That's the best one yet! I would head for the diamonds! Hell with a big screen from Best Buy!

I'm not sure because DH usually does the shopping on Sat mornings while I'm sleeping. BUT I just found out my son and his wife and gd are coming after they make a "have to" visit to her cousin's for their first dinner. We will be invited to but are opting out since its in the middle of nowhere. I am seriously considering buying one of those "pre-cooked" dinners from Jewel! LOL I think you get everything for around 35.

Thanks everyone for your ideas! I never knew that Burlington Coat factory had so many Disney items. I looked at their web site and there were tons. I'll let you all know what I decide! Thanks again! You're great!

Gotta have a cold beer with that!
-
That's a good one! I'd probably do the same

Yes I agree...the people that are using it to make a living by inflating shipping and handling prices really irritate me. I just won't pay the shipping charges most people are charging now. Heck you can even ground ship Fed Ex now for about 4 dollars cause I just used it at work. I had to return a computer bag and used Fed Ex and that's all it was! It probably would be about twice that much on ebay.

Aw, I'll be so happy if you got your flute through my starting this thread! Please let me know if that happens.

I've found if I really want something, I never place a big early in the game. I just watch and watch till its almost over. Then if the price is reasonable, I will snipe. I think if you bid early it does push the price up...the bidding wars begin.
-
That's right, that's why I started doing it.
-
Do any of you use a "robot" and snipe when using e-bay, or use one just cause you won't be home to bid? I have used vrane.com before with success but haven't tried it in a couple of years.

Well, you could try this. I hate credit cards myself, I always feel so in debt when I have a balance. Open a sears account, maybe they give a bonus discount for that, and then, go to customer service and pay off the balance right away with your receipt.

Unless the ad specifically said you had to use a cc, I would have asked to see the manager.

I saw them at mine too, get yourself a LNT coupon, there must be one online somewhere.

Are you kidding, I grew up in PA where there are hills and I STILL can't drive in the snow! I'm petrified!

I just cut out some snowflakes out of paper for my GD to decorate with glitter. I thought that would be fairly easy to do, just put glue on a plate and dip them into the glue and then sprinkle glitter on them. I also want to get some plain votive candle holders to put glue and then glitter on. Who knows, this glitter could be a mess!

I hate winter and the cold weather, so no, I don't care if it snows. In fact I would be thrilled if it were 70! But remember I live in Chicago and have to fight my way into the city every day (1 1/2 hrs each way) in bad weather so I'm sick of it.

Get a large clear bowl or basket and put in it: One string of battery operated lights, either white or colored some odd and end pieces of fake pine Glass balls of your choice of colors drape the lights amongst the balls Its really pretty when done and most of the stuff you have onhand except maybe the lights which are cheap and even cheaper if you go to Joann or Michaels and use one of their 40% off coupons! Probably you could do this whole thing for under 5.00

I have a bunch of stuff that I'm going to give my gd for her birthday and I would like some ideas for wrapping. What I would like, is like one big container I could put everything in rather than wrap all this stuff individually. I was hoping to find a wicker basket lined in pink gingham but I couldn't find one and I don't want to order online. Ideally, it would be something that could be used again but I don't want to break the bank buying it, but I would like something that wouldn't get tossed away and could be used again. Here's what it needs to hold: Assortment of clothes, pants, tops, sweaters - pretty big stack Sleeping bag, rolled in a plastic bag Vtech smile system The theme of the party is Disney princess and her room is painted kind of a taupe color with pink gingham drapes and accessories. Any ideas?

Does picking up those cards that you take to checkout because the item is so big count? If so, I'd hit Best Buy, pick up a couple big screen tvs, digital camera, camcorder, stereo etc. I could do some real damage there.

December of 1972. I was pregnant and had been in bed for the last two months to ward off a premature birth. Baby was due Jan 2. I finally was allowed to get up a couple of days before Christmas but there were no presents and an ugly aluminum tree my inlaws brought over. I think my inlaws brought over dinner for Christmas day. It was all very depressing. BUT, on 12/27 I got my beautiful baby boy.

Agreed, thats the way I always did it. Now my son and his wife (sigh) they put stuff out as they wrap it. But it turns out they didn't buy the baby any toys at all last year because they knew the two grandmas were buying so much. That really *issed me off! LOL So this year, I'm not bringing in anything till after baby is in bed!

Ok, here is what I bought my granddaughter who will be three in Dec. Vtech smiles computer....49.00 I think Vtech learn to write computer...I think it was just around 30 Light Bright...says ages 4 and up but I think she can handle it Lincoln Logs, she loves to build...TRU has BIG set for 29.99 I think Large Cinderella Doll Baby Ariel Doll. I think it was 15.50 at the Disney store, but she's an Ariel freak Playskool has the Cinderella playsets, I think they are around 30 and I thought the Aquadoodle looked cute. Oh, also if you have a TRU nearby you, they have these "Sweet Streets" houses and shops that are really cute, and they are about 15 each. I thought for the price they were a good buy. I almost got them but bought the twin time dollhouse instead for 50.

We go to our son's home because of our GD. We all feel she should be allowed to stay at home and play with her toys that day and not be drug around. Besides who can count on the weather in Chicago!
-
As a grandmother I Love the blanket idea! We never really expect much, you know kids have so many other expenses. Anything with my GD's photo on it would be appreciated.

I used to buy on e-bay but again, I think the shipping charges are way out of line. Sometimes the shipping is as much as the item so I don't go to the site much anymore unless its something really unusual and I'm willing to pay the high shipping costs for it.
