  1. Well, you convinced me to look a little harder. I went to 2 other Walmarts today and found some of these PJs. They are a huge improvement over the last 2 years IMHO. Thicker, warmer, sized right, and just much more wearable in general. I am a little concerned about shrinkage, though. Fortunatly I was able to get one pair in DS's size, and another pair the next size up. They were really scarce. The first store I went to didn't seem to have any at first. They had all of the clothing leftovers down 1 aisle, and there weren't any there. But while I was looking around, 1 pair of Cars size 3T appeared in the bin with juniors PJs. There was a very busy employee running around, and I think she reshelved them. At the next store there were 5 pairs hiding on the back side of a box that looked like it was all jean/t-shirt sets. At both stores they rang up $3, but it looked like they might have been working on changing some of the prices up. They were rearranging the boxes and racks and the men's boots were marked $20 instead of $7. I think the coat were marked up too, but I'm not positive they were the same ones from BF.
  2. There were absolutly zero in my store when I got there. What did I miss out on? Were they better than last years?
  3. I live in WI and see the same thing here. For example, everyone else's $2 movies were $3.20 for us. I'm glad I got to see the local flyers before I went out - there are times that I don't get a chance to check and am disappointed at the higher price when I get to the store. I was able to order $10 pre-release movies online. I used my account and card to pay, but had to have the movies shipped to family in Illionis were there is no minimum markup law. We aren't allowed to have them sent to us in WI.
  4. I lost a lot of sleep to order this online in the wee hours of the morning. Then when I was at my Wal-mart at 9:00 I walked past a display full of them, all colors! And I could have slept!
  5. I couldn't get out until 8:00 - that's the soonest my friend could watch my kids, and I wasn't going to take them with. I made it through: Menard's. I got everything on my list: Slippers, photo albums, FAR tape, screwdrivers and measuring tapes Walmart. Found 5 movies 3.20 (WI minium markup ), $6, and $9, Wii play with remote (PM'd Target for $39), I did find 1 red track suit size 7/8. I think there were 2 more that size, the rest were all size 10/12. There were no kids PJs, kid's boots, boys sweatshirts, boys track sets, or girls track suit for my other DD. Sears. I was pleastly surprised to find that they DID have the Edsal shelf in stock. When I tried to order it online this morning, the price was $59.99 instead of the $39.99 doorbuster price, and it was showing that it would be avalible in 7-10 days. I figured I would look anyways and they had several in stock. I got one shelf and two 2GB SD cards ($5.99). Target. 3.99 movie, $5 & $7 kid's PJs. Kmart. Checked out at 11:10, but the sale prices were still in effect. I got 2 women's long-sleeved tees (3.99), 1 women's sweater (8.99), and 2 girls' fuzzy slipper socks (2/$5). Couldn't find the Joe Boxer pillows, but I didn't look too hard because I wanted to be sure to check out before the registers switched back to regular prices. Then I was back to pick up my kids at 11:15. 5 stores in 3 hours, 15 min! The longest line I had to wait in was 3 people deep. I missed out on a few things, but it was nice to get in and out quickly. I did stay up all night ordering my hotter items online so I didn't miss out. After picking the kids up, we went to Boston store to get something for my mom. The didn't have it, but the kids did get to see Santa ($5 for the pic). So we went to check the other Boston Store. They didn't have mom's dog beds, either. However, I did find a 10-pack of glasses for $8 that begged to come home with me. Of course, being a doorbuster, they were not eligible for any coupon usage. Whatever, nothing in the store is, right? So I paid and on my way out I ran into a bin with a green sign that said "Use your $10/$10 coupon on this item". Inside were pillows for 12.97. Weeeeeellllll, I did miss out on the pillows at Kmart, so I stood in line second time to purchase a pillow for 2.97. Then out to lunch and now time for a nap before tonight's holiday parade. I think the Christmas tree will have to wait another day.
  6. I got the Philips GoGear! I thought that I was on the right page, kept refreshing but there was no option to buy. I searched again, went here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=13227320, and was able to purchase.
  7. I have my eyes set on the $29 Phillips 4GB at Walmart. Kmart has a 2GB stick for $10. I got the 2GB from Kmart last year and it works fine for me. DH wants something with a few more features, so I'd like to get him the Philips.
  8. They will when they sell their tickets!
  9. I've never tried returning one, but you might be able to get the full amount paid back as long as you return the coupon or GC as well. I know that Walgreen's requires you to return any RR that were earned buying the item. I believe that Target's receipt groups the items and the GC together and says something like "All items must be returned for a full refund".
  10. I can't go shopping on BF morning! I am all for taking kids out responsibly. I've done it before. Last year it was me, my mom, and my 2-year-old. This year would be me and all 3 kids, ages 6,4,3. They stress me out in a store on a normal shopping day - trying to go in different directions, taking things off shelves, insisting on pushing the cart. There is no way I could take my 3 kiddos out friday. (Not to say that someone else couldn't, I just know my kids can't handle it) I do have a babysitter, but she can't take them before 8:00. Here's hoping for a great morning of online shopping...
  11. Is anyone running any sales on games? I should have bought them at Target, but I decided to wait another year to get a wii. DH changed my mind. Now we have a wii on the way and could use a deal on Metroid, Mario Kart, and New Super Mario Bros. We could use another set of controllers, too.
  12. I'm looking for a 46-47" LCD. Walmart has 3: Sony, RCA and Samsung. None have refresh rates listed. Is it fair to assume they are all 60Hz? Does anyone have any opinions on these TVs? About HDMI. Is this how you connect you DVD/Blue ray to the TV? Is there something special that makes one higher quality than another? I have read that it is cheaper to order them online, so I'd like to start looking for a deal now, before we get the TV set up.
  13. Ooooh, yeah! I have been wandering stores touching things all week. My main concern is the clothing stuff. You can research electronics, but ya never know about that BF cloth. I have been checking out kids pjs and trying on sweaters so I know what is worth grabbing on the way to the register.
  14. I am so eager to get started, but I can't seem to shake off my kids!
  15. OK, so I won't be falling for that "Come buy super-cheap kids PJs" trick. They have fooled me with that one too many times before. WE know that, unless Walmart changes it's ways, they are worthless, paper-thin, super-undersized pieces of junk. How many other people know that? There are a few things in the ad that interest me, but I am a little scared to get there at 5am. Sure there will be a lot of people there for electronics, but I can see there being an insane amout of people there for the really cheap stuff, too. I know quite a few people who can't afford much this year. I am imagining a total madhouse of people fighting for pjs, jogging suits, jackets, and $2 DVDs just so they have something to give to thier kids. I think I will try to get what I can online, then show up at Walmart after the sun comes up and dig through the rubble to see what is left.
  16. New living room. Furniture that magically repells anything the kids would do to it, carpeting that does the same, sleek entertainment center with a beautiful new flat screen TV, blue-ray player, sound system, wii, and a lifetime subscription to some sort of HD programmming. And, if it's not too much to ask for, some nice artwork or mirrors for decoration. How 'bout it, Santa? I have been really good this year. If that's too much, I will just take the new bed that I have been wanting for a decade and DH is completely opposed to. Or I can buy the bed and Santa can leave some happy pills for DH...
  17. I remember the Christmas my DD was 16 months. We were in a position to be able to give her things, so we did. I didn't take into consideration all the gifts that she would get from family, too. The pile of gifts was overwhelming. She was so upset on Christmas morning because she would open gifts until she found one that interested her just to have someone take it away and have her open something else. After a while she refused to open anything at all. It took 3-4 days for her to open all the gifts, and most didn't get much play. I saw this same thing happen to a young friend at her 2nd birthday party this year, too. She found a bear that she wanted to play with and was done opening gifts. When her parents set it off to the side so that she could finish opening the rest of the gifts she got really upset. Most toddlers would be happy with a couple of toys to love, and if generous family wants to give more they could add to a bank account for later. This could be a college fund, first car fund, or just your child's savings accout - one that she can add to and manage when she is old enough. Hindsight is 20/20, right? Here are a few things that I have learned that could prevent a Christmas meltdown: 1. Give a young child plenty of time to open packages. They just can't rip through the paper like a 7-year-old can. 2. Let her play with her new toy for a while before asking her to turn her attention to the next gift. 3. Whenever possible take toys out of the original packaging before wrapping them. Otherwise you will spend all of Christmas day untangling toys while your child begs to get them out faster. When it is already out of the package she can check it out right away. That said, you were looking for gift ideas. Here are some my kids liked at that age: 1. Little people. My kids are 6,4, and 3 and still play with them fairly regularly. I still wish that I has picked up a Little People nativity set last year so they had their own to play with. 2. Blocks. We have set of soft blocks from Target that have shaped cylinders that slide inside. Some were solid and others had things inside (ball, beads, key). They are blocks, rattles, and a shape-sorting puzzle all in one toy. 3. Doll house. I'm not sure if your daughter would play with it much yet, but mine all have played with our regularly for over 2 years. If you buy the house now she could ask for additional furniture sets for future birthday and holidays. 4. Play kitchen. If your daugher is walking on her own she is probably big enough to enjoy a play kitchen. 5. Train set. NOT just for boys! These definatly have staying power. And you can start with a basic set and add on as your child grows. I have gone to playgroups at a few different places. The doll houses, trains, play kitchens, and play houses never get neglected. There are often kids fighting for space around the train table. Of course, your daughter is still pretty young so you wouldn't want to leave her alone with them. I am sure most are marketed for ages 3+. You may even want to wait a while if she tends to chew on things.
  18. If you order the movies online, are you able to use your invoice as a receipt for the reabate?
  19. Does anyone know if girls cloths got marked down to 75% today? The ones that were 50%?
  20. I use my debit card, maybe cash for small purchases (under $20ish, starbuck perhaps?) and have never had an issue with the system going down. I don't carry a purse that day and wouldn't want to worry about money slipping out of my pocket so I don't take much cash. Maybe you can carry a checkbook with you in case the computers go down? I don't know for sure that they still do, but stores used to take checks without computers verifying them first.
  21. At one of my local Walmarts the official policy (per manager) has always been that you don't need the ad. Of course, they don't bother to tell the cashiers this and they usually ask to see it. I have pm'd ads that are far beyond 30 miles, but maybe I just got lucky. This BF I will be sure to get a copy of the Milwaukee paper vs my hometown one, more ads to choose from!
  22. "Local" = less than 4 miles? Do you have to be able to see the store you are PMing from Target's parking lot, lol? We have a lot of rural areas around here. I consider anything in our county local. And on a fiesty day I might argue the next county over is local, too! If it is advertised in our local paper and I, the customer who is always right, say that I would be willing to do my shopping at the other store instead, then it is local.
  23. I hope not! Can you imagine: a week's worth of T-day preperation, followed by spending an exhausting day with family which encourages the drinking of a couple more glasses of wine than you normally would, followed by a sleepless night of deal-planning, online shopping, and/or camping out in the cold, combined with forgetting to eat in the BF excitement, followed by the comsumption of some spirits purchased at a liquor store door buster sale? Exhaustion, hunger, and alcohol - it sounds like a nightmare to everyone anywhere nearby from friday night till monday morning! As for my top 5: 1. Keyboard 2. $5 (or less) 2GB (or more) SD cards 3. MP3 player, 4gb or more, preferably with and FM tuner 4. Cute, 20-24" baby dolls and accessories 4. A low-priced sturdy bed frame for me.
  24. Thanks, I'll go today. Are other items 4/$10, too?
  25. I am probably about 50%, but that was the easy half - mostly my kids! About half of what I have left is waiting for BF, the rest are the ones where we should give a gift but I have no idea what. Now I am itching to shake my kids off long enough to pull their gifts out of hiding and get them wrapped.
