Ahh, yes. That's one of the side perks of my method.
10. All of our gifts are from Mom & Dad. We don't do the Santa thing in our house. Or the Easter Bunny. Or Tooth Fairy. Our kids will still get plenty of Christmas gifts, Easter gifts, and money for lost teeth, just without any of the fictional characters. Especially for C&E. What do you mean, retarded? To the contrary! IMO, this 20-year-old has it right. That means he's still getting double presents on Christmas!
11. You spent it counting down to BF, remember?
12. I had Staples Karma this year! I got there an hour after their opening. When I entered, I walked back to the middle of the store and an associate asked me if I needed help. I asked him about one item, and he gave me directions to find them (across the store) with no trouble. I decided against that item, and once I rounded the corner, another employee asked me if I needed anything. I told him that I wanted the 200GB hard drive ($30 AR, IIRC), and he winced. He said that they had sold them, but that he would look around. He went up front, entered their little room, and suddenly, he and another employee carried out a few boxes of that hard drive. He handed me one, and I heard them announce over the speaker: "We announced that we were sold out of the 200GB hard drives, but we do have a few remaining. Anyone standing in line that was not able to get one, please raise your hand and we will try to be fair in handing them out." I walked back to the middle of the store and a third employee asked me if I needed help. He was standing right next to the last item I needed, so he grabbed it for me. On top of those experiences, Staples customer service on the floor was amazing. Not only was I repeatedly offered help, but employees were asking people who were standing in line if they missed anything or needed anything else. If they mentioned an item, the employee would bring the item back to the customer. I could have just went straight to the line and had them get everything for me The only bad (laughable) experience was shortly after I entered the store. I overheard one employee behind the camera counter. He held up a compact flash card to another employee and said, "Do we have any of the litte ones, too?" The other employee replied, "You mean the SD cards?" The guy shrugs and said "Whatever. The little one." I decided to not ask him for help about anything.
13. I third this statement. BB & WM are the ones I avoid. CC wasn't a stroll in the park, but there were helpful staff in my location. I found one item on my own and relied on staff for my other items. I saw my aunt in Staples after missing out on that deal in CC. She got there well after opening, and I could have easily grabbed it for her since I was in the first surge of people through the door. (That Staples had sold out of them, too.)
14. I purchased this item in-store at CC. The mini RoboSapien is inside the packaging with the big one, so I didn't think it was a special addition.
15. I'm sure this may be a matter of policy as this Hammond guy said, but are we to believe that every BB employee follows procedures like this, especially on Black Friday?!?!? Not likely. Did anyone who braved BB on BF get asked about having their item looked at before they left the store? When the store is empty, they like to explain all their tiers of extended warranty service, credit card offers, etc. On Black Friday (or even when there is a considerable line any other time of the year), this just doesn't happen. I suspect the viewing of the merchandise would work the same way.
16. This may sound masochistic, but is there a way to force the Lite version to show?
17. I'm surprised that these news reporters didn't also accept fake memos that appeared to have Brad talking about being evil and such.
18. Thanks, sperdue! I have no idea why that didn't float to the top of my searches.
19. In the OD B&M ad on the last page, the Polaroid portable DVD player is listed as 7' (seven feet). For only $100, that's a great deal, though I think it's false advertising when they say "portable".
20. I understand the need for a lite version when traffic is high. The problem is, traffic's going to be quite high until after BF is done now, and I can't check the Shopping List items! Is there still a way to access the My Shopping List feature when the Lite Version of BF is up? I know there was a link before to print your list out, but I still want to keep checking/unchecking items to refine my list. I love that format for creating a list, compared to the old fashioned methods!
21. I honestly can't expect that a <$100 digital camera would get great reviews :)
22. My wife would like to buy a digital camera for our 4-year-old this year. (No way am I paying that money to have lousy photos developed!) Given that quality is not a concern, which camera would you recommend for a toddler? My Goals: Under $100DurableDigitalAs for the $100 limit, I'm hoping that a couple cheap cameras will have further discounts on BF.
23. Novac

Got my Dell Laptop

LOL! Word.
24. I'm always paranoid about layaway. My items always seem to disappear by the time I return to get my stuff. You know how retail employees are!
25. Same thing here! Except one of my hard drives just toasted itself, so I'll probably be looking hard for another. I bought a printer that prints onto CDs/DVDs this year, so I'll be looking for printable discs this year.
