  1. FOUND IT!!!!

    The Marvelous Toy

Words and Music by Tom Paxton

When I was just a wee little lad full of health and joy,

My father homeward came one night and gave to me a toy.

A wonder to behold, it was, with many colors bright,

And the moment I laid eyes on it it became my heart's delight.

    [Cho:]

It went "zip" when it moved and "bop" when it stopped,

And "whirr" when it stood still.

I never knew just what it was and I guess I never will.

The first time that I picked it up, I had a big surprise,

For right on its bottom were two big buttons that,

    Looked like big green eyes.

I first pushed one and then the other, and then I twisted its lid,

And when I set it down again, this is what it did:

    [Cho:]

It first marched left and then marched right,

And then marched under a chair.

And when l looked where it had gone, it wasn't even there.

I started to sob and my daddy laughed, for he knew that I would find,

When l turned around, my marvelous toy, chugging from behind.

    [Cho:]

Well, the years have gone by too quickly, it seems,

I have my own little boy.

And yesterday I gave to him my marvelous little toy.

His eyes nearly popped right out of his head,

And he gave a squeal of glee.

Neither one of us knows just what it is,

but he loves it, just like me.

It still goes "zip" when it moves, "bop" when it stops,

And "whirr" when it stands still.

I never knew just what it was,

And I guess I never will.

I never knew just what it was,

And I guess I never will.

  2. I don't know morris the moose, but I remember marvelous little toy. We had to sing it in music class when I was in elementary school. I was trying to sing it to my kids a few months back and I just can't remember the words.

I will do some searching and see if I can't come up with something.

  3. I am avoiding TRU on BF b/c the TRU near me has to have a manager or head cashier (whatever) physically look at every check written over $100. Well this was a huge to do last week when the big toy book came out. I cannot imagine how horrible it will be on BF and will make the whole checkout process a nightmare.
  4. I have a good friend that tells her boys they can only have THREE gifts as the Wisemen only brought Jesus THREE gifts.

A friend of mine is doing this with her children this year. They do not partake in Santa traditions and her kids will be getting 3 gifts this year. :)

I wish I had that type of restraint, however, I just can't seem to stop shopping.:D

  5. We sometimes just do sausage, eggs, potatoes, toast. But we like a breakfast frittata as well. That is probably what is going to happen this year since I will be having some house guests and it will be easier to make something ahead of time.

    12 eggs

    1TBL. butter

    1 TBL. flour

    1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

    4 oz softened cream cheese

Whip these ingredients together until mixed throughly.

Then add whatever you wish: cheese, cooked breakfast meat, onions, red and green peppers.

Pour this mixture over shredded hashbrowns, bake next day for 1 hour.

  6. We open our presents first. When the initial unwrap is finished, I pop the breakfast casserole in the oven while hubby helps the kids get the things out of the packages and get the batteries into things. The kiddies play until breakfast is ready.

I love Christmas, all this talk is making me so excited!:holiday02:holiday08:holiday16

  7. But wouldn't it in someway benefit Wal-mart(or any other retailer) to have a leak on this info? I would think it would give people a chance to save some more $ they would be willing to spend or just see a few items that would bring them to their store instead of another?

    Am I wrong?

  8. I think we definetly do. However, I buy things on sale throughout the year AND last year and this year, nothing is going a credit card. This is a great accomplishiment for us, and it is so much more enjoyable, knowing that a bill is not going to haunt me in a month!
  9. I hope they do have them...and for that price. Because I'm not getting one, and it'll make the lines for the other items shorter :)

:lmao: That's great. Those of us with little ones that just "have to have them" will be clawing and scratching, you will be pointing, laughing and stealing all the other good deals.:lmao::tongue1:

  10. Like others have mentioned. I keep a spreadsheet. After each shopping trip, I add it under the appropriate child's column. I have formula's that figure out what the total for each kid is, etc.

I also color code, bold is on layaway, yellow highlighted is things that i'm looking for. blue highlighted i have in the house and red highlighted is going to be a stocking stuffer. :cheesy: crazy i know.

I hide in our laundry room in plastic bins, and at my parents house.:)

    I love buying presents.:D

  11. Usually the weekend after I pick up my layaway I wrap everything, with the exception of last minute gifts.

I do wrap other people's presents early but my kids I wait until I have everything and then wrap. Also, I wrap each of the kids' presents in different paper. That way I don't have to put names on them, I can just stash them until Christmas Eve and then I know who they belong to.

  12. I can't wait for my kids to be old enough. My husband would just slow up the process. He doesn't get the idea of 'sport' shopping and that BF is not a leisurly trip to Walmart.

So now hubby does his best work at home with the kids!!!:D;)

  13. I picked up one of these at TRU, but saved everything in case they go on sale for much less somewhere on BF!

I think these are going to be a pretty big deal, as almost every parent in my daughter's preschool is talking about where they got them/getting them and how much they are.
