    How do you wrap?

Santa gifts get santa wrapping paper (usually purchased after Christmas the year before). About 4 years ago, I stocked up on wrapping paper, tissue, bags and what-not at Walmart the day after Christmas, and I am just now using the last of it. I don't like to spend too much $$$ on wrapping paper since it's only use is to be ripped off - so I go for the clearance stuff. No real theme or anything when buying it (except for the Santa stuff), I just buy what's pretty and seems like a good deal. We also bag odd shaped items (or just bag multiple gifts if I am in a hurry). DH wraps mine, I wrap all the rest.
  2. I know that Lowes was one of my stops last year. I got a curved shower curtain ( <- shaped like that so it gave you more room in the shower. I also picked up some poinsettias (they were like $1.66 each) and a cutting board. They didn't have a ton of great deals, but there were NO lines when I went there around 6:30 am last year.
  3. I just went online, and the 30% off is supposedly the price that's already showing up. Not great prices, really. Bummer. (only 30% off anything I have viewed). Maybe I'd get a better deal by going in the store.
  4. Thanks - I didn't see them on sale when I went shopping the other day, so I bought the Kroger brand. Yuck! I should bring them back for the Keebler brand - but I don't have the receipt anymore (DH shreds after he balances the checkbook). Oh well. I will have to find the coupons ones... Thanks for posting this deal!
  5. This sounds like fun. I'd love to participate. I am a newbie - so be kind. :) I'll pm you shortly. BTW - thanks for doing this. I have organized something similar for some friends on a parenting board I participate on, and it's NO PICNIC!!!! You have a lot of work, and I just wanted to say THANK YOU in advance!!!
  6. My DD is 3 (will be 4 next week) and for the past 2 years, I couldn't even get her to SIT on Santa's lap, let alone get a good shot of her with him, so I didn't feel so bad just taking her to Walmart and getting a free pix. Both Santas were cheesy looking, and so was the backdrop (wrapping paper with some fake presents around). Who knows, maybe this year she won't freak. Maybe not - but I am not going to pay top dollar at the mall for a picture of her standing next to Santa... lol!
  7. I started really BF shopping when I moved to NC, so that's been about 7 years. Started off with just my sister and I, and since I moved an hour away from her, we can't really meet to do it, so I either shop by myself, or like last year, I'll go with a neighbor. I don't know if I'll get to shop this year, so I have had to avoid this forum, or I'd get depressed. (I'll be 9 months pregnant, and not sure when I'll go into labor)
  8. Wow - nobody from NC yet. I am in the Raleigh area - hope to be shopping and not working that day, but we'll see. I don't have the shirt (are these shirts big enough for preggo women?!?! lol!) - but I am hoping to get the backpack. Although, I don't know if I'll even make it - since I'll be 9 month's pregnant then. I'd hate to go into labor in the middle of WalMart trying to get toys for my daughter... lol!
  9. I am due with my second child on the monday AFTER Black Friday. My mom is convinced that I won't want to shop - but I know she's WRONG!!!! lol! I hope I can get some shopping done before hand so if I do have this baby early and miss BF, then I won't be too sad...
  10. Looks to be still in stock, here in Cary, NC. Too bad I don't need one, but I think I'll send this info to my neighbor who is looking for some inexpensive nursery furniture... Thanks for the post!
  11. I need to get to JCP today! I don't want to waste my $10 in free stuff (well, almost free )
  12. I had heard about this gift card scam on another website - and like a previous poster said, those people who steal this info suck! I like gift cards, only for the fact that if I get money, more times than not I'll spend it on a bill or what not. If I get a gift card, at least I know that I have to buy something for myself. My dad and step mom give my husband and I a gift card from Walmart/Sam's every year. Granted, we use it to buy some necessities, but we consider that "free" money, so it's not budgeted and we can buy extra stuff that we want, not stuff that we need. Just recently I got in on the Buick OnStar test drive promotion (do a test drive, get a $50 AMEX), and I was able to buy 3 gifts with it. Granted, 2 of them were gift cards - how ironic, right? With the cost of shipping, gifts are getting harder to give if your family is far apart. Lots of people don't like the fact that you can't "unwrap" a gift card. That may be so, but just think of the wasted paper and trash you don't have to clean up afterwards. lol!
  13. Great! I think I'll go. Thanks for the heads up about how to sign up.
  14. This may be a silly question, but if I am not a homeschooler or a teacher (or librarian), but just a parent who wants to purchase books for her child, am I able to shop? It looks like (from the website), that only people associated with homeschooling or regular school are allowed... I know, I can just say that I homeschool, but my daughter is 3. Just wondering... :)
  15. Thanks! I actually just got my BH&G magazine the other day, and brought it to work today to browse through. I'll add it to my stack of other BB&B coupons I have. TG they accept expired ones! :)
  16. Here's a link to this year's coupon. Found on another site... http://www.macys.com/dyn_img/site_ads/112806_f&f_coupon.pdf?PartnerID=email and another one...
  17. I got in on the $3.99 deal too! Yahoo! To answer your question (I am reading this off the official rebate form - preschool one) "Allow 12 weeks for verification and deliver of up to $31 rebate check by mail." Hope it doesn't take THAT long... Don't forget, it asks for the ORIGINAL receipt. (I hate sending the original, just in case I need to return something on that same receipt, but since I bought these games at Target, I guess it's not a big deal).
  18. I thought that the Vsmile would be a hard to get item, for $30 - it's 1/2 price...So my neighbor and I got to WM at 3am to get our stuff (Super WM, that is), and I saw 2 pallets of the Vsmile machines. Needless to say, I got one (along with the Spongebob TV/DVD set). When we came back at noon for something else (another gift I forgot), there was still a pallet and 1/2 left of the console! Had I known that, our BF plans may have been different. Oh well - I got what I needed (along with the Vsmile games at Target).
  19. Is anyone else having trouble getting the Amazon.com pages to load? Maybe it's my 'puter, but I keep getting error pages. I hope I can eventually get to the page I am after, as those sheets for $11.99 are a GREAT deal!
  20. TY!! I will check it out. That will save me (hopefully) $10 (so I can spend it on something else for my dd!) :)
  21. My friend and I got to our Super WM at 3, just in case there was a crowd (not!) and so we could find items on other ads to PM. Out of 5 or 6 on the list, I only PMd 2 things. They didn't have the others (wrong size for some things, and completely missing others). Man, this is the first time I tried really hard to PM items so we could skip other stores, but it just wasn't happening. Also, at 3:30, we bought sodas to drink while waiting, so I figured I'd ask the cashier if they were PMing - and she got this confused look on her face and ended up calling over a couple other cashiers and eventually a manager who told them they were PMing. I had no trouble getting what I wanted PM'd - but it was only bandaids (Hello Kitty for 99c vs 3.19 - my daughter loves playing with bandaids!), and a Sudoku machine they had at Target. Saved $5 on that (although I was going to Target anyway, but had g/c to spend there. I figured I'd just save money either way...
  22. The jewelry counter usually has the computer set up for registries (facing out with a touch screen for customers) - that machine also is a price checker. I noticed a lot of the price checker machines are missing in my WM too - so that's where I go to check prices.
