Thanks for the suggestions....I looked at the 3M hooks at WM yesterday and I don't think they'll work on my fireplace My mantel is very decorative and if I put them on the 'flat' surface under it they'll hang in the fire I may be able to stick them flat on the top though so if all else fails, I'll try that!

I need some stocking hooks that hold alot of weight...I was looking at these, they're supposed to hold up to 15 lbs: http://www.sturbridgeyankee.com/product.asp?pn=60137&sid=FROOGLE&EID=FR60137&bhcd2=1258116182 http://www.sturbridgeyankee.com/images/250/60137.jpgbut I don't wanna pay $50 (I need 5). Has anyone seen anything like them in stores anywhere?? Our mantle has a small lip around the edge so the ones with the weighted bottoms don't work well and the weight of the stockings pulls them right off the fireplace. TIA!

Do you keep track of how much $$ you spend on Christmas?
speeddiva replied to angied64084's topic in 2009
I think that $740 is way low...we are very conservative for Christmas, only buying for about 15 people and we still spend around $1000. The breakdown: Kids: $150 (X3) DH: $150 Me: $150 MIL: $50 Mom: $50 InLaws: $100 and that leaves $50 for things like wrapping paper, tape, etc. -
I got some Snoopy paper @ Dollar Tree last week, they had a bunch of cute ones.

What's the worst gift you or someone is your family has ever received?
speeddiva replied to angied64084's topic in 2009
I've given used books for Christmas before...I got DHs niece 4 mint condition Danielle Steel books one year for less than the price of one new one. She was happy, I saved a bit of money, no harm, no foul! LOL I suppose if the books are torn up & nasty it would be an issue, but overall, I don't see the problem in giving used books. -
Yes, I LOVE it!!

One year from MY Mother I got a furry PINK toilet set, you know the seat/tank cover thing? Wouldn't have been a bad gift if she hadn't KNOWN that I'd just redone the bathroom in black & green. That was also the year she got me this HIDEOUS black nylon w/neon pink, green, yellow paisley print blouse in a size 26! Her reasoning? "You've been gaining weight so I thought you could use a new blouse"....ummmm, Mother, hello.....I'm 7 months pregnant with TWINS!!!!! -

I agree with bripoe. Take him to a running store and have him evaluated before buying him shoes. It's very important that he have the right shoes to avoid injury. -
I did see a commercial yesterday but the only thing that stuck in my head was the Basic Edition jeans for $6.99 (because DH had stated an hour before that he needed new jeans LOL)

When I was @ the WM service desk yesterday they had a flyer about theirs, it's $3 to activate and $3 everytime you want to reload it.

I'd love the distance thing to go away. I live in a rural area where WM's only competition that fell in the 30 mile rule was Meijer. It'll be great to be able to use the BB, TRU & Target ads there now!

I'm about 85% done....still have DH, the in-laws (they won't decide on anything until Thanksgiving) and my Mom.

My favorite is Donny Osmond "Christmas At Home" but it's not all traditional so I don't know if you'd like it all. I don't do traditional because really, how many versions of "The Christmas Song" does one person need? LOL I think that song is on every flippin' Christmas album I own!! I prefer the new, original songs that alot of artists have.

Spoon into a 2 quart oven proof baking dish. 3.Combine the coconut, flour, brown sugar, chopped nuts and melted butter. French Toast cupcakes 4 t. pure maple syrup 4 slices cinnamon raisin bread 4 large eggs 1/2 c. milk 1/2 t. ground cinnamon 1 t. vanilla extract topping: 1 t. sugar 1/2 t. cinnamon 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place 4 foil cupcake liners in cupcake pan. Place 1 teaspoon maple syrup in each of the 4 cupcake liners. 2. Tear 1 slice of bread into smaller pieces and place in one of the liners. Repeat for all 4. 3. mix eggs, milk, cinnamon, and vanilla extract well with wire whisk. 4. Pour equally into each of the 4 cupcake liners. Let sit for 5 min. to allow bread to absorb egg mixture. 5. Mix together topping & sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon over each cupcake. 6. bake for 25 min, until puffy & golden. **I usually sprinkle powdered sugar over the top when they're done....you could add another drizzle of syrup too.
