  1. My kids have both and love/play with both. DD6 got her Leapster for Xmas when she was 4 and loves it. DS7 got his Didj for his 6th Bday. He really wanted a DS and I just didn't want him to get one so young. He easily gets addicted to the PS and Wii so I wanted to limit it. As soon as he saw the Didj he settled on that and forgot about the DS. And the didj is educational so we were both happy. I know Nintendo has some educational games too, but then I have to deal with all the other "I wants." Besides, we have gotten games and accessories super cheap from Leapfrog.com for both systems and saved a ton of money. DS also has a Tag (got it awhile ago) but got bored with it because he could read already. I got my nephew a Tag Jr. for his 2nd birthday and have been able to get all the tag stuff cheap too. Leapfrog's site has awesome sales sometimes, but they aren't that often. I wouldn't say Didj was a failure either, but I totally think it was because of the age group and the Nintendo DS. All depends on which way the parent wanted to go. The DS has far more games and can grow with the kids more than a Didj. But we are sticking with Leapfrog for as long as I can find games that challenge their minds.
  2. I got in on the Didj deal, also, but I'm kind of clueless on it. I've seen them around, and so I knew this was an amazing deal. What's the youngest age you guys think? I know it says 5, but the kids in my family never seem to fit those ages!! Anyone have any game recommendations??

DS7 got his Didj just a little before he turned 7. He wanted a DS for his birthday (we celebrate a few month early for him) and I was against that. We went to the toy aisle and he saw the diji, fell in love and I said that was ok.

He loves that he can make his own guy and enjoys making a few and changing them up. He also likes the free game because he gets to use that guy. We got him the Spongebob Fists of something game and he enjoys that. Also got him the Star Wars science one and it was really too hard for him, but he was able to use it with daddy. That's all he's played are those 3. For Christmas we got him the Indiana Jones math I think and the racing one that uses the Didj guys that he makes. Got them cheap at Leapfrog.

DD5 had a Leapster first and sharing was a problem, so now we are all into Leapster and Didj stuff. I'd really like to pick up the $15 one if it goes that low again for his sister too. I want the jelly skin that's in it, lol. He drops everything!

  3. Yes, you need something. If you just have the guitars you can just play guitars, you don't have to have everything but you do have to have a guitar or the drums. I don't know if you can do singing only or not. I played Lego Rock Band today with just a guitar (the one that came with Aerosmith to be exact).
  4. I work in Law Enforcement and we adopted about 350 people for our location. I know a lot of our younger/newer officers aren't able to purchase like the rest of us and the trees are sitting a little longer than than in past years. I'm sure most agencies do this and you could probably walk in and ask to help out with their program. I know we would allow it. If you don't want to get a specific person with a specific request, you could always do Toys 4 Tots...they will take anything! They also will gladly take your help working at the distribution center and filling orders when families come in. I buy good quality toys all year at dirt cheap prices for T4T and then my husband and I both pick a few off the tree as well at Christmas time.
  5. Maybe your SECOND item isn't eligible....

    Link to eligible items.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=amb_link_86286211_1?ie=UTF8&docId=1000461821&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=special-offers-1&pf_rd_r=1GPZ684V7V30T7MGEFVE&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=503339071&pf_rd_i=B001W0WF46

It is working for me...I picked the Fire Station and something off the list and it gave me $19 off my total order (9 for the LD and 10 for the code).

  6. Spend $25 on select TRIO items and save $10. Use the promotional code TRIOSAVE at checkout. Limit one coupon per customer. Here's how (restrictions apply). (Applies only to products sold by Amazon.com. Does not apply to products sold by third-party merchants and other sellers through the Amazon.com site.)

I checked the list of eligible TRIO items and the Fire Station is one of them. The above statement is right off the fire Station's page and I know others got it to work the other day.

I'm sorry it's not working for you.

  7. emmy - no, it's one of the hot holiday deals. They do a couple every hour....from the homepage look to the right and you will see a hot holiday deals link.

It is posted at 15.99 for the deal.

    Here's the direct link... http://www.amazon.com/Black-Friday-After-Thanksgiving-Sale/b/ref=thd_GW_rightnav?ie=UTF8&node=384082011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=right-csm-4&pf_rd_r=178ZXRGRTS6MHE3T0RW1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=503136331&pf_rd_i=507846

  8. I know a lot of people missed out on the last TRIO so I'm posting this an hour early.

The Fire Station is orginally 24.99 and not yet showing the lightning price. However you can use the code TRIOSAVE at checkout and get $10 off of a $25 purchase (buying this will give you 24.99 towards it even at the lower price). Goes on at 9 AM PST.

  9. I used the Fred Myers as well, it is 25% off up to 3 toys per coupon...got 3 lego sets. Which one did you get that was already on sale?????

We got our Battle of Endor there...super hard to find lately and they had a ton if anyone is looking for that.

I'm always looking for lego deals, DS is only 7 so I have lots of years left. We stock up for bday at Christmas time for both kids since they are pretty generic still. Makes it easy for us and we can get them a lot more with good prices.

  10. tn - I didn't go for the Trio. According to Amazon's FAQ...if you put a Lightning deal in your cart at the right time, it should stay there until 11:59 PM PST. However, it also says it could sell out and you may not get it for that price. I don't know how that works, but I guess that's a typical Amazon statement. I haven't had any sell out on me once they were in my cart but I didn't wait all day either, usually only a couple hours until the last one I want. I still have the Hyper Dash and Barbie in my cart at the sale prices and both sold out. One day I had something in there all day because DH ended up buying it on his account and I was going to get it for my Giving Tree if I could get something else for free shipping....it stayed until at the sale price until I went to bed, the next day it was back to regular price.
  11. tasha - I think you got it right and they don't have the stock this year. That's probably why they are doing the lightning deal stuff. They sell what they can at that price and that's it. If its a regular sale, they are expected to have more, a lightning deal isn't expected to last.
