Ours goes up after my birthday on Dec. 5 and comes down Jan. 7. "After the Wise Men" as Andrea put it LOL

We have a camper so all the gifts are locked in there and that's where I wrap too. It's very convienient LOL

I have always put $$ away during the year AND I always used WM's layaway, they would "hide" it for me and as long as it was in LAW I could get price adjustments without all the running around to different stores. It saved me alot of time/gas/stress during the holidays. I know that since they've done away with it, instead of getting about 80% of my holiday business, I do very little shopping @ WM. Probably less than 10% of my gifts are bought there now.

Walmart Secret Saturday Sales?

I was thinking about this yesterday. I got the laptop last year and it's awesome. -
I know Sony makes a reader but I really know nothing about them. I use Stanza on my iPhone. You can get free downloads of alot of classic books at Projectgutenberg.org.

Thanks for the advice on the Vulcan. That was #1 on DS12-2's list. Guess I won't be wasting the $35!

We're really in the same boat, we pay the same expenses for DD, but since she's paying for all of her college expenses we decided to keep Christmas the same for now. I'm sure there will come a time when we will cut back, but not quite yet.

Ah, I see. Well, then I guess my advice would be the same as someone above then...follow your heart. You know best on how he will react to a change.

Our stockings must be smaller than most LOL. I'd never be able to fit a CD or books in them. My kids get candy bars, Pez, gift cards/certificates or any small gifts that I think would get lost under the tree. Since DD is 18 now, I might do the lottery ticket thing...that would be fun.

I should do it as I buy them, but I'm one of those people up until 2 am Christmas eve wrapping gifts LOL

How do you handle gifts for siblings w/ larger families
speeddiva replied to leefamily23's topic in 2009
What would happen if you don't discuss it with her and just do what you feel comfortable with? I know it sounds cowardly, but it would at least postpone the ugliness until the last minute -
I would still spend the same....you're paying for food & expenses for the younger one, right? And you paid for his cell, ins, etc BEFORE he moved to college I'm assuming...So, IMO that's a moot argument. I plan on getting the same amount of gifts for my college daughter as I am her brothers at home. Hers may just be more practical & portable than in the past LOL

I'm bummed I didn't win (again LOL) but congrats to the winners! I had a blast reading all the stories.

I vow not to buy a bunch of crap I don't need just because the price is great.

The 1st year Menards opened in this area we thought no one would show up to a home improvement store for BF...boy, were we WRONG!! We spent 4 hours in line because the store was so unprepared for the crowd. The best part is that we met some folks in line who also spend their race weekend @ Michigan in the infield, so in August we got to go "visit" them again

WOW, that's really hypocritical....so it's OK if a store does YOUR religious holiday but not anyone elses???
