Crazy. This year is 3/4 over now. Where has the time gone?

Were they name brand or one of the 9 million companies putting them out because everyone else was so behind? We are on our 5th one in less than a year (3 different models) - none have worked right - and the parts to fix them are on backorder for up to 2 more years! VERY FRUSTRATING - and over $1,000.00 in lost food!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactly. If it was a couple hundred dollars it would be a neat toy type thing. But at a grand it does nothing useful.I snorted at the article describing the Astro as “the love child between a Roomba and an Echo Show smart display.” As interesting as it is in theory it doesn’t seem that useful, particularly not at the $1k price point.

If you’re market is anything like here it won’t last long so then you can do what you want lolOur house goes on the market Oct 11th because my husband can no longer keep up with the mowing and such outside. We are also so far out I worry with his health so we will be buying a house in town. Realtor says minimal decorations and such as the buyer needs to envision what the house would look like with their stuff so I have no clue what we’re gonna do.

My wife and I had thought about trying to pay one a couple layaways this year. Hopefully someone will have it.Every time I come in this thread I get mad. Walmart may have just lost my business this year. I do not like this one bit. I have not had to use it but every year I dream of being able to go in and pay off everyone's layaway in there just to be a blessing. So many parents try and work so hard to just put a smile on there kids face. I know it is not about the gifts but remembering my child's smile on Christmas from that one item they really wanted is what keeps me going most days, but I also remember the pain of explaining that this year I just could not do it.

We are going to do some fall/Halloween decorating probably next weekend (I need to pressure wash the porch this coming weekend).
Christmas will probably be right around BF. We aren’t going to go full blown this year as we have in years past. Planning to go away for Christmas so no real need.

Didn’t get to make it this weekend. Busy moving. Would have been great though. Our friends made it out to one though. Hoping we can do the haunted hayride at Blakes this year.Got that nip in the air last couple of days. Hope you’ve made it to the cider mill! Meanwhile, enjoying an apple from orchard as we speak. My orchard officially transitioned to full organic as of last year, so yummy eats for sure. [emoji106][emoji39][emoji519]

The thing is they still do make a profit. It’s just over the course of the layaway plan. This seems to be another version of those payday loan rip off locations. Growing up I know my mom needed to use it and without it we would not have had a Christmas. I know a business needs to make a profit but not like this. Maybe during the year but the holidays in out current climate....
Smells of a money grab to me, Walmart isn’t hurting for money.

Who is it? I would like some of those meats. How in the heck do you stuff a prime rib?!? LOL!
I actually have found what seems like a wonderful online exotic and regular meat supplier - should have a Christmas goose (which I have NOT been able to get where I live sine 1998! Ordered some other things to check them out first - BUT if these work out - they have just gotten a shipment of turkeys in - as well as prime rib and everything from, yak & ostrich, to alligator. Will advise once I am sure everything is good - but since they have over 20 physical locations - I think it will be. :::Fingers Crossed!:::

Do a camo shirt. We can be the Black Friday Army. Either Jungle or Desert camo should work.

Before I ever pay $100 for a turkey we will be eating prime rib for Thanksgiving lol. This made the news in my area. Stores have ordered extra inventory and ordered a month early to try and have stock but I think there will be a run on the stores as well. I think I will get my meats early. I usually don't like my ham frozen but I cant be picky this year. So please plan ahead or you will find yourself paying 100 for a turkey.
I never thought we would have to start shopping for cooking supplies 2 months before Thanksgiving. We can only do pickup at Walmart and at a small local store - both of which informed us they will not get any turkeys in until November - IF THEY GET THEM! :::Sigh:::
Would love to hear if other areas of the USA are experiencing the same thing.

Soon as we get that little nip in the air we are going to head to the cider mills. Fresh cider and donuts is great.Cider mill just 1.5 miles from me is now open...YUM.

My wife and I were just talking about it. We are moving this weekend and we intend to pick up stuff for baking and maybe a turkey starting next week. Crazy we need to start that now.

I think right now it’s sort of hit or miss on how this year is going to play out. How the sales will even happen, will they be more like what were used to? Are they going to be spread out like last year? Will we have the normal BF ads and so on. Still a crazy world we are living in right now.

One of the words I associate the most is Tradition. A lot of what we missed last year were the traditions we’ve come to enjoy over time that are a part of of shopping.

Picked up a couple of toys that were on clearance at Sam’s club for Christmas. Just going to try and get things as we see and can.

I think a lot of people get overwhelmed when they realize they are 200+ messages behind in reading a channel. It’s much easier to come to a forum see you and 4-5 pages behind and say oh I can read those whenever.
I’m a total tech person and I left a chat like discord with a bunch of friends for the reason. Felt like I was always so behind the conversations that I couldn’t catch up.

Or eat something else. If they are going to charge the same for turkey as rib roast, have yourself a prime rib Christmas!
Completely agree. Walked into the wholesale club yesterday and was looking at brisket to smoke was almost $8 a pound. I usually pay around $3 a pound. I laughed and walked away. I don’t need anything enough to be willing to pay over twice the price.

I need it to cool down some before I can head to the cider mill and apple orchard. Need that nip in the air. Having said that hope we get to do hay rides and possibly haunted hay ride this year.

No real budget set. We move into our new place this week so will be buying things for there also.

We ended up with a sectional, a couple 5x7 rugs, some LED bulbs, water, cookies and some beef jerky on that trip.
