  1. Why do I have the feeling this sale isn't going to happen? They didn't do all this lightening stuff in the past did they? I have a feeling they have replaced it with that. Legos each day on there, LPS, Ponys, etc. have all been on there. Thankfully I was able to pick up 2 lego sets and the LPS 10 pack today. Added in the Hannah Montana bedroom and looks like the kids are done except for those awesome deals I'm still hoping to see...filler stuff...and of course every lego set I can get my hands on since DS is TOTALLY obsessed with them. Saving for BDay now too. Everything today only averaged about 30-40% off....not what I was hoping for!
  2. I'm not worrying until Friday since that's my next day off. If it starts too soon, that's all I'll think about at work!!!! :D

I start work at 7, right when the legos went on today...and we aren't allowed to use internet. Oh well, I used it anyway and was able to pick up the IJ Lego set today. Since my husband and I both got it into our carts, he bought DS's and I was able to let a co-worker buy mine. That will make 3 little boys happy on Christmas (he got it since it had 2 planes and his boys won't share their legos, lol). I hope the Lego deals continue, although we are going on Lego overload now!

  3. We have been waiting for this and starting to get worried. Our purchases started on Nov. 27th, but maybe that was just a good purchase outside that window. Since we travel 3,000 miles for Xmas we have to have everything shipped there and Amazon has been great for that....but we are so stuck on DD5 this year because she wants expensive Barbie, Littlest Pet Shop and some other things that are always best priced during that sale. I have it all in my cart waiting to go down, but that doesn't always work if the seller isn't Amazon. I noticed on LPS a lot of it is other sellers and it keeps falling out of my cart because they go out of stock. Thankfully DS7 is almost done, and unfortunately we have to travel with his stuff because he wanted big Lego sets and we got a really good deal here at home. He just needs some fillers that I always get from Amazon during the sale. I'm going crazy here, I want my shopping done!!!!!

Anyone know any good Barbie sales for Princess or 3 Musketeer Princess???? Her #1 request at minimum $25 each. I think that's pricey.

  4. My husband's laptop is an HP and we've had never ending battery/charging problems with it. The latest battery we got seems to be working ok so far, but I won't ever get an HP unless it's dirt cheap because of that. I used to be a Gateway fan, but not too thrilled with what they turned into...Acer. My latest is an Asus and I LOVE LOVE the computer, but the casing seems to be a little flimsy. However, my dog knocked it off the table and not a mark or crack came from that so overall I'm happy.
  5. AMD is a tricky thing to weigh. You can change a lot of the settings that you can't with Intel, but if you aren't really good at computers or don't need to, they aren't that great. And if you are really good and need those settings, you are probably more into a gaming computer anyways and an AMD will never compare to what you want. If all you do is surf the net a little and do email, an AMD will be fine, but if you multi-task or do a lot of entertainment or media stuff (games, photos, videos, etc.) go with an Intel that can handle that...something like the Quad core or Core 2 duo. Best buy has had some great deals since Windows 7 came out (which by the way, has worked awesome for me and I got it at release). I just wouldn't go near an AMD.

If you aren't sure what you need, talk to the Geek Squad at Best Buy, the ones at my store were very knowledgable and didn't push me to anything I didn't want (I also knew all the features I wanted). Just know what you need and what features you want before you go in and they are great at finding the computer that includes all those things.

  6. I'm disappointed, but I didn't go out. Wal-mart is too crazy and ALL I wanted was the 2 $5 barbies...blue princess and pink princess and $3 kids, $7 adult pajamas at wal-mart....none of it was online. I stayed up until the sale started, and then woke up a couple times to check. I got no sleep waiting for that stupid stuff. Other than that, I was able to get MLP Baby Starsong I've been looking at for $15 at Amazon...I just happened to look 20 minutes before it came on as a secret lightening deal..Lucky! And got my toys 4 tots DVD's at the Disney Movie Club for $6 each, free shipping.
  7. The arcade needs a hard drive to play any Xbox games (old system Xbox, non-xbox 360). To make it backward compatible to play those you must download the patch and that has to go on the hard drive. The new systems are 512 MB, HOWEVER, if you've bought from any of the recent deals, they shipped out 256 MB instead which are the older models. He will be able to play and save right out of the box though as long as it is a 360 game.

You do not need wireless to play on line if you have a space to plug it into the router/modem. If you want wireless you need to buy a wireless adapter for the 360 separately. You do need XBox Live Gold to play online with friends which is a subscription. The system should come with at least a month free. After that they have a lower version that is free but you can't play with friends online or do some other things.

I've been watching for hard drives so here are your best shots. A 20 GB can be picked up on Amazon for around $35 to $40. A 60 GB starter kit is around $86 on Amazon. The kit comes with 3 months of Live Gold, the head set, a cable to hook up internet (not the wireless part, but hardwired) andthe 60GB drive. They make the same starter kit with a 20 GB but its harder to find and for the price difference, the 60 GB is better.

Also, your system probably only came with 1 controller, so if someone else is going to play with him right away, you'll need to get more.

Best place to get Xbox Live cards is somewhere like Costco where they are about $10 off ($40 a year I think it was).

  8. I've been waiting to see this posted!!! Got 2 Didj games for DS7 and 2 Leapster games for DD5 for $40 shipped! I'm so happy. I got DD the Tinker Bell and Tiana ones and DS has been begging for the Indiana Jones one. Plus I found the racing one for only $5...he loves the games where he can make his own guy on the computer and import. He'll be so happy! Thanks OP!!!

    Edit...Code worked as well.

  9. Guys...watch Gamestop.com for games. They have used and new online and sometimes have good deals and coupon codes make them great. I haven't bought from them in awhile, but one time I got a ton of PS2 games for like $20 (before PS3 was out).

They sell controllers used as well.

These are NOT all verified and there are more out there:

    Free Shipping: SAVER - verified

30% off used games: 30OFF - Couldn't get this to work, must be off anything

    10% off used 360: 10OFF360 - verified

  10. We LOVE our Lego games!!!! We have them all (and looking forward to Harry Potter next year!!). Our Kids love them just as much as mom and dad, lol. Seriously, they are a ton of fun. I would also recommend the following...DS is 7 and DD is 5...they live with their mom so they haven't gotten to play all yet...

They really like Super Mario Party 8, all the Lego games and Cars. We haven't given them the Mario Kart yet, but we really like it and they would too I'm sure. We also got the GameCube stuff so they can play those games...they are much cheaper.

We also have Hasbro Family Game night which is ok for kids, but may not be enough to keep them entertained. Parents love the Raving Rabbids games, they are a ton of fun and know the kids would love them. I don't give them any of the balance board stuff because they are too rough. If there is a game you are thinking about trying, maybe you could rent it first and see how he does.

My nephew is 22 and on about a 6-8 year old level and his X-mas gift from us is going to be all 3 of the first Lego games. We picked up Batman for $10 at Costco and I know I will find the other as cheap as well. If not the Walmart deal is best. He would also recommend Ben 10 (no idea who that is, Nickelodeon or something) and Guitar Hero even though he is horrible at it, he LOVES to do it.

  11. The Fisher Price Busy Ball Popper. That thing is SO loud and shoots the balls crazy distances. Not to mention drove my dogs to madness. Watching a toddler try to outrun 2 dogs to get to the balls is kinda funny though.

I bought this from Amazon on a great deal for my nephew and he LOVES it, one of his favorite toys. My sister didn't seem to midn, but I have never even seen it work. He was just a little too young when I gave it to him and I haven't been to his house since (we live 3,000 miles away) :(
